Tolerance and Antibodies

Once Kimi had taken a small dose of what was within the vial, she started feeling very lethargic so she rested for a long time.

During her time in the police force, there were times when she had been poisoned and had to stock up on cures so that she could survive.

It was a big drain on her funds until officers started being introduced to different poison solutions that would help build up a little immunity.

It was not mandatory at the time but Kimi took it on so that her expenses could be reduced and the department had covered the expenses for it.

The funds that were being drained away had been far less and she had less to worry about in combat situations.

The immunity she had slowly built up to reach an acceptable level so that average level poisons could not harm her.

At most they would only have minor effects on her and she would have to be checked over later when exposed to some effects that were near her level of tolerance.

What Old P had given her was something that had been acquired through him hacking into the servers of several groups over his long years on the run and from what he had been taking during his time in the special task force.

It was an improved version to what he had taken in the past and was altered further to match the physique of Kimi who was still ten years old.

Even if it could not contend with what had been released to the public in the future that had been safe to test on public servants her herself, what Old P had produced was still very effective and he would not give her anything that would harm his pupil.

She may have been physically fit and healthy for her age but there were limits to how much she could endure.

Her aura and physical training had continued but it did not make great leaps of progress over the time that had passed.

The growth of it would take time but she could gradually build upon her own aura and physical strength to grow her own personal power past what she achieved in her past life.

Her mastery over the use of her aura was far higher than the amount she possessed so she could use the small amount of it that she had very efficiently.

The dosage given to Kimi had been for her based on the deductions made by old P but he could not factor in her aura training.

Those miscalculations had led to the effects being lighter on her body than predicted and how her body would be quicker to adapt to the toxins within her.

When her body felt like it was under threat, it slowly started working to develop antibodies to overcome the toxins within her.

She had miscalculated about that too due to her not learning aura until much later and only being able to take the solutions to build up a tolerance to a certain level.

There was only so much coverage for them that was given by the department and any higher level serums had to be purchased herself so she never increased her poison tolerance past the basic to intermediate level.

It meant that she had stopped taking them once they no longer had any effect on her body and when she started learning aura, there was no way to see how things were different when she was exposed to them with or without aura training.

Kimi did not improve right away when exposed to the lower grade of toxins which was to be expected but she lay on the bed with her eyes open as she felt a little surprised towards her bodies condition. 'Ah.. this is not so bad. There are no shakes or other side major side effects. This must be something to get me used to the effects of paralysis.'

Kimi could still move a little but it was only some small body parts like her fingers, facial expression and toes.

Gradually she started to regain more control over each part of her body and sat up.

Growithe and Espeon were sat near the bottom of the bed and looked over with a little worry in their eyes. "Growlithe!" "Espeon!"

What Kimi had been exposed to in her previous life had given her the shakes and other effects during the initial stages of taking them due to the bodies more violent reaction to protect itself against them.

She patted them on the head and said weakly. "I am fine."

Kimi pressed the earpiece and said. "I have overcome it."

Old P sounded surprised on the other side and was silent for some time before speaking up again. "That was quicker than expected. You must have a stronger body than most others. Hmm.. I could revise the dosages for you if you wish to do so."

Kimi stretched her body a little and replied. "Not right now. My body has just come out of it and it feels kind of out of place to go in and out like that. Going back in and out again will only cause me to feel disordered if you understand what I mean? The effects may not even be worth it if I start adding more after overcoming it."

Old P responded. "I understand. I will do the calculations and will adjust it for the days ahead of us. I put up the advertisement on the black webpages and there have been no replies yet for you. It takes time to gain some attention and it will take your own efforts to establish yourself out there."

Kimi sighed. "So long as it has been moving forward as planned. Now that I have a place to work from and can use to get around, I can travel to all kinds of places to complete different kinds of tasks."

Saffron City was not too far from Cerulean City where her dad was staying and working so she could pop in or contact him if she was in the area or needed to check in on him.

The business he was working on for her would run smoothly with the information she left behind and it was not difficult for her to retrieve the Ditto that were staying in the pond in the back garden that were disguised as Feebas.

The sooner that there was some form of task that she could receive then the better it would be for her to build up her underworld business.

In order for her to seem like a legitimate person that could support herself and the expenses she would have to spend along the way, there had to he other things in place that could provide a cover for her.

Although Kimi had not yet thought of everything yet, she did have some ideas that she was pondering over. 'Is it worth contacting them again now that I am here or should I just let old relationships from that life remain where they should be…'

Among the people of the world she was a part of, there were people who could be good acquaintances but it would be difficult to have too close of friends when she would have to keep a part of her life secret from them.

The mental age of Kimi was another issue that made it more difficult to adjust again to making new friends that were a similar age to herself.

Nobody else knew the weirdness of being able to remember two lives she lived before her two deaths and returning to her past after that.

She was in the body of a ten year old girl but she was much older than that but if she was asked her mental age then she would fail to give a completely accurate answer.

There were some relationships that she did explore during her many years before regressing so she had made some friends and explored having a closer relationship with a lover but her job often got in the way.

The close friends she did make were either from her department or were from the same city she lived in during the time she was working.

Unless it was related to work or was nearby, she had little time to have closer relationships but those that she did come to know and stuck around her would be considered by her as close friends.

The difference between then and the present was that she had changed from her past self and they no longer knew each other anymore.

There were those that she did not wish to run into, some she had some regrets towards and others that she would like to meet again but was unsure if she could face them with how she had changed.

There were some acquaintances or people that she knew within or around Saffron City that she believed could be worth contacting so she started making some notes of them before going to bed.

While there were others that Kimi was still very unsure about, there were some people that were placed within the regrets column that came along with many other people and events that Kimi thought she could change if she had more power and had more foreknowledge of those events.

There had been lives of her past close friends, colleagues or acquaintances that had been lost or there had been major events that she could not interfere in due to her lack of power.

Those regrets piled up over the years and since she was given a new chance at life then she could either put them behind her and move on or she could make some effort to stop them from happening just like she had done the same for moving her father away from Viridian City, finding the Leaf Stones underground and stopping a disaster that would happen within Mt. Moon.
