Chapter 46

"What?" They all exclaimed at the same time after hearing the declaration that Flora was a goddess by Bredret.

"That is correct." Flora nodded to confirm that statement by the trembling dragon.

"But.. if you're a goddess why are you here in Dradel?" Leo tilted his head at the thought of a god just wandering around a kingdom. It almost felt like a joke to him.

"We're living things too, young prince." Flora felt insulted by his assumption of her.

"I know that.. but I mean..." Leo shuffled to think of the words to fix what he had said, but he was drawing a blank in his mind. Then he realized she had mentioned him being a prince and tried to recall when he had ever given her his title has prince. He felt bewildered.

"If you're wondering how I know you're the crown prince of Cadirade do not forget I am a goddess, after all. I have the abilities to read anyone I choose to. Though, you should not assume us gods all wander around in some unknown place to the world. All of us live just as normal a life as everyone else that lives in the realm." She sighed softly as she hated having to explain herself every time a mortal found out about her. That was why she was happy with everyone assuming she was just a great magician. It was much simpler than constantly explaining things to mortals.

"I never meant anything by it, I just can't picture a god among regular people so easily!" Leo was trying to defend his thoughts, but he felt like was just digging a deeper hole every time he spoke. He could even see Daryl giving him a look that looked like he wanted to tell him to shut himself up.

"I know, it's a question all mortals try to assume about us gods in the world. We live as immortals so everyone jumps to the idea that we could never blend in with others, but that is not true. All gods in the realm live along side the mortals. We do not involve ourselves with mortal wars or conflicts, but we are there watching from the sidelines to ensure that divine things do not obstruct the natural flow of things. Naturally I was suppose to do the same thing. If you are here I naturally assume you already know about Chynir otherwise I do not see why you would be looking for powerful beings to help you, plus him!" She pointed at Bredret causing the dragon to shudder more violently.

"Yes." They all affirmed.

"There are other gods already trying to deal with him and naturally I was suppose to be one of them to do the same if they realized where I was, but the other gods do not know I am here in Dradel. I have no interest in your war or with Chynir."

"But as a goddess aren't you suppose to deal with-" Daryl started to speak but Flora cut back in and interrupted his assumption that she was suppose to deal with the rogue god.

"No! I have already said I have no interest in Chynir or your war. I have lived here for a decent amount of mortal years and I have no interest in losing my peace for the sake of risking my life to fight with another god who decided to go rogue. That man was always a loose canon all these years. When he was still a mortal his soul was a nice and pure one and it was great to see him become a god, but after a few thousand years the man grew bored more and more as time past. I am not surprised he decided to start toying with mortals during his free time. As long as he leaves me out of his games then I have no problem with him."

"Risking your life? You're immortal though?" Leo questioned the thought for a moment.

"As I tried to explain to you young things... We're living too! A god can kill another god! If a god decided to go against another god in battle the divinity that is carved into the gods soul gifts him with the ability to end another gods life. It is the rule of life. Everything living must die some day! Therefore, when the realm grants a divine being god hood it carves that rule onto the gods soul itself that if another god is to fight him in battle he can surely kill the god like a normal mortal could die. That is why some gods just go straight into hiding and strictly keeping to the rules of the realm. If the rules are broken and the other gods decide to end the one who went against it they can surely die."

"So... why isn't anyone going against Chynir?"

"They are, but gods have a different way of taking care of things. When they battle they do not fight in front of mortals. Could you imagine the power of a divine being being safe in front of you mortals?" Flora laughed at the thought.

"Right..."

"That really does sound dangerous..."

"Yea..."

"But of course! How do you think mountains collapse? Do you really think that is some natural disaster? If two gods go to fight they purposely choose locations to do so that are away from mortals for the sake of the realm. Imagine the force strong enough to turn the tallest mountain into a flat slab of land... then take that force and imagine what would have happened if they had fought in a city of a kingdom."

Everyone's faces flushed green at the thought.

"Exactly!" Flora smiled brightly when they realized the disastrous power that could happen if they weren't careful.

"You wont help us?" Daryl sighed his question out and saw the woman shaking her head at him.

"When the time comes and you actually find Chynir I wish you the best of luck, but as long as things here are left unharmed I have no reason to help you in your fight. Your group has potential and I will even leave that idiot over there cowering alone and let him help you as long as the fact I am here is left unspoken to the outside world."

After a while longer of talking the group eventually accepted the fact that Flora refused to help them. She had already given them information that they had been unaware of and even left Bredret alone in exchange for leaving the fact she was in Dradel alone so that she could continue to live in peace. They ended up still feeling dejected a bit, however, as they left her home and went on their way forward once again.

After they left Flora did not sit and relax, however. She ended up sending out several notices that night to her own personal contacts and then headed out to see the king of Dradel.
