AN UNFORTUNATE EVENT

The monster was approaching closer and closer with each step the ground would shake with a *thump!!! thump!!! sound.

Mother gave me a tight hug and whispered "It will be alright, Tatlom just run as far as u can and don't look back no matter what".

She pushed me with a gentle touch, I ran like crazy trumping over the dead body. The Ground was filled with blood, I slipped and fell, I couldn't help myself from looking back.

I saw a dreadful scene it was like a nightmare. The monster swung his big arms and cut mother's neck into two, blood spill (plrsssshhh²) from the neck, the head flying off and fell on the ground. Her body slowly started to crumble, she fell to her knees and then fell completely in the ground laying motionlessly. Everything was playing in slow motion as if I have entered a different dimension. He holds her head with the hair. Blood dripping off, an image so dark and fearsome drank the dripping blood by lifting her head.

I rushed towards her crawling, I was crying and screaming. I fell into her body with blood dripping from my forehead I was badly injured."What a beautiful scene to watch" the monster said he burst into a peal of evil laughter. I was afraid, hugging the corpse I cried.

"Oh, I see what a poor kid, let me help u end your suffering," he said, his white glowing eyes were now burning in flames I was dead scared. He summons the burning fire, the fire swarm around his arms in a circular motion, and reaches his hand he then fires it towards me. (fireball he shouted)

The fire was closing in every second. It was in front of my face only a centimeters away. I raised my hands to protect myself. Boom!!! the impact sounded, smoke all around. Laughter can be heard from the monster, the smoke was clearing, the scene became clear by every second.

The monster's face panicked as he finds I was far away and safe from the blast. I was shocked too because I was supposed to be hit by that fireball. I realize I was moved from my initial position towards my left. Who was it? I looked to my right with a pale and tired face. I saw no one I then hurriedly looked toward the monster.

But a figure was standing in front of me blocking my view of the monster he had two swords on his back.

The monster laughed and said "so it was you who saved him" my eyes were filled with hope and my hands were shaking watching that figure. He had a very strong aura around him.

He further continued"I will not let slide such a humiliation you shall die now hero, behold my fearsome power" saying that the flames on his eyes ignite even further.

White smoke came out from the nearby corpse and all of it gather toward him, all that was left was the ashes of the corpse. As this was happening his size grow a bit bigger. His already sharp and long claw was longer and more than before. A third eye opened on his forehead.

"This is my full powers, I will devour everyone in this village and u will not be able to protect anyone hero. what a good way for u to die isn't it being remembered as a hero" he said.

The man chuckled, "hmp, who cares about being a hero, they are just scumbags.

"Then why are you giving away your life for them," the monster said.

" it's simple I just can't stand injustice in front of me"

"Then die" By saying this the monster was moving towards him in rage, he was so fast my eyes couldn't follow. But as he was doing his tricks my eyes was adapting to its speed

A few seconds and I was able to track his for a moment when he changes his direction.

The monster reaches his behind step on the wooden pillar. He was attacking him from behind. Putting his hands forward to rip his throat apart.

Mister...before I could finish this the monster was split into two. I was amazed how could he even do that. He didn't even move a little yet the monster was dead on the ground.

So is this the power of a hero? He turned towards me giving off a smile. Then slowly walked towards me and asked" Are u hurt? in a calm tone"

"Yes, I am"I replied as I was on my knees.

I couldn't take my eyes off him he was standing tall and not even a sign of fear was on his face.

"Can u walk? if u can then go and find work" he said.

He stood there for a moment for me to reply. I didn't say anything as I was overwhelmed by him.

He turned around and then started to walk away. I came to my sense I caught his cape.

"Mister I now don't have a family and home, moreover no one will give work to a 7years old kid.

If you don't mind then can I stay with you

I want to exterminate all evil from this World, I will not leave even a single of them alive my heart was raging.One could see how desperate I was to my revenge.

Mister, you are strong, please teach me magic I beg of you. I will do anything So please teach me my eyes were filled with tears.

"Sorry I can't" he replied.

"Hey kid I may look like a nice guy but I am not and I am not a hero. I am a rebel, I don't stay in a place for long. I help people and they give me money in return see it's a win-win. And even if I train you there's no way you can even afford a magic item even if you work for a lifetime. Ahh! just forget about it. You are useless you will never be able to kill even a single monster "he said

He was leaving after saying those words facing me away. I was angry, the fire started to spin in a circle around me, I then Made a fireball in my hands and fire it towards him. My firewall was condensed and made a hole in the tree. His back was facing towards me yet he dodges it thanks to his instinct...

My body was so weak that I fainted after I cast that magic and fell on the door on my chest.

I woke up on the bed. It was a hot summer day. My heart was spinning for about a mins then it finally stables. I walked out of the room, I saw a man around his thirties cutting firewood.

Without even gazing back he asked are u awake kid. It took pretty long huh!.

"Now come here and get on to work, "he said.

I picked up the axe and started to chop the firewood.

I asked, "who are you,u mister?"

He sighs "Huh.. so you don't remember the one who saved you, what a pain".

I had sweats on my face making a confused-looking face.

"But? you refused to take me with you," I said.

Making no expression on his face he said "chop this woods and meet me inside later".

Saying this he went inside the house.
