The Story of Genes Level Up!

Link couldn't get what happened out of his head, he planned on going to the library to research what the Heavenly Deer was.

Entering the Town, Link was stopped by somebody, she wore a cute skirt, boots and a fluffy pink shirt, It was Abby.

"Hey again" She said, blocking Link's way.

"Hello, miss Abby" Link couldn't act as he pleased with her, she is a professor and from what he heard from the other students a very famous Craftswoman.

"Do I look like a Miss to you?" She pouted "Anyways, did you kill anymore Creatures? I'll buy both the body and the Core" She smiled, making her face light up.

"No, i did not find any creatures out there, i couldn't even find The Light fruit" Link faked disappointment. He wasn't planning on selling the bodies anyways, he did not know what Abby knows or suspects, but he wasn't going to say anything until he figures out what she wants from him.

"You couldn't find any creatures out there?" Abby looked visibly confused, this forest is called the Hell forest due to the large number of creatures. "He is either lying to me or the creatures are hiding from him for some reason" Abby looked at Link as if she was looking at her favorite food, she wants to know what this student is hiding no matter what.

Seeing her eyes staring at him that way, Link had goosebumps, he quickly said goodbye and left.

"What the f*ck is wrong with her?" Link thought to himself.

<Did you see her confused look when you told her about not finding any creatures?>

"Yeah, so?" Link frowned, he knew something was wrong even if he didn't see her reaction, but he couldn't figure it out.

<I found it odd myself too, from what we were told, Beasts are as common as grass in the place. So i've been thinking..>

"Did you figure something out?" Link asked loudly, people looked at him like he was insane. He blushed and kept walking.

<You know how animals eat each other too right?>

"Yeah?"

"So?" Link hated dramatic pauses like that, he didn't like them in movies and really hated them in real life.

<Predator eats prey, but what about an Apex Predator?>

Link paused for a bit, he completely forgot about that odd technique, it gave no proper description and the fact that a god created it should have given Link some ideas.

<What if they are hiding from you? The Apex Predator?>

"Are they? That Mantis looking creature did not hide and I found a lot of them remember?" Link said.

<Maybe low Intelligence?> Zero paused for a bit <That might explain it, they did not have the intellectual capacity to differentiate between creatures. That Python might be the same too>

"The Python? That thing was so hard to kill, why would creatures of its Level, let alone intelligent hide from me? If they were as strong as it and were smart enough to attack properly I would definitely lose." Link entered his room, unaware that he was whispering to himself the whole way there. People kept staring at him oddly.

<Either way, this is our only theory, so we'll have to go with it until proven wrong. The god of war created The Story of Genes for humanity's weak physique, but i guess that might apply to a lot of aspects. Now you have over 800 Mana, want to Level it up?>

"I don't believe having creatures hide from me is a good thing Zero, maybe we should leave it and not make it worse" Link hated the fact that he found it difficult to hunt, and at the same time did not want to experience that pain again.

<I don't think leaving it will change anything, we can only move forward>

"Fine" Said Link reluctantly.

"Oh sh*t" Link muttered to himself, these messages brought him back to the time he first did this, and the hell he went through.

Link sat there, not feeling anything. The only thing he felt was that on the inside his body felt far warmer than usual.

He sat there waiting, then a look of concern was drawn on his face. That warm feeling was growing hotter and hotter by the second, Link was nervous.

"ARGH!" Link screamed. His body went from feeling warm to burning like he was thrown into a pot.

His veins popped from his skin, they got so huge that they started tearing, blood seeped out of them, covering his body slowly in the color red. Link struggled but he couldn't do anything about the pain.

Slowly, Link turned into a concerning purple color. Even Zero was getting worried, she knew the human body, and that without blood the body's organs couldn't get the oxygen and nutrients they need to survive, they couldn't keep warm and cool off or fight infections, Without enough Blood, they'd weaken and die.

She didn't know what to do, not like she was able to do anything in the first place.

Link couldn't feel anything anymore, he lost all sense of touch or feeling in his body. When he tried to get up he was unable to.

"Ze..fg..gpk" He tried to speak, and only weird noises came out.

Wosh!

Mana ran throughout his body aggressively, from out of nowhere, new blood started circulating his vanes, his injuries healed and his body slowly started to get back its healthy color.

Link started to slowly have feeling again, his body felt rejuvenated, the new blood went into his organs and heart without a problem.

"What's happening?" Link managed to blurt out a question.

<I guess the second Level of that Technique is to change your blood, the new blood inside your body seems to be different, but i don't know what makes it so.>

Link stopped talking, he was not in pain anymore, it was the opposite, he felt comfortable. He closed his eyes and without even realizing it he fell asleep.

Dong!

The alarm rang, waking Link up.

"What? How long was I asleep?" Link asked, he could remember that he went to his room around 4 pm.

<16 hours, how are you feeling?>

"I feel great, it's like I'm in a new body" Link joked, he felt refreshed.

<Great, go take a shower you look disgusting>

Link looked down, seeing himself, his bed and pillow covered in blood.

"By the gods, I'm gonna run out of bed sheets and pillows at some point." Link cleaned up and went to class, he has been making great progress with The Elements class, even though he didn't really need it.

As usual, he sat in the front row with Fei and Tom. Samuel was assigned a different class then him so they mostly meet up at lunch where they ate in the cafeteria together.

Tommy walked in with a large book, it had a leather cover decorated and well maintained.

"Ok class, let's put what you've been learning to the test" He said, opening the book "We'll be having no more classes for the rest of the week, so you'll have all the time you need to learn these 2 spells." He put his hand on a page and something flew out of it, slowly landing on the desks of each student.

"That's the first one, it's a barrier spell called Mana Shield." Tommy repeated the same thing and 2 more papers flew out again. "That's Heal and Air Boost"

"Like i said, you have the rest of the week to learn all 3 of them and they must be performed perfectly when tested, this will effect whether you move on to the next class or repeat and stay with me for another period" Tommy paused a bit and added "If you manage to learn them before the given time, you can come find me here." After finishing what he said, Tommy walked out of the class.

"Is he serious? He wants us to learn 3 spells in 5 days?"

"Nooo, i don't want to fail"

"this is not fair"

Students kept talking and complaining, while Link grabbed the papers and started to leave.

"Link, where are you going?" Fei asked.

"There is no class, I'm going back to my room to start practicing" Link answered, waving the papers in his hand.

"Should we practice together?" Fei asked, he was talented and studied hard for The Element class, he didn't think he'll have difficulty, but he wanted to help his new friends.

"I don't think that would be beneficial to any of us" Tom spoke "We have to do this ourselves, or when we're alone in the future we'll have trouble learning new spells"

"He's right, thanks for the suggestion Fei, i know you don't need help" Link said quickly, what Tom said helped him get out of that situation, so he jumped on it. The moment Link grabbed the Papers, 3 messages appeared. "I'm nailing this Test" He thought to himself.

"Well, i guess i'll see you guys in 5 days" Fei smiled, they said their goodbyes and each went to their rooms.

"I love free things" Link muttered to himself, pressing yes on each message.
