Chapter 55 -- Battle, Second Confrontations

David's fight :

Through gritted teeth, David felt his face and instead of skin, there was only muscle on his right side.

He could only console himself with the knowledge that Zane will heal him after the fight. If they don't die that is.

David had gone into this fight thinking it wasn't to the death, however the other side was clearly out for their lives.

Peter walked forward and easily destroyed David's wall with a kick, the wall was this easily destroyed because David had stopped supplying it with mana.

"Well whaddya know... It seems like you are going to lose. Just like the last time." Peter mocked with a smirk.

David angrily stood up and shot forward with his fist encased in earth. His face might have gotten half peeled off, but he was still full of energy, albeit in pain.

Peter did the same with his water element and the two fists collided mid swing. David was shocked to find out that Peter could match his physical strength. He was always stronger than Peter.

That's when David focused on Peter's aura and found the reason. 'Rank six mage!' David was once again shocked to find out that Peter was now in the same rank as himself.

Even though the people of this planet didn't train their bodies, they obviously knew the concept of physical strength. However they thought that physical strength only came with an increase in realm and or rank.

BOOM!

'Damn it, i forgot he could do that. Since when can water explode anyway!?' David thought as he was flung away by the explosion of Peter's water covered fist.

The explosion this time wasn't that strong as Peter didn't want to hurt his hand, so David didn't blast off too far and quickly threw two earth balls at Peter.

Peter reprocicated by throwing two of his own water balls. As expected the water exploded on impact and created a small dust cloud. The dust cloud was exactly what David needed.

"Earth punishment" he said.

Before Peter could react, four earth pillars rose from the ground around him, encasing him in a small square. Two sharp, smaller pillars then extended from each the larger ones and pierced Peter in six spots. He had managed to block the ones aiming for his head and heart.

The second confrontation between David and Peter ended with David getting the upper hand.

Clara's fight :

Screaming with rage after seeing the state of his arms, the bald man threw a dozen wind blades at Clara, who quickly evaded to the side.

The man then ran forward for close combat, he was obviously physically stronger than Clara, however Clara didn't let him get close. She knew that as soon as the man got into arms length, her death would be assured.

Clara used small fire explosions to temporarily hide from her opponent while dodging. Fire and wind where the worst elements to fight against each other, that was because wind could easily blow away a fire attack and fire couldn't even stop a wind attack.

That was only true for mages at the same rank though, which was exactly the truth between Clara and bald scar man.

"Time to switch it up a notch" Clara mumbled as he raised her hand. The man didn't even think of this as a threat as he had conjured a layer of wind one meter around him. Any fire attack which comes in his direction would get severely slowed down, giving him time to evade.

BANG!

The man was shocked as he touched his face in surprise, he then quickly looked around to see who interfered in their fight.

BANG!

Once again he was hit and this time he saw where the attack came from. Looking back at his opponent, she had two earth balls floating on her open palms.

Mages sometimes forget that they can use all the elements.

The second confrontation between Clara and bald scar man ended with Clara switching to a more effective element.

Adam's...uhhh 'fight' :

'When is everyone going to finish already!?, this is getting tiring.' Adam thought as he dodged a boulder aimed for his head.

Adam had been dodging and running for almost the whole fight. He had wanted to switch opponents before the fight started but didn't get a chance to. Everyone had started fighting and he was stuck with someone he couldn't even hurt.

For the pink haired woman, she had a smile on her face as she attacked Adam. She was most probably taking this as training as she knew she couldn't kill Adam. Even if Adam didn't block and just stood there, it was impossible to kill a mage two ranks above her.

She just had to wait for her team to finish the others and then they would kill him. The woman had faith in her team, after all they had the numbers on their side and the new water technique.

During the fight, Adam did try to attack again but his mana straight up refuses to attack beautiful women.

'At least I can fight average women just fine. I mean, how many beautiful women can there be in the world?' Adam tried to console himself.

The second confrontation between Adam and beautiful pink haired woman continued with Adam running away like the brave warrior he is.

John the Juggernaut's fight :

John looked at his two opponents with worry in his eyes. Both the twins were in the fourth rank, which was one rank lower than himself, however numbers made up for that difference in power.

The other problem was that the twins had excellent teamwork, so it was like John was fighting one person who had two bodies.

The last problem was this water explosion technique. John had never seen it before but he already knew it was going to be troublesome, he involuntarily glanced at his teammates and caught sight of David trapping Peter in the Earth Punishment spell.

'I only need to stall for time' he thought. David should get rid of Peter soon enough. When that happens, either the enemy will retreat or the fight would get even numbers on each side. Either possibility was a win for David's team.

John's thoughts had taken less than a second and he quickly stood up to charge at his opponents. His arms from the elbow down had grown in size due to him making gauntlets from the earth element.

The twins used the same strategy as before. With water blades in hand, one went for the head while the other for John's abdomen.

John wouldn't fall for the same trick twice, lifting one hand, an earth pillar rose from under the twin going for his abdomen. That twin had to stop his attack in order to block the pillar.

The other twin got punched away by John's extended arm. After blocking the pillar, the other twin continued with his attack to John's stomach, however since John had taken care of the other one, he quickly kicked that twin in the face.

John was ready to follow up by stomping the kicked twin's head but had to stop his attack to block an incoming water ball. Knowing what happens after water touches the earth wall, he immediately jumped back and a second later water droplets exploded just were he stood a second ago.

Without wasting time, John made an earth spear from the ground and threw it at the twin closer to him. The twin, seeing the attack easily blocked with a water shield.

That's when he noticed that the earth spear didn't have the amount of power he expected. That could only mean that it was a diversion!, and he was right, as he looked up he saw a giant earth fist inches from his face.

BOOM!

Before John's attack could hit, he was once again thrown away by the attack of the other twin.

"Fuck!" John cursed as he used an earth pillar to stop his momentum. It was almost impossible to land a worthwhile attack on one of the twins, the other one was always ready.

Both twins ran after John with one coming from his left and one from the right. This time they had water gauntlets covering their arms. It seemed they had copied John's technique.

"Shit!" It was impossible for John to block them both so he chose to attack the twin bleeding from his head, this was the twin he had kicked earlier.

He knew the other twin would then get a clean attack on his exposed back, but he could only hope he wouldn't die to to it.

John blocked the twin's arm and sent a quick kick to his mid section, he wanted to kick him away before he could explode his water gauntlet.

Bam!

The kick connected and the twin was sent flying. John quickly turned around because he noticed the other twin hadn't attacked him yet.

Upon turning, he saw the reason for that. The other twin couldn't attack him because he was dead. Cause of death : An arrow through the skull.

John glanced at the earth tower and caught the sight of Chris waving at him with a reasuring smile, his bow in hand.

The second confrontation between John and the water twins ended with John's life being saved by the 'Marksman'.
