Night Gone Wrong

Looking at the trace of blood coming from the wound his sister suffered, coupled with her very pale skin that has already slowly turning cold, Mathias widened his teary eyes as he shouted at the top of his lung realizing that his sister is not with him anymore.

"SISTER!!"

Mathias was holding back his tears before, but now everything burst out like a waterfall.

Reaching out his trembling hand he caresses Bealey's face which is already tilting to the side, her eyes aren't even closed, exposing the lifelessness inside them. Sobbing violently, Mathias pulled her sister's head and hugs her dearly.

Even though he was supposed to be silent and leave this place, he literally can't move his body.

Both of his knees are nailed to the ground and his blood runs cold upon seeing his sister's lifeless state, Mathias kept hugging her sister for a solid minute while letting out every pent-up emotion inside of him.

Now he's all alone in this world, he doesn't have anyone to lean on anymore.

It feels that it was not that long ago when his father died leaving him with his sister, and now his sister died trying to protect him from those Werewolves. At this moment, Mathias feels a wave of helplessness.

Regrets started to fill his heart, he realized that he was a burden and lucky to be alive this long.

Many good people died along his journey through the years fleeing from the Supernatural races, and each one of them is way stronger than him. But in the end, he was the one to survive the longest. Mathias feels undeserving to still be breathing right now.

But as his mind was occupied by sorrow, Mathias feels his sister's corpse slipping away.

Opening his eyes he saw that a black hand is pulling and lifting his sister's corpse, Mathias tries to hold Bealey's corpse but he was too weak. Looking being his back he saw the Werewolf that has half-red and half-blue eyes taking his sister's corpse.

"No, please...", Mathias mutters as his mouth started to quiver.

Even though he was pleading with the Werewolf that doesn't seem to have any remorse for him, his hand was still trying to reach Bealey's corpse but it was already out of his reach. The Werewolf already lifted Bealey's corpse which is still stained with fresh blood.

Mathias crawls to the Werewolf stiffly, feeling the helplessness drowning him again.

"P-Please... Please..."

Completely ignoring the pleading Mathias, the Werewolf sniffs Bealey's corpse before it smacks its lips in delight. Starting from the head, the Werewolf takes one huge bite that crushes Bealey's head completely.

Upon catching the glimpse of it, Mathias instantly averted his gaze away.

Splash!

From above his sister's own blood showered him and drenched his entire head and body, this warm feeling paralyzed his entire body as his eyes trembled while looking at the bloodied ground. Mathias' breathing has become rigid and short, terror washed over him like a fearsome tidal wave.

Not long after that, the crunching sound of bones breaking filled the entire place.

Mathias didn't move from his spot and kept looking at the ground, the menacing sound is holding him in place in a tightening grip. Under the intense shock, he can hear his own beating heart hammering in his ears before it slowly fades and turned into a ringing sound.

Everything that is happening right now cripples his brain, his mind is in a mess right now.

It went on for a moment that feels like an eternity for Mathias that is still covered with his own sister's blood. When the Werewolf was done with the deed, it slowly crouches in front of him menacingly.

From his vision, Mathias can only see the Werewolf's bloodied mouth in a blurry sight.

Despite still breathing rigidly and shortly, he tries to raise his stiff head to see the Werewolf that has just devoured his own sister. Mathias's breath was cut short when his eyes landed on the glaring animalistic eyes that are looking at him.

Cracking a devious smirk, the Werewolf reaches out its bloodied claws for Mathias to see.

Although there was no conversation to be made even though a Werewolf this strong would definitely be able to speak, Mathias knows that the Werewolf is mocking him and also told him that he would die this time.

Looking back down to the ground, Mathias gripped the dirt with his hands as his body tensed.

But when he was going to resign his life to fate, his eyes caught a reflection of light from an object from the side half-submerged in blood. Realizing what it is, Mathias tries to steady his breath before a flash of determination appeared in his eyes.

'At the very least, try to survive to see that change...'

