Chapter 117 -- Hunting

"Holy shit, he's fast" Cora mumbled as she ran after Zane, she was running at her full speed but Zane was still slightly faster than her.

A mortal was faster than a rank five Mage!. That was unheard of. 'How fast is he going to be once he breaks through' Cora thought 'Where did this monster come from!?'

'The lightning element is amazing!' she thought. It was the only explanation she could come up with to explain Zane's speed.

If only she knew that Zane actually didn't have the lightning element. The reason Zane was this fast was because of his strength due to Body Cultivation.

With each step he took, he put all his power on that leg and pushed off as hard as he could, resulting in his speed.

"Zane do you mind explaining to me what the fuck is going on!?" Cora shouted.

"My father's injuries are too severe, i need a certain organ found in certain types of animals to safely heal him" Zane answered.

"What are you talking about Zane, i also studied healing and what you're saying makes no sense" Cora said.

'Shit' Zane thought 'Alex a little help?'.

"It's part of my methods which i accidentally came up with. Don't you find it weird that a mortal healer like myself is this good at healing. I have secrets and this is one of them. Please keep it to yourself" Zane answered, after listening to Alex's advice.

Zane wanted to talk to Alex more and ask about what had happened but unfortunately his mind was too preoccupied with saving his father. It didn't take long for Zane to find his first target. It was a large black bear.

Zane was about to take out his bow when he remembered that he lost it a while back during the clash with David's team.

With no weapon, Zane dashed forward. The bear saw him coming and not backing away from a fight, it charged at him after releasing a loud roar.

When the bear was five meters away, a small throwing knife appeared in Zane's hand and left it soon after. Two seconds later the bear fell to the ground with a knife going through it's skull.

Zane walked up to the corpse and pulled out his knife before shoving his hand into the bears mouth, pulling out a random organ.

"Fuck this isn't it" he mumbled before dashing in another direction, looking for his next prey.

Cora was following behind Zane, still surprised at his skill. Even if what he did to the bear was not that amazing, most people would at least need five seconds to kill something of that size!.

It didn't take long for Zane to find another prey, it was a wild boar. Once more, Zane used the same strategy, killing the boar before it could react.

He then did the same thing as last time, pretending to look for a certain ingredient inside the boar's body before cursing and running in another direction.

This cycle continued until Zane's body count had reached over fifteen victims. Others were a little harder to kill but he never spent more than half a minute on one prey.

<<This should be enough Zane>>

<<Mana 12 246 :>>

'All that for a little over 12 thousand points?' Zane complained, he remembered getting fifty thousand points for a single mana beast.

<<Well yeah, these guys are too weak>> Alex explained. Zane nodded as he walked to his latest victim, shoving his hand inside the cut on it's chest he came out with a piece of its heart.

"Can i have some water" He said to Cora, who from her palm conjured some water which was used by Zane to wash the organ.

"This should do, let's go back" Zane said and the duo ran back to Zane's farm.

'I haven't ran this much in my entire life!' Cora internally complained.

If it wasn't for the fact that she was a Mage, she would have long fainted from the exhaustion. That further amazed her as to how much stamina Zane had.

A few minutes later, Zane and Cora entered the room where his father was sleeping. Olivia was still sitting beside her husband.

"Father?" Zane called and Owen opened his eyes, and looked at Zane, however he only moved his eyes, not his head.

"Father can you move?" Zane asked. Owen didn't answer. "Can you talk?, or anything!?" Zane asked. This time he was a little calmer than the first time so he could actually think properly.

"Mother what can he do exactly?" Zane asked Olivia.

"He can swallow" Olivia answered. "I feed him through a straw, he hasn't eaten any solid food since the incident"

Zane nodded as he used his fingers to crush the heart into small crumbs before gently stuffing the crumbs into Owen's mouth, of course he would pull them into his inventory as soon as they got into his father's mouth.

Zane wouldn't feed his father a random animal's heart just to keep his secret from Cora.

"Swallow father," he said, and Owen swallowed saliva. He didn't know what Zane was doing but he was just happy to see his son again, even if the circumstances weren't ideal.

Zane put his hand on Owen's abdomen and started healing his limbs, starting from the bones. "What happened?" he asked Olivia.

"Long story short, he almost sacrificed his life to save our village" Olivia said. Zane nodded, that sounded like something his father wouldn't hesitate to do so he wasn't surprised.

After the bones had regenerated fully, Zane started healing the muscles and flesh. "Where did you learn to do that?" Olivia asked.

"I discovered a lot of things about myself when i was away. I had a rough three years" Zane said, thinking about his time living in the forest alone.

Zane then began healing the blood vessels and nerves before finishing off with the skin. Olivia started tearing up when she saw her husband's body reverting back to how it was.

"How do you feel father?" Zane asked. Owen didn't answer, he was still in the same position as always.

Zane furrowed his brows as he pumped more mana into his body, trying to heal whatever was making him unable to move.

However to his surprise, he couldn't anymore. <<Zane there is nothing left to heal. You put so much mana into him that the manipulation skill activated on it's own>>

<<Right now he is one mana core away from becoming a Mage>> Alex explained.

Tears started to flow out of Zane's eyes 'So then why isn't he waking up?'

<<I don't know, but i think there is a way we can find out what's wrong with him>>
