The Second Continent (1)

Time passed and before Link knew it, each of the professors announced their exams.

Tommy's The Elements class had the same type of exam as last time. He gave his students 5 books containing Level 3 spells. He said that if one learns at least 3 of them, they'll pass, but with the lowest possible grade. For the ones that learn 4 of them it'll be average and for the students that learn all 5 they'll get full marks.

Abby with her craftsmanship tests gave her students materials and access to the labs. They each needed to craft certain amounts of basic level Scrolls and Potions.

The Dissection class's professor had two exams. One was a written one where he would ask various questions about how to handle a creature's corpse. Since one wouldn't always know the beast he'll have to cut up. They were taught certain steps that would assist them in the process of dissecting the unknown body. The other test was a task for the students to go and hunt a Level 3 beast, then bring back its materials cleanly cut by them.

The Art of Combat's test was a spar with Bai. He would be able to give a fair score to each student that way.

Last but not least was the Ancient Tongue class. As everyone expected, the exam was written. After that is done, the professor would sit down with each student to converse with them using the Ancient Tongue.

Cheating was not an option. Some previous students tried, but somehow they were found out and expelled from the Academy, so none dared to try anything.

The Academy provided the students with enough time to prepare themselves mentally and physically. They were given 2 weeks where they could come to whatever class they wanted to show their results or take their written exams.

Link quite liked this, as each student would be well prepared and comfortable.

The written exams were all different so sending in a sacrifice first to get the answers wouldn't bear any results. This did not matter to Link though as he only took 3 days to pass all his exams perfectly. He would have been able to finish them all in a day if not for the suspicions that would bring him.

He had the system to thank for his achievement.

A day later, an agent came to Link's room, offering to take him back to the Kingdom. The year ended and Link finished his exams so he did not have a need to stay there.

"Will i be allowed to go to the second continent?" Link asked.

"Why would you wish to go there?" The agent asked. He did not care either way, but he needed to ask this.

"I have some unfinished business there" Link continued. "If it is possible, I would like to receive the emblem we were given for our first year test. After i am done there i don't want to stay longer than needed"

"I'll report this then" The agent spoke before vanishing.

It did not take long for a response to arrive. It was only a day after speaking with the agent.

Link's request was approved and he was given what he needed before he was teleported out.

In a dead and deserted area, the ground was open, revealing the deep darkness underneath. It looked like the gate to hell while silence filled the place.

Wosh!

Suddenly, a few meters in the air, Link appeared right on top of the hell gate. With but only a look, Link's heart sank, seeing an unending fall awaiting him.

Before he completely fell in and lost sight of the ground. Link Blinked out and appeared a few meters away from the hole, falling and breathing quickly with panic. "Where the hell am i?" He said, looking left and right. "Did they really just teleport me randomly? Why didn't they just send me to a city, i'm not in the middle of a test for fuck sake!"

Standing up and brushing the sand from his armor, Link opened his Map Tab and wished he was near one of his unlocked map sections he bought a while ago.

Every map he bought in the second continent the system would absorb and an area would appear in the dark map. It was like a puzzle where Link was collecting the pieces.

The closest unlocked map area was too far. Link cursed under his breath and bent his knees.

"Let's see where I should start heading" He muttered.

Boom!

With a loud and ground shaking jump. Link was touching the clouds as he looked all around him before falling back down.

The place looked like a desert. There were mountains and hills, but they all looked like they were made of sand. While in the air, Link saw a small clearing not too far away.

Unlike the rest, it looked less Sandy. That was what Link thought at least as he headed that way.

"I really got lucky with my first teleport back in my first year" Link spoke to himself.

2 hours later, the spot started to appear in Link's vision. He sped up a little as the sand around him flew everywhere with each forceful step. His speed showed how efficient a 31 Agility really was.

The sand started to slowly lessen. Turning into a hard dead ground. Link was pleased as he finally had a firm footing unlike the unstable sand. Although Link was finally here, he did not stop and kept running forward.

"I might manage to leave the desert if I keep at it" Link thought.

Air gently slipped past his face as he ran. His heart felt calm as he traveled in this empty clearing, going faster and faster.

"What is that?" Link muttered, frowning.

In front of him. What was supposed to be the end of the desert, was the sight of dead trees and ruined land. Link's frown deepened as he saw the bodies of people everywhere. They all were not fresh, but still had some features. "What happened?" Link questioned as he kept running. There was no going back now. There was nowhere to go back to but endless desert, so his only option was to keep going. As he passed by, Link kept looking at the dead bodies and eyeing their armor. It looked like what soldiers would wear as they all looked the same. Some armors were torn to shreds while others were untouched.

"Is this a battlefield?" Link questioned. The idea was logical but he quickly shook it away. "There's only one side" Link said. He couldn't see any different armor than the one he saw. "No matter how strong the other side was, it's impossible to not have any casualties at all" Link thought.

On the way, some undead and low Level Ghouls were here and there. Link took care of them quickly as he kept going. "This place is starting to attract these things" He said. While he ran, some sort of structure started appearing. It looked like a town. The walls were destroyed and the gate broken. The houses and buildings inside were torn to pieces as light smoke rose. "Was it an attack?" Link stopped, looking around.

Entering the town with caution Link started exploring. His goal was to find something useful. He did not need to look physically and used his Psight. "They made sure no one was alive, didn't they..." Link muttered, seeing only corpses around. The bodies of kids, women and men were thrown around. The place was empty and without a sign of any valuables as well. All that was there were some undead and Ghouls. Not even the noble houses had anything.

Link found the whole situation odd. There were no footsteps other than some that belonged to the dead people. There was no blood and no wounds although the armor or clothing was torn and broken.

"Did ghosts attack? Why is there no evidence of anything at all?" Link felt uneasy as he turned and started leaving.

Like all stereotypes, Link worried when he would start to leave someone would call out from underneath the rubble, or a powerful creature would appear, but nothing happened at all.

"Whatever, this is none of my business" Link muttered and continued running.
