"Fuck I forgot firewood"
I dragged myself to my feet and walked over to the edge of the cave. I looked down and prepared to jump.
Just before I jumped I remembered the leather bag. I walked back and pulled it onto my shoulder. I also grabbed the sword. I walked back over to the edge and jumped down.
My feet thumped against the ground and a mini crater was formed where I landed. I brushed some soil off my shoulder and started walking into the forest.
Some of the trees were still on fire from last and avoided them as much as I could. If these flames could burn like that, I didn't want to imagine what they could do to me.
Granted, the trees were wood and I probably stood a better chance with my high vitality but I didn't want to chance it.
While I was walking I kept an eye out for firewood but all the wood I saw already burned and it was unsuitable for a fire.
After about an hour of walking, I found myself back at the orc camp. I walked over to the wall and jumped to the top.
"Holy shit"
All of the tents had vanished, all that remained was ash. I could see what looked like millions of orc corpses piled everywhere.
I looked towards the centre of the camp and saw that the commander's tent was still untouched by the chaos surrounding it.
I jumped down from the wall, trying my best to avoid landing on a corpse. When I got down a went over to a corpse to take a closer look.
I looked all over the body, trying to identify the cause of death. As far as I could see there were no marks or any other indicators that might have helped me figure out how he was killed.
I looked at another corpse and it was the same, no visual indicator of how he was killed.
I grabbed the sword and walked over to a corpse. I slowly dragged the sword along the lines arcs arm. Strangely there was no blood. I leaned in to take a closer look.
BOOM
I was thrown backwards by the force of the explosion. I rolled to my feet, my sword in front of my chest ready for an attack.
After I waited for a few seconds and no attack came. I dusted some dirt off my shoulder then walked over to the crater made by the explosion.
I could vaguely see the outline of the orc in the ground but that was all that remained. I walked over to another body and dragged it into the crater.
Again I cut its arm and was thrown back by the explosion. I thought I saw something just after I made the cut but I wanted to be sure.
I grabbed another body and repeated the process. Just after I cut I could see a dark material coming from the cut but then it exploded.
This time I was in no hurry to get up from the ground. I could remember seeing something similar to that black substance but I couldn't remember from whom.
I tried to think back to before I was killed. There wasn't anything like that on the many expeditions I went on, it didn't look like a spell a mage might use.
Then it hit me. That black substance looked like a replica of the material Rheas cloak was made out of when we fought.
I could remember it now. The cloak seemed to raise her strength past the limit of the status, enabling her to defeat me.
"How is that here?" I wondered aloud.
I went to push my sword into the ground to help me get up and it snapped. I thumped back down to the ground and looked at my sword.
The top of it was completely snapped off and the rest of it was decaying at an alarming rate. I quickly dropped it before the decay could reach my hand.
I watched as the grass the sword was lying on withered away. I stepped back a few metres just in case it spread.
After a few moments I approached the sword. If this was the same thing Rheas cloak was made out of maybe, just maybe I might be able to make use of it in a similar way.
I plucked a blade of grass and touched it against the sword. Almost instantly the grass started to decay. When the decay reached my hand I didn't move. I had to see if this would effect me or not. After a few minutes of intently watching the decay I came to the conclusion that it wouldn't have an effect against me.
I steeled myself that did something very stupid. I picked it up. I held the black substance in my hand watching as it squirmed around.
All of a sudden I felt a tingling sensation on my arm. Instead of removing the weird black thing like a sane person would, I kept it there.
After I squirmed around for a few minutes it stopped and so did the weird sensation.
"Bing"
I instantly looked up at the notification message in front of me.
My eyes widened in surprise as I looked at the message.
"Congratulations to the host for taming a "Primordial Slime, level: 47"
"Explanation started: There are different ranks for beasts, similar to inheritances and humans. The ranks are as follows, Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Celestial, Void, Primordial"
"…"
I looked down at the slime then back at the notification.
I calmly read the notification again then looked back down at the slime. I rubbed my eyes, convinced I wasn't seeing straight.
"Primordial Slime, level: 47"
I took a deep breath then slowly put down the slime and backed away. I reached for a sword on the ground, not that it would have any effect on the creature.
All of a sudden the slime jumped towards me. I tried to move back but he was a lot faster than me and latched onto my arm.
I shook my arm trying to dislodge it but it stayed put. I saw the slime sinking into my skin and I put in some more effort to get rid of it.
Despite my attempts after a few seconds the slime had completely disappeared into my skin. I felt something rush through my body and fell to my knees.
