Yen and Julian! (2)

Link let Julian go, prepared for the worst. He thought that Julian would go back on his word and ask his dad for help but to Link's surprise. He didn't.

It went smoothly. He did not say anything about what happened to him with Link, he was so scared and jumpy.

"Did i traumatize the kid?" Link asked himself.

Julian took out his heirloom and told the real story to his father and the School. Even though they knew something was up at the time they didn't care, and neither did they care now.

The students felt bad for Yen though, they've been ignoring her for a while now. The Military School feigned ignorance to the whole issue, claiming that they were deceived as well and took what they thought was the right decision at the time. Although they did not offer her to come back to school, saying that it was a decision that they cannot go back on.

Julian went back home, he was suspended from school. Which pissed a lot of people off. They wanted him expelled but nothing happened of the sort.

Yen was surprised, everything was happening too fast and she felt overwhelmed. People came to apologize and kids of her age started talking with her again. She was extremely happy.

Lucias Goujin, Julian's father, was fuming. His reputation took a deep fall and it was all his son's doing.

He knew about the truth from the start, since he sent people to retrieve the Heirloom from Yen but ended up finding it in his Son's belongings. He looked the other way and supported him, but now he was paying for his son's misdeeds.

He never hit Julian or yelled, but that day he did. He wanted to know what the hell made him do all of that. And the answer shocked him.

"A kid managed to do all that?" Lucias thought to himself. He did not believe his son's story at first, but when the Goblin Quest was marked as completed in the Adventurer's Guild. He started investigating Link and his connection with Yen.

Link was expecting something like that, and he was prepared. Unlike back in his old world, he has nothing to lose here.

<What if he goes after Yen?>

"He wouldn't" Link smiled "This guy is a politician. His reputation took a fall because of the incident with Yen and Julian. What would people think if anything happened to Yen?" Link asked.

<They would blame him for it. I get it now, you're smarter than you look>

"And you're a voice in my head, so technically we have the same look" Link laughed.

Rumors spread about Link. Since Julian's group saw Link take him somewhere and then his sudden change of attitude, it wouldn't take a genius to put two and two together.

Link never spoke with Yen anymore though, he did not come talk to her again after that day. She really wanted to see and speak with him but it seemed like she always managed to miss him.

"Why did he help me?" She would always think about it, sometimes keeping her up at night.

Link was a Bronze 5 Star Adventurer now, after completing a bunch of Quests in only 2 days. People in the Guild started calling him the Super Rookie.

Link noticed people watching him, and he knew who they were affiliated with. He would once in a while drop his guard and make an opening for them to attack but they never did. They just watched him.

"What is he trying to do?" Link thought to himself. He was not worried about them attacking him. Since he Leveled up and got himself a new Skill from a creature he killed.

Link started Consuming all the Cores he found, other than the ones he needed for his Quests.

He killed everything that he found, going deeper into the forest. This Area was not like the Military Academy he came from. There was no Hierarchy between the creatures. But something different.

They had Territories. Each powerful creature had a Territory, with other Monsters living in them. They had control over said Monsters and would fight to conquer more. Link was surprised and impressed by this information. He knew that most creatures were smart but he didn't think they could go this far.

<Maybe the situation you saw back in the Academy was special, and it is like this in your continent as well.>

"Yeah, i think so too" Link muttered.

Link killed a Creature that owned a territory, consuming its Core and killing all its underlings. That was when he got the Skill.

<Mana Illusion: Allows the User to create fear, happiness or sadness in any target. As long as the Mana provided is enough>

It was an odd Skill but Link liked it. It had its pros and cons.

Its Cons were that Link would need to Keep pumping Mana into it until he beats his Targets Mana.

If the Target has more Mana than Link, the Skill would fail and all the Mana used on it would be wasted.

These were the things that worried him. He would risk using it on someone, if the target has more Mana than him, Link would only find out after putting all his Mana in there.

Its Pros were that it worked.

Link loved its effects. Using it on a Level 2 Beast. He saw the magnificence of the Skill.

The horror the creature saw, Link could not see it. But the way its face twisted and turned, its body trembled, freezing in its spot were frightening. Only god knew what the hell you'd see when it is used on you.

Link started killing creatures easily. Even Managing to Kill Level 3 Creatures with no issues. Although he had to use a lot of Mana, he managed to Level Up with ease. Especially after he managed to reach 15 Points in strength. He noticed the effects straight away. He felt like a king.

Link would always manage to slip away from his hidden stalkers whenever he left the City. Just in case they would see something they shouldn't.

As he was walking back into the City, Link heard someone call for him.

"Hey" It was Yen, running towards him. She wore her armor with a sword on her hip. She looked like she just came back from a Quest as well. "Link. I've been looking for you everywhere" She said, taking deep breaths.

Link did not want to have anymore contact with her. He considered his dept paid and there was no reason to bother her any longer.

"Hi, Yen. Did you need something?" He smiled.

"Yeah. I wanted to ask you something for a while now" She said, looking at him "Were you really the one that helped me?" She asked "I heard what Julian's group said, but i wanted to confirm"

"Yeah, I did." Said Link "When i heard what they said about you, i just did it"

Yen blushed. She looked at him with a red face. Her nose was rose red and her hair fluttered in the wind.

"T..thank you" She muttered then ran away.

<Why did she run?>

"Not sure" Link scratched his head.

<She was probably repulsed by your face>

"I should learn how to deactivate you"

Link walked in, gave his proof of completion, got his reward and left. Getting some food on the way.

<Did you forget about The Story of Genes?>

Zero suddenly spoke, making Link shudder.

"I'm strong enough for now, I don't need to go through that hellish experience again now" He said.

<You're such a Wuss. You're not even close to being strong enough. You're surrounded by weak people all the time that you started comparing yourself to them. While you wouldn't stand a chance against a real Warrior>

Link took a deep breath, remembering all the pain he would go through whenever he would Level Up that Skill.

"Ok, let's do it tonight and get it over with" He said, taking another bite from his sandwich.
