A couple of hours later, King Dominique Handhoff was back at the palace and giving a speech about how he would do better for Rhodes and grow the legacy that his father, grandfather, and forefathers before them wanted for Rhodes. When he was done, he retreated from the cameras and into the walls of the palace. He had taken off the cloak and was wearing a military uniform underneath.
His children looked at him and they could see a king. His wife looked at him and she saw the part of the man she loved, the man who had died seventeen years ago. Their lives had changed. Most of them thought it was for the better, but Lucia thought it was a mixed bag. Things in her life were going to be different. She thought that there were going to be times in her life when she would be seeing her father but speaking to the king. She feared that there was going to be a time when she would want her father and she would have to ask him to put away the king.
