Link sat thinking about all the new information that Zero had told him.

"Hey, Zero" Link said, frowning.

<Yeah?>

"If the seed requires Souls as food and i receive Exp as a result, then why did i get Exp from that Wolf?" Link sat up

<Which one?>

"The Wolf I got the Beast Soul from, I got Exp and its Beast Soul. How?"

<Oh, i understand what you mean, you're saying if the seed fed on the soul then how did you get a Beast Soul?. That's simple, The Beast Souls of creatures are only an imitation created from Mana>

"Then why don't I lose Mana when I summon it?" Link said as he summoned the Dagger and checked his Stats.

<Beast Souls are a gift from the gods, there is a legend about a human named Altair, he was a warrior from an ancient tribe of humans, they lacked proper knowledge and time to craft weapons and armor which have led many tribes into annihilation. Constant attacks from creatures and the lack of a safe haven have led this man into insanity after watching his family die, he bore hatred towards the gods that orchestrated such a fate. He cursed them day and night, which got the gods attention. They pitied the man and the tribes, so they created the Beast Souls. All the races managed to survive the dark times, create safe zones and slowly expand. They created skills and invented wonders, which have led to our present. The Beast Souls were gifted by the gods, they do not need the users Mana, they are Mana itself.>

"That makes sense, kind of. What happened to the man?" Link asks

<That's all i know of the ancient times, it's a popular story spoken by Mages. Altair is viewed as a hero of some sort, since he was the cause and start of this world's inhabitants advancement.>

The days passed quickly, Link found no chance to hunt so he kept training and sparring with one of the Hunters each time, it helped gain some experience in fights without using his skills.

The day finally came, it's Link's birthday.

The villagers set up a party in the middle of the village, there was all sorts of food and drinks. People danced to the lovely songs sung by Nana and Nina, they were really good too.

Link didn't think that his birthday would be celebrated like this, he stood with Samuel to the side.

Seeing Link's expression Samuel spoke "Don't look all surprised, you're the hero of our village and this is your birthday as well as a goodbye party, Not everyday you send off people to a military academy." He said, patting Link's shoulder.

From the letter they received a few days prior, a time and place have been set for the pick up of the kids, so the party took place in the morning, as in the evening they shall depart.

After all the pleasantries, Link went home. He wanted to have lunch and spend some time with his family before he leaves.

Rao was proud but Link noticed that he was sad to see him go, Anny, Rena and Lisa did not hide anything though, they cried and hugged Link every minute.

He's going to study there for 5 years, which is not a short time. They had lunch, then hung out in the yard for a bit, until Samuel came over.

"Link, it's time, we have to go" Samuel said, his eyes red. He had his fair share of emotional goodbyes with his family as well.

After grabbing his bag with all his clothes, Link and Samuel departed.

On the Letter, it instructed them to wait near the village sign by themselves so that's where they headed.

It was a small sign with their village name on it, it was located a mile away from the village on the side of the dirt road.

After 16 minutes they got there, finding nobody.

The road was empty, with the exception of the rustling of leaves and their footsteps.

"Are we early?" Samuel asked, looking around.

"I'm not sure" Link looked around confused as well.

The letter clearly stated that upon their arrival to the location they would find a Bus waiting for them. None of the villagers knew what a Bus was, since the village was located on the borders and their lack of funds, Information about the outside world rarely reaches them, even merchants would try to sell them what is common information in other towns and cities.

Link recognized the name, but only from his old world, he wasn't sure what they were referring to by Bus in this one.

Without any other option, they stood there waiting.

10 Minutes Later..

<Careful, you're breathing some foreign substance, i'm suppressing it but i can't hold it for long. Run!>

Zero's warning came out of nowhere, Link did not feel any different but he trusted Zero and without a second thought he turned to grab Samuel and run.

As he turned, he saw Samuel lose consciousness and fall. He grabbed him and started running, leaving their bags behind. He didn't care since most of his valuables are in his Inventory.

After running for a bit, he heard someone speak from behind him.

