Chapter 315

Vorbuk slowly moved closer to Captain Cory as he watched Elas carefully.

Allisa. Find General Vulen. Elas thought hard as he looked over at the archer elf, Allisa. His gaze tried to make her understand. If only one of them could make it out of this situation he wanted it to be her. She would be able to find the general without him.

"Elas! Don't-!" Allisa tried to shout at him not to be reckless.

Ashley moved close behind her in an instant. Knocking against her back hard with the end of his scythe. She was knocked down onto her knees as he ordered her, "Quiet."

The tree vines moved with Elas as he rushed Captain Cory with his sword. His eyes kept watch over the wolf's every action as he fought the pirate. Cory's own sword clashed with a loud scraping sound with his. Only thing Elas could do was struggle against the pirate as Vorbuk was in beast form. He had to keep the pirate busy while being cautious of the beast.

Sorry, Allisa. I do not have a choice right now. Elas stubbornly thought to himself.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Tree vines pierced into the ground as they chased after the wolf. Vorbuk dodged every one while panting. His body was becoming exhausted slowly however his training over the months had greatly improved compared to when he first arrived in this world. The beast could see Ashley off to the side watching over the archer. Vines were starting to attack the vampire as well. Elas was trying to distract all three of them at the same time.

Is he trying to help her? Vorbuk thought briefly before his mind was shaken back to his own condition.

A tree vine managed to slice open a fresh cut on Vorbuk's side. Growling in pain from the wound his mind snapped back to Elas instantly. He had no time to think about that girl while he was in a fight with Elas.

The wolf jumped at Elas from behind while the elf was distracted with fighting the pirate captain, Cory. Cory's sword was very erratic. Every motion was swift, violent, and difficult to predict. Pirates did not use precise movements like knights under a king. They were wild and fought in their own way.

Elas felt something was wrong as the wolf jumped at him from behind. Sensing the incoming attack he quickly tried to dodge it. In his mind he had forgotten about the sword of the pirate in front. Managing to avoid the impact from the wolf he felt a second of relief. His own weapon faltering...

His mind froze.

A sharp pain could be felt in his stomach.

Was I stabbed? Elas thought as his body jerked slightly as Captain Cory's sword was pulled from his body in front.

No, I must at least help her... She must.. Elas struggled to think straight as the pain surged throughout his body from his wound. He was struggling to remain standing as his free hand clenched against the wound to slow the bleeding. Warmth covered his hand while his other still wielded his sword against the pirate captain.

Elas's green eyes flashed as the tree vines moved more violently. Aiming for the vampire, Ashley, they lashed and stabbed at him. Many of them piercing into the ground like they were desperately lashing out at him.

Ashley used his blood scythe to cut down vine after vine that aimed for him. His attention was difficult to remain focused on the archer by his side. It was his life or hers in that moment. Every strike was violent as they became extremely erratic. The elf did not care about keeping to a pattern behind his attack. He had become desperate in his final moments.

It did not matter how the wolf or pirate fought back against the elf. Elas would gladly give his life to protect those important to him. Whether he was captured or killed. He would not go down without a fight and seeing to it that his friend escaped safely.

Allisa knew what Elas was trying to do for her. There was also little chance she would be able to help him right now. They were outnumbered.

She could see that the vampire was busy taking care of himself. It was her chance to run. Climbing back onto her feet she grabbed her bow. Her feet wasting no time to run. It was the only thing she could do right now. If she did not escape neither of them would be able to do so again.

Elas smiled to himself as he saw Allisa escaping while he had the vampire distracted. The blood from his wound was making him feel tired and weak. It was becoming difficult for him to keep going. His magic was beginning to waver.

BAM!

The wolf slammed into Elas from behind causing him to stumble forward. Sword falling from his hand as his body hit the ground hard. He could hear the sound of footsteps approaching him from the side and behind.

Captain Cory stood above the elf as he looked down at him with the wolf, Vorbuk by his side, "If it wasn't for you being useful I'd cut you down here elf."

"Heh." Elas wanted to laugh, "The one with my life in their hands is the beast though, correct?"

"Are you sure I can't just cut him?" Captain Cory asked.

"I agree." Ashley wanted the elf to die as well.

In a fog of black smoke the wolf shifted into his human form in order to stop them from acting rashly, he was certain Ashley would not hesitate to really go through with killing the elf, "We have use for him right now. Ashley, you lost the archer."

Ashley flinched at his master's words, "... Right."

Allisa escaped. That is all that matters. Elas thought to himself as his consciousness faded away. He could not believe that he was caught by a group of people like them. It someone felt like his pride was being stabbed in the back.

"Take him back for now and make sure he doesn't die right away. We need to question him." Vorbuk ordered the vampire.

"Yes, master." Ashley gave a respectful bow before hoisting the elf up over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. It was clear that he did not care about the elf's wounds in the slightest. The sight of it made Vorbuk's face pale as he questioned his choice in giving the task to Ashley.

The fire seemed to be dying down from Prince Leo on the other end. It was a sign that the fight was coming to an end. The pirates had cleared out most of the knights. They were only finishing up the ones that were left. Once the fight was over he would need to check with Prince Leo about the events that had occurred. He would need his opinion on how to deal with the elf as they both had encountered Elas in the past.

"The battle could be considered over. We should start preparing to move out." Captain Cory was not one to delay leaving. The longer they lingered after the battle was over the more chance they had at being caught in another one. Second battle always got worse as they would be prepared for the pirates the second time.