Out of nowhere, his sister's voice seeped into his ears reminding him to at least try to survive.

Mathias knitted his eyebrows together before he quickly reaches out for the dagger on the side, he then raises his gaze to look at the Werewolf that was surprised by the sudden move before he thrust the dagger forward.

Since the Werewolf is underestimating him, it was caught off guard by this.

With the dagger thrusting momentum and reach, Mathias managed to stab the Werewolf's right eye. Blood gushes out of the Werewolf's right eye which sparks a smile on Mathias's face, he even hears the painful growl coming from the Werewolf.

Realizing that he succeeded in hurting the Werewolf, this is his chance to escape.

At least that is what he intends to do but his body is refuse to move.

Growl!

"Kahkk!", Crimson liquid out of nowhere gushed from his mouth, forcing its way out of the normal path of life. Mathias instantly feels his body loses power by the second, he then looks down and finds black steel claws are already dug their way into his chest.

Not stopping inside his chest, the claws burst out from the back, penetrating through his body.

Even though Bealey wanted him to survive and live long enough with the hope of seeing the change when the savior of humanity came, reality struck hard as he didn't even manage to survive five minutes after her death.

If it's the perfect world then he would be given time to adjust his mind and get stronger.

But life has never been fair to anyone and Mathias is not an exception to that, the Werewolf growled menacingly right on his face with its right eye turned into mush from being stabbed. The dagger in his hand slowly slipped before falling to the ground and creating a clinking sound.

Mathias looks up with his heavy eyes, trying to find peace in this hectic moment.

'Sister, I'm sorry... I'm not like you, I'm too weak and can't survive on my own. I'm sorry...', Mathias mutters inwardly feeling guilty for not being able to fulfill his sister's hope, there's no escaping this situation anymore.

This is it for him, this is the end of his line as death would definitely come to pick him up.

Not long after the view of the clear night sky that is decorated with a single glowing crescent moon was invaded and blocked by a huge mouth filled with sharp teeth, Mathias can only close his eyes in response before the Werewolf bites his head off.

"W-What is happening?! Why is the formation breaking?!"

In the middle of a dense forest that is surrounded by Hyperion trees that are reaching the sky, there seems to be a group of people consisting of about thirty people wearing black robes circling somekind of magic formation that is engraved in the ground.

Placed on either side of the formation is a huge vessel and a blue glowing orb that feels magical.

Standing in the middle of the magic formation is a figure, chained on all of his limbs.

From a glance, the figure should be a teen not older than the age of seventeen with messy long silver hair, wearing haggard and shriveled clothing that is also a bit dirty. But right now the teen has his entire body invaded by ominous black energy.

Many of the people in black robes were in chaos, they struggled to restrain the teen.

One particular person that wears a black robe with a big skull symbol on top of the black robe is looking around in alert, it seems he just got to the place and saw the chaos happening right in front of his eyes.

"Sir Aiden, there's something wrong with the Lunar Blessed Oleander!"

A person immediately approaches Aiden from the side before reporting the situation, and this made Aiden grit his teeth as he saw twenty people in robes that are holding the chains tightly were slowly being overpowered by the teen in the middle.

Just beside Aiden that arrived alongside him is a woman, she has a bedazzling set of blue eyes.

"We must consider this a failure and kill that thing immediately, the Grand Witch's Mana Orb is going to break any second now. If that thing is not killed by the time the Mana Orb shatters and it breaks free, the Grand Witch wouldn't be able to control it", the woman advised, wanting to stop this chaos before it was too late.

But Aiden is clearly reluctant in killing the teen, it can be clearly seen in his face.

Looking at the teen that has his frail body gaining more muscle mass and getting bigger, Aiden was still undecided, "Just how can this be happening, we've calculated and run tests on everything from the amount of Shapeshifter Blood, the proper magic plant, and even the amount of mana needed to make this a success. We've invested so much! It can't end like this!"

Knowing exactly the frustration Aiden is feeling right now, the woman sigh and keeps silent.