"Not bad kid, you're still energized even after breathing in all of that?" A man in an odd black uniform with some white lines spoke, he had his hands behind his head, it seemed like he was not worried about Link escaping.

"Who are you?" Link asked, summoning his Beast Soul Dagger.

"Why are we having a conversation with the kid, let's get this over with and go" A man appeared behind Link, he seemed annoyed.

"Rogg, don't be so impatient" The other man laughed.

With Samuel under his arm, Link wouldn't be able to 'Blink' out since his skill only works on him. Being surrounded from both sides and seeing them appear out of nowhere, he knew that he won't be able to escape. Link put Samuel down on the ground carefully and took a fighting stance.

*Whistle*

"The kid's feisty" The chatty Man spoke, looking at Link with curiosity.

"Whatever their goal is, i'm not going down without a fight" Link thought to himself as he started running towards the chatty man.

"Haha, come" The man laughed again, he seemed to be having fun.

Link got close to the Man, he swung his dagger towards his neck. The Man laughed again and moved to block the attack, but the next second Link vanished appearing somewhere else.

The chatty man opened his eyes, seeing Link on the other side, behind Rogg.

"Die!" Link muttered as he aimed to stab Rogg's spine.

"I don't have time for this" Rogg muttered under his breath, he moved his arm to his back grabbing the Dagger's blade.

Link froze for a second, there was no blood or any sort of injury, the Dagger stopped in its track, Link tried to pull it but he couldn't even move it.

Realizing he was out of his league, Link canceled the Dagger returning it, then blinking as far as he could. He felt a heavy weight in his heart, leaving Samuel behind, but he had no choice in the matter.

Live to fight another day.

As he appeared a good distance away from the men, he turned to run.

Bang

Suddenly, his vision went all blurry, he saw the ground slowly getting closer and the next thing he knew it was dark. Link passed out.

"The kid's not bad" The chatty man spoke. He was now right next to Link's body.

"Ein, you should have done that from the start" Rogg said, grabbing Samuel's body.

"Come on, were you not curious about the kids Saya picked?" Ein said.

"I guess, she got lucky finding them in such a remote place" Rogg looked around, seeing nothing but woods stretching on both sides.

"I don't know about the other, but this one is a little monster isn't he?" Said Ein, pointing at Link.

"Saya wouldn't choose just anybody.. Enough chit chat, let's get this over with"

Hearing Zero's voice echo in his head, Link slowly regained his consciousness. He opened his eyes, his vision unfocused.

He sat up, looking around as his vision slowly started to clear.

In a ring shaped grass field with trees stacked at the edges, sat Link with countless other kids.

As he looked around, he saw so many others. They were all knocked out all around the field. The place was odd, it did not seem like it was naturally made, the trees that circled them were stacked together with no gaps in between, the grass ring they were in was huge in size.

Slowly, others started waking up as they looked around in confusion.

Link saw some freak out and others shouting, but he saw a few sitting and analyzing the situation just like he was.

One was a blonde girl with a pretty face and fancy clothes, she was looking at the trees and at the others calmly.

Another was a boy with long hair, he wore a leather armor with a bow on his back, he kept looking at the kids around in amusement.

The other two seemed like they knew one another, they sat down looking around and whispering to each other.

"Argh" Link heard something next to him, as he looked over he saw Samuel slowly wake up.

"Samuel, you ok?" Link asked, shaking him a bit.

"I'm a bit dizzy, where are we?" Samuel Asked.

"I'm not sure myself" Link said "We can only wait and see what happens"

An hour passed and all the kids were awake, Link counted them to pass the time and he found that there were around 400 kids.

"Stand up" A voice echoed through the area, it was not loud but everyone seemed to hear it clearly. The trees opened a path where 4 people walked out of, they wore the same robes Saya wore when she came to Toula Village.

2 men and 2 women, they walked forward and stood facing the students.

"This is where you'll be staying for the next 5 years. Welcome to Rechanguard's Military Academy"
