Chapter 9

THIRD POV

Ana was taken to another country for proper treatment after what happened to her.

Martin did everything he could to help the woman recover, even though she no longer remembers everything, as long as she recovers.

It’s been a month, but the girl hasn’t woken up, so Martin has had to divide his time between Ana and his work. He also couldn’t leave his position because so many people relied on him. Martin also monitors the Villalobos family to ensure that no one loses sight of his plan. He also needs to be patience and wait for Ana to wake up.

Martin also met Cole’s friend Reese, who helped him in treating the girl.

When he had a meeting, he has his staff monitor Ana and notify him of the woman’s condition. Two months have passed, but the woman’s condition is not yet good.

“It’s been two months, Reese; why is Ana still unconscious?”

Doc Reese exhaled a sigh. “It’s difficult to get amnesia, Don Martin,” said Doc Reese. “Her memories are still hidden because the patient may not want to remember everything that happened to her,” Doc Reese stated, looking at Ana, who was still sleeping. “Don’t worry, she’ll be fine,” Doc Reese assured Martin, who only nodded. “I’m leaving…” Reese touched Martin’s shoulder before leaving.

Martin stroked Ana’s hair as he looked at her. “Don’t keep me waiting,” he whispered to her before returning to his work.

He also ordered his staff to take care of Ana’s new identity, as it would be better suited to change her name so that the Villalobos would not be aware that the woman thought to be dead was alive. All the papers are complete, and Ana is the only one who is missing; she must also wake up to continue the plan that was started.

After a few months, he noticed Ana moving and approached the bed.

“Mmm…”

When he heard her voice, his eyes widened. “A-Ana!” He left the room for a while to call a doctor because he was so excited to hear Ana was regaining consciousness.

“Martin? What’s wrong?” Reese asked, as Martin appeared to be rushing.

Martin smirked at Reese. “She’s awake, let’s go!”

They hurried into Ana’s room and opened the door, but were taken aback when the woman was already standing and staring out the window.

“Ana…” Martin called out to her.

Ana turned to face them, and they were taken aback by her blank expression.

“Hello, Martin, I’m awake…”

ANA’s POV

“Ana…”

I couldn’t tell if it was Martin or someone else called my name.

“Wake up!”

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was a dark room.

What am I doing here? Why is it so dark? All I remember is Martin taking me to an old building and showing me… I closed my eyes again and held my head, because I’m unable to recall what had happened to me.

I was about to stand up when my eyes widened to where I couldn’t move. What is going on with me? Why am I unable to move?

I tried to stand up, but something seemed to stop me. “Martin, is that you? Where are you?!” I exclaimed. But all I can hear is an echo of my voice. I just burst out crying because I couldn’t move as if I were tied. “P-please, Martin, don’t be like that! I’m scared!”

Still, no one responded, and I tried harder to move, but I felt as if I were being dragged down. “H-help!” I yelled. When I try to move, my head hurts even more and my entire body heats.

“What is going on?!? Matt, are you insane?”

When I heard a voice, I came to a halt. I recognize the voice. “Mrs. Caridad?”

“No! I love her! We’re getting married!”

When I heard the voice of my ex-husband, my eyes widened. “M-Mateo?” I asked, closing my eyes as my head hurt. “Argh!”

Please! Stop!

“Mateo, break up with her!”

When I remembered Mateo’s parents didn't want me, I stopped struggling and froze. And I remembered that this was the day Mateo would announce that the two of us were getting married, which Mrs. Caridad didn’t like.

She refused to acknowledge me as her daughter-in-law. When I remembered that day, I burst into tears. Not only that, but I’m confused about why she refuses to accept me as Mateo’s wife.

Mateo and I love each other and are each other’s pillars of strength.

“Mateo! Get her out of here!”

“No, Mom! Stop!”

“Chloe! She is the one for you!”

I bitterly smiled as I remembered where my best friend’s name had been mentioned. I also discovered that they had a past relationship.

