The Bandit Hunt (4)

Mike's group was running through the forest, they were chasing after a boy. This was Link's clone, leading them somewhere with a wolf running beside him.

The reason Link sent Zasho to this particular group was due to a hunch he had. Mike looked like a mess but he seemed to have the soldiers complete obedience. His whole aura yelled warrior as his frame itself was intimidating. Link had his suspicions and he was right, as Mike was the one that trained all the guards with Arlo being one of his students as well.

"Stop running kid" Mike yelled "You can come with us if you wish to live longer, our lord will properly punish you for what you've done"

The clone is incapable of proper conversation as he ignored his words and kept running through the forest, dodging trees like a shadow. Until he finally stopped somewhere. It was a clearing with no trees and no grass. Just a patch of dirt, it looked like there was a fire here that turned everything into ash.

"You finally give up?" Mike asked, looking around. He had a bad feeling about this place, which made him tense. He had his guard up, while signalling for his companions to do the same.

The clone stood there, looking at them, while 30 feet behind him between the numerous trees, Link was hiding behind one, looking at them. "I should kill that guy quickly, he looks like a problem" He said, thinking of something to do.

An idea came to him a bit later. He muttered something, and the clone started running towards the group. Jumping in the air with his fist ready to punch.

"What is this kid doing?" Mike thought. He took a step back and crouched, dodging the disappointing attack. He pulled his arm to his side and a small knife appeared in his hand. With a lightning fast swing, Link was cut in half.

The guards behind started to smile, but at the same time after being killed, Link's body started glowing red.

Boom!

Mike was flung back, slamming into his guards. Before any of them could get their bearings back, an arrow flew in, killing one of the guards on the spot. Then the next second his body started glowing red.

Boom!

The power in each explosion was devastating, and with the bone fragments and so on going everywhere, even if one was unharmed by the explosion itself, they would get stabbed by several sharp small bones.

Mike didn't understand what was happening, as with each guard's death his body would glow red and explode, killing all the rest that survived the previous explosion. It was like a chain reaction, which Mike was trying his hardest to survive. "This is hell!" Mike muttered. Seeing blood, gore and bones everywhere. His team was wiped and slaughtered without being able to do anything. Each was a proud soldier from their City, but they were being killed off like cattle.

After some time, everything finally settled. Mike barely got out of there alive, his body was full of injuries with blood covering his armor. "Where are you?!" He yelled seemingly to nothing.

"Yo!" Link Blinked next to him. "You survived that? Wow" Link smiled.

"Die!" Mike yelled. He pulled his sword and swung.

Wosh!

Link vanished from his spot, appearing again on the other side.

<Stop playing around, you don't have much Mana left, that spell wasted too much>

"Yeah, ok" Link said, swinging his Dagger and beheading Mike. "I'm winning these fights way too easily. Did they prepare a trap for me?" Link said, walking away.

<No, you're just a lot stronger than last time. They're only from a small City in a small Kingdom. Don't get too arrogant>

"I know, i know" Link took a deep breath and drank 2 more Mana Potions. Restoring most of his Mana.

"Recollection" Link muttered, vanishing from his spot.

Feo stopped attacking by now, just standing there looking at the boy in front of her. He had been dodging since the beginning and none of her arrows seemed to land as the clone dodged each and every one. So she stopped, trying to think of something.

"What is happening?" She thought "Why did none of the other squads arrive yet? Even after all that noise"

The sky was getting darker and darker. The moon and the stars were the only light that shone on the land. The forest was eerily quiet with the only noises breaking the silence being the rustling of leaves and grass.

Feo felt that something was wrong. Before leaving, her and the other squads separated to cover more grounds, but they would have ran over if they heard anything out of place. "Don't tell me" Feo muttered under her breath, looking at the boy in front of her. She remembered the day they fought against him. How after killing him, or what seemed to be him. The body blew up and there the real Link appeared on top of the tree, looking down at them with a smile. "You're not real, are you?" She asked, looking at the clone.