While Aiden is pacing left and right trying to figure out why this is happening, his eyes then landed on a plant near the teen that should be the Blessed Lunar Oleander. Squinting his eyes, Aiden finds that the energy emitted from the Blessed Lunar Oleander and its color is different.

"Isn't it supposed to be white? How did it suddenly turn black?", Aiden mutters in confusion.

But then suddenly he gazes up to the sky before his eyes widened in shock seeing that the clear night sky is decorated by a ball of glowing light, it was a complete ball that instantly strikes Aiden's mind in realization, "Damn it, today is the Full Moon! We've made a mistake!"

"Full Moon? What's wrong if we do this during the Full Moon?", the woman asked.

Aiden then looks back at the Blessed Lunar Oleander before he has a theory in mind, "I don't know exactly, but the Full Moon definitely corrupted the Blessed Lunar Oleander and causes this chaos. We've neglected tha-"

Roar!!

Both of their bodies freezes when they heard an ear-shattering roar.

Snapping both of their heads toward the magic formation quickly, their eyes widened finding that there are only broken magic chains scattered on the ground and the Blessed Lunar Oleander. None of them saw the sight of the teen anywhere.

Out of nowhere, a painful scream penetrates their ears.

Glancing to the right they saw blood splattered everywhere as the people in black robes are being attacked by a figure covered mostly in black furs except its face, its body is also way bigger compared to a normal adult, at least three times bigger in width and two times height.

Equipped with thick and sharp claws, the creature butchered the people left and right.

Upon realizing that the teen has broken free and was dwelling in an onslaught, the woman's eyes instantly glow blue before she takes out a short sword from underneath her robe, "Sir Aiden, let me kill it right now! It hasn't turned completely yet, say the words before it's too late!"

Aiden looks at the teen that has turned into a monster while clenching his jaw.

But when the people in black robes were reduced to five from their original numbers, he finally looks down knowing that there's no hope to recover this project, "Just kill it and get this over with, there's no hope in recovering him..."

Immediately after getting the command, the short sword got cloaked with bright blue energy.

Swoosh!

The woman didn't waste any time and immediately makes a dash toward the teen quickly, she managed to reach the teen and blocked his strike, saving the person that was about to be sliced in two by the claws.

Roar!

Seeing that someone is fighting back, the teen growled loudly as it becomes angrier.

Under the strength of the monstrous creature the woman frowned feeling that the creature's strength is increasing to the point of almost suppressing her, she realized that she would not be its match if she waited for a second longer.

Parrying the claws, the woman chanted something as three icicles burst from the ground.

Swish!

Without being able to react the monstrous creature got stabbed by the three icicles from all sides, pinning it in its place. Moving elegantly like water, the woman then jumped before stabbing the monstrous creature with her short sword right on the temple.

The woman then landed behind the creature before she cleans her short sword with a swing.

Blood splattered on the ground in a crescent shape before the woman sheathed back her short sword again, she then turns around and started walking back to Aiden. While walking back, the three icicles dissipated before the creature falls to the ground with a heavy thud.

"Should we recover the ingredients?", the woman asked.

Upon hearing this Aiden shakes his head in response, he feels sad about the project going wrong.

"No, they all are already corrupted anyway. Let's just get out of here, I need to prepare the ingredients all over again so I need to get back quickly", Aiden replied before turning around and walking away.

With hand signals, the woman instructed the surviving five people to retreat.

The woman then follows after Aiden leaves the place that is filled with corpses and blood of the fallen, they don't even realize that the teen's corpse from before reverted back from his monstrous form into his original human form.

Silence covered the entire place as only the sound of insects filled the calm night.

After a while since Aiden and the woman left the place, the teen's body suddenly glows with a subtle white hue. Every little injury started to close up at a visible rate, and it went on for half a minute before out of nowhere, the teen jolted his eyes awake and instantly sit up.

Blinking his eyes a couple of times, the teen looks around with a clear frown on his face.

"Where am I...?"