“Oh, you didn’t know that—”

“Please, Mom, stop!”

“No, I’m going to tell her.”

“Chloe is my son’s ex-girlfriend,”

She even persuades me that Chloe is a better match for Mateo. And I'm fine with it.

Because who am I for Mateo? I’m an orphan who does not know who my parents are. An abandoned child who was left by my foster parent. An independent woman who can endure for me to live my life. And an employee in a small company.

If you compare me to Chloe, a wealthy, famous model, highly educated daughter of a well-known business executive in the country.

Chloe and I are quite unfamiliar, aren’t we?

So, I can’t blame Mrs. Caridad for comparing me to Chloe. But Mateo loves me; I’m the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with, and I’m also the one with whom he dreams. I tried to fight for my love for Mateo, although my honor and dignity were at stake.

Regardless of how many times they tell me to divorce Mateo, or how many times they give me money just to keep me away… I didn’t care because I needed to prove my feelings for Mateo, but they didn’t stop separating us.

“I don’t think you’re suitable for my son.”

I know. And I accept I am not what you really want for your son. But I love him and I will do everything for him.

“Five million for you to leave him.”

Money can’t buy love; even if you give me your wealth, I won’t betray my feelings for Mateo.

“Why do I have to recall that?” I cried. “What is the point of the memories I’ve lost?” I asked myself, and I just bowed down as I bit my lip because why had the painful past returned to my memory?

Even if I wait decades, my questions will remain unresolved.

When I returned to my memory, I was thinking about the last conversation I had with Mrs. Caridad, in which she forced me to divorce Mateo.

It hurts just thinking about my husband’s parents doing this to me. I only wished for a future with Mateo and our future family. And all I asked for was peace.

I took a deep breath and tried to stand up, but my entire body was stuck.

“Ana…”

When my name was called, I was taken aback. I didn’t recognize the voice I heard, and I knew it wasn’t Martin. And she was a woman.

“Who are you, and show me your face!” I yelled. But no one showed me because the entire area was still dark.

“Are you ready to remember everything that happened before the big accident in which you almost died?” she asked.

Her question stunned me even more. Why had I forgotten that I still had memories to remember?

I shook my head and inhaled deeply. “This isn’t a good joke! Stop!” I yelled, but my voice was only echoed.

F-ck. What exactly does she want to happen?

“Memories are places where your life can change.”

I was still shaking and trying to get up because I would rather not hear what she was saying.

“Memories that will make your heart angry, memories that will open your mind to the fact that what happened to you was not a game.”

I shouldn’t listen to her because I already know I’m dreaming. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, nervous that I would awaken from my dream. But instead of bringing me out of the dream, I stayed, and she didn’t stop.

“Is it proper to still love your ex-husband, or should you despise him?” she wondered. To bring myself back to reality, I tightly closed my eyes.

“Stop!” I yelled at her, but she refused to listen.

What exactly does she need from me? I required someone to wake me up, to question Martin until he finally admitted what had happened in the accident.

“The unexpected events—”

“STOP IT!”

“Have you forgotten that your beloved husband betrayed you?” she asked again. Because of her question, I suddenly opened my eyes. “That caused the accident in which you lost your memories and spent several years in a coma.” I shook my head. I can’t take it anymore.

I also remember Martin saying something to me before I passed out. They are both saying the same thing. I’m uncertain if I believe them.

“Wake up the sleeping anger in your heart. Revenge against everyone who has mistreated you…” I turned to my side because she seemed to whisper those words to me. “Bad people will not go away, but you can stop them.” I turned to my other side but couldn't see her.

My tears still kept flowing, and I begged her to stop. “N-no… P-please? Stop it.” I said, just to get her to pay attention.

“I’ll remind you of everything that happened before the accident; get ready, Ana, because you’ll wake up as Ana Mystica at the end.”

I was stunned because there was a light, but I had only just woken, and my surroundings had changed. I feel as if I’ve traveled back in time.
