Chapter 25 - Triple Ability (2)

A double ability or triple ability was a combination of more than one ability. But it was not as easy to implement as it sounds.

Knowing Bakugan meant knowing which ability went well with which ability. And this required experience. Of course, combinations could also be found by chance. The double ability was therefore relatively easier to use than the triple ability and more likely to be done by chance.

But since the triple ability involved the use of a combination of two abilities plus a special type of ability called the fusion ability, someone who didn't know their Bakugan or someone who was inexperienced needed a lot of luck to use this combination.

It was this luck that James hoped for and invested in.

"Triple ability activated: Razor Waves + Dark Rey + Fusion Ability: Darkus Realm! Attack!"

The Gargonoid's eyes began to glow with this. As the atmosphere turned black, Gargonoid grinned, its teeth bared. Its entire body was covered in a purple light as it soared upwards, flapping its broad wings. With each flap of its wings, waves of purple, eerily sharp rays of light traveled towards El Condor.

As El Condor tried to dodge these waves, a wave of dark, near-black purplish light shot from the Gargonoid's chest towards El Condor, so dark that it pierced all the purple light surrounding his body!

But then it all disappeared.

Gray was momentarily taken aback, but quickly recovered and inserted his ability card.

"Ability-what?"

But in his momentary confusion, a tragic fate awaited El Condor. Unidentified purple rays from everywhere hit El Condor from all directions! Then El Condor turned into a ball and rolled toward Gray.

James let out a breath. Despite the aura and power of the triple ability, it had not finished him off in one go as he had hoped. But he had succeeded in the triple ability and that was enough.

As the Gargonoid landed emotionlessly on the ground, it turned into a ball and returned to James. James caught it with no problem. But at that moment he saw something weird. The initial vitality had disappeared from the Gargonoid. Its colors, darker than Hammersaur's, had lightened.

At this moment he heard Fox's voice:

[The use of the triple ability has probably worn it down. After all, it was the first time it had ever executed such a command.]

James found this argument quite illogical and absurd, but he couldn't say anything.

Meanwhile, the entire audience was stunned. The use of a triple ability... It hadn't been seen for a long time.

"Something like that... Is it possible?"

"How? What the... What the hell was that?"

"I didn't even see where the ability came from. Triple ability... Unbelievable!"

Gray rubbed his temples as the voices of the audience created a huge buzz. This... This had been harder than he had expected. James' use of the triple ability had been a big surprise. He couldn't even use a triple ability himself!

For some, this could be explained by luck. Gray would no doubt want to believe that. Moreover, James' expression at that moment, as if he trusted his luck, supported it. But Gray's experience told him that such a thing was too absurd to be explained by luck.

After shaking his head in denial, he spoke:

"I don't know what you are, but you will never get the chance to use such a combination of abilities again."

James shrugged.

"Stop with the third-rate villain talk and let's play."

Gray was slightly annoyed as his expression fell, but instead of trying to make light of it, he picked up his gate card and tossed it. After the usual chanting and the waves of the card spread, he threw his bakugan.

"Bakugan brawl! Bakugan stand! Haos Saurus!"

For a moment, the place was aglow. James swallowed as Saurus roared into view. He had a lot of fight in him, but he wasn't sure what he could do now. He couldn't help wondering if Gray had played the command card again.

At that very moment, he once again heard Fox's voice.

[James, you can't win a war without risk. Yes, there are many possibilities, but you have to be able to overcome them. Otherwise, you're not gonna win the next one, let alone this one. You're a smart guy. You can find a way out.]

He took a deep breath, then exhaled. Meanwhile, the traces of hesitation in his mind were erased. He had to take a risk. Even if he had to use combos he wasn't sure about....

Fox's words had indeed been effective. He sighed deeply and picked up the Gargonoid.

Even though its glow had faded, it could last another round. It had to. After that, it could rest as much as it wanted.

"Bakugan brawl! Bakugan stand! Darkus Gargonoid!"

The gloomy atmosphere returned as the Gargonoid was unleashed. But it looked noticeably more lifeless than before.

James muttered to himself.

"Its G-Power has dropped..."

Gray raised his eyebrows. His opponent's Bakugan had lost twenty G-Power. As far as Gray knew, even if it was exhausted after his previous attack, its G-Power shouldn't have felt down. This situation was weird, but it was completely to his advantage. So he laughed.

"Haha! Looks like God is on my side."

James looked at him and rolled his eyes. Meanwhile, Gray quickly used the ability:

"Ability active: Lightning! Destroy it, Saurus!"

Of course he was not going to stop there. He raised his hand and shouted, not wanting to give him the opportunity to perform the previous combo again:

"Gate card open! Haos Reactor!"

As soon as the gate card opened, the area was filled with particles of light. Although it paled in comparison to the glow of Saurus' horns, the brightness was undoubtedly enough to disturb both James and the Gargonoid. Though whether the Gargonoid felt any emotion was unknown.

With that, the Saurus rushed at the Gargonoid. It was determined to get the horn through as before, but James was not going to let it happen this time.

First he went for the most likely combo he knew of!

"Not so fast! Double ability activated: Bright Claws + Dark Rey!"

And so he succeeded.

As the Gargonoid rose into the air, a wave of purple-black colored beams shot from its chest and hit the gate card, shattering it instantly!

"How!?" Gray exclaimed in surprise. However, James grinned.

As soon as Saurus's G-Power reduced, the Gargonoid swooped in with its claws!

It countered Saurus' headbutt-like advance with a swing of glowing purple claws!

At that moment Gray quickly put down his skill card and shouted:

"Ability active: Aura Strike!"

As Saurus' body began to glow, the claw strike only caused it to take a step backwards. However… the Gargonoid flew backwards!

James felt a cold sweat break out and his chest began to tighten. The match had gone on far too long. He was lucky to have lasted this long.

Still, he could not give up. Before Saurus attacked a second time, he placed his ability cards in a row. He had never used this card, but he had high confidence that it would work.

"Double ability activated! Razor Waves + Darkus Cloud!"

And once again he succeeded!

The Gargonoid's wings glowed purple. Then, with his flaps, countless waves of purple light began to move towards Saurus!

Saurus tried to punch it, for there was not much distance between them, but he could not see Gargonoid at that moment. Because he was surrounded by a kind of dark smoke. The Gargonoid took advantage of this to open its distance and took advantage of his flight to send wave after wave of razor blades.

For the first time, Gray didn't know what to do to get out of this situation, as countless times the notification of it came from his glove. He had never seen or heard of such an ability.

And this moment of uncertainty worked in James' favor. At the end of it all, with a great explosion, the Saurus turned into a ball and there was a sound as it rolled to Gray's side:

Gray: 0 Life Points | James: 200 Life Points

James had managed to win again. albeit with great difficulty.