"Ding, ding, ding!!" a voice came from their left. The squad looked over, seeing the same boy standing there. "You win!" Link said while pointing at her.

Feo froze for a bit, then looked at the clone in front of her. Now no longer standing there, as the only thing she could see was a thick cloud of black smoke flying away.

"The others. Are they dead?" Feo asked, looking back at Link. The soldiers around her looked at her in shock. They couldn't comprehend what was happening, but it seemed that some of them did, as they readied their weapons.

"Yep" Link answered, the playful look on his face was gone. He looked at the squad in front of him. "So can you just make it easy for me and don't move for a second? I'll make it quick" Link said.

Feo started to breathe faster, as her heart seemed to sink a little. "Am i really going to die?" She thought to herself. She knew well that she was the weakest of the bunch. She couldn't help but think that 'If the others lost, than i have no chance'

"For the lord" One of the soldiers screamed, as he started running towards Link with impressive speed. He seemed to be using Mana to boost his speed, holding a medium sized axe over his head.

"Your lord is the person you're dying for? Not honor or anything fancy like that?" Link asked, laughing a little "Your life must've been so dull"

Wosh!

No one saw what happened. They looked at Link, as he now was standing behind the soldier, his back facing him, still staring straight at them.

The soldier fell to the ground, missing one crucial body part. His head.

Whatever ounce of courage and confidence the soldiers might have had left was now completely gone. If not for their harsh training they would have all started running away by now.

"Why are you doing this?" Feo asked, looking at Link.

"Me?" Link asked, confused "You claim to be bandits as you rob and kill whom you please. You attacked me with the intent to kill once, but failed, miserably i'd say" Link shrugged "The whole thing you guys got going on here is a bit much. I looked into the lord you people serve, and I'm not impressed. And this guy seriously yelled out 'for the lord' like he was a messenger from god or something. Wow" Link shook his head. "Just die with dignity. I know you just served the wrong person but that doesn't erase what you've all done"

Link vanished from his spot, and it was as if the grim reaper jumped between them.

Blood, screams and limbs flew everywhere. Link was fast, and the whole thing ended in mere seconds, but for Feo it felt like an eternity. As she looked around, the soldiers that were with her a few seconds ago were now slaughtered on the ground. She looked at Link for a bit then muttered something "You're not a good guy either" She said, before taking her knife out and attempting to cut her throat.

Wosh!

Link moved quickly, swiping his Dagger and beheading her before she could end her own life. "I know i'm not a good guy. Never claimed i was. The only difference between us is that i'm stronger" Link took a deep breath "Thank you for the exp"

"Lilia, do you see them?" San asked, looking around.

"No sir. I'm focusing on the barrier" Lilia answered, not looking at him.

"Take this thing down, he won't be able to focus on us when he's being hunted down by them" San waved his hand.

"I don't think that's the best choice sir, he's strong, he might do something" Lilia said "I can keep the barrier up for longer"

"You think i'm weak? Needing a fucking woman's protection? He's probably dead by now, stop going against my orders and do as i say" San yelled, pushing Lilia, making her lose focus.

The barrier was no longer being delivered anymore Mana. It slowly but steadily started to thin out, after a bit it popped like a bubble. "This arrogant idi.." Lilia thought to herself, but before she could finish that thought, an arrow tore through the air, aimed at San.

The speed and power were monstrous, as it hit him, then destroyed everything else in its path. The house had a giant hole in it, with blood everywhere.

Lilia was knocked down by the force of the hit, and she slowly opened her eyes, seeing the scene in front of her. "What the fuck!" She muttered.

The house was their base, so Lilia enforced it with Mana and runes. Making it as strong as a fortress. But the scene in front of her was terrifying.

"Oops!" Link said, standing next to her. "I thought the barrier was still up so i put too much Mana into the shot" Link sighed "I needed his head as proof, but i guess you'll do" He smiled towards Lilia, as she looked at him in horror.
