Chapter 35

Just after the incident. I saw the man whose items were stolen approach us. To my surprise this was no man, but a god.

"Thank you for helping me young lady" the god said to Ardee. I didn't know why but something felt off about this god, so I took a cautious stance. The god kept stealing sneaky glances at me as if he knew me.

No he knew me but not from rumours. It felt as though he even knew things that I did not know myself.

I just remained cautious and let the conversation flow 'Maybe I was being paranoid again. It has been happening a lot these days' I thought as the god and Ardee conversed.

"No problem" Ardee replied. She then returned the stolen items to the god.

"Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Eren". He said. His name felt familiar yet not.

I didn't remember any pantheon with the god Eren.

'Could he be lying or was that a his nickname or Alias for a name starting with E' I thought trying to remember.

"Hmm, do you know me" he said. He then turned his eyes to me as I was still trying to remember, if I knew any god named Eren.

"No but I just felt you knew me" I said in counter.

"Hahaha, who hasn't heard of the black hunter. A dragon kin in Orario" he said in reply. We then stared at each other for a while.

I stared at him with hostility, everything about him screamed fake but I couldn't tell what?, while he stared at me with curiosity.

"Ahem, I am Ardee from the Ganesha familia" Ardee said, which made us break eye contact. This made the others introduce themselves too.

"Ah, to think that I would be helped by two great familia's that try to represent justice, and you" the god said with a smirk towards my direction. Though annoying as it was, I couldn't do anything about it.

"Attempt??, but we represent justice" Ryuu said. She looked confused as to why the god would use the word attempt. Weren't what they did representing justice.

"I understand by looking at your expression that you are confused. The justice that you claim to represent is just your personal justice" the god said in reply. The conversation went on for a while as we argued about our opinions on the topic justice.

The conversation was cut because a cloaked figure approached us. I didn't know why but the cloaked figure had an aura that resonated with mine.

The aura was similar but different, it was weaker than mine to the point that it almost felt fake but threatening regardless.

I didn't know what to do and took a defensive stance. The cloaked figure then walked toward the god Eren and whispered something in his ears.

Despite my sharp and enhanced senses, I couldn't hear a thing. This was abnormal, why weren't the others noticing this.

The god then excused himself before leaving with the cloaked figure towards an alley. I heard some words that were spoken by the cloaked figure as they disappeared into the alley. The word weren't heard completely but I did hear one word.

"Abomination" the word could mean a lot of things and I needed answers, so I ran to the alley that they entered. To my surprise there was no trace of them.

"Are you ok Draco" Alise asked in concern.

"Yea, I am fine but did you guys not feel or hear anything strange from that god and the mysterious cloaked person?" I asked just to make sure that I was being paranoid for a reason.

"Not really" they replied.

More questions filled my mind, but I couldn't dwell on it for long as the faces of concerned people surrounded me. 'I should tell Bahamut about this' I thought as we were to resume the patrol.

"Ah, I forgot to tell you something Ryuu" Ardee said as she seemed to have remembered something. She then proceeded to tell Ryuu about a branch of the sacred tree from her home forest was being sold in Orario, but they had been unable to locate it.

" I don't care" Ryuu said. Well it wasn't hard to see that she was lying but that's just the way Ryuu was.

"I will definitely get it back for you" Ardee said in confidence, despite forgetting such important information earlier. I didn't fail to see Ryuu smile at Ardee's proclamation. Ardee then left. We were about to resume our patrol when Lyra arrived.

Lyra was a pallum adventurer in the Astraea familia. She had medium length pink hair and like all pallums, she had an endearing and lovable look in contrast to her personality which was rough, blunt and unreserved.

"Alise, Draco, we've just received info from Finn" she said in a hurry.

"What happened" I asked.

"The 18th floor is under attack by evilus, we were requested to assist in repelling them" she said in reply.

"Let's hurry back to the manor to pick up the others" Alise responded quickly but I had to return home quickly too.

"I will return to my familia manor too, I have to keep my familia members out of the dungeon for a while" I said to which Alise nodded in agreement.

"I will meet with you guys at the entrance of the dungeon" I said as we left in a hurry to our respective destinations.

A few minutes later, I was home. I quickly called everyone to gather and gave them instructions before putting some potions in my waist bag. I hurried to the dungeon entrance and met up with the Astraea familia.

"Draco, you will come with our group" said Alise as she had divided us into two teams. We then begun our dive. 'Tsk damn Finn, this was probably his plan' I thought as I descended the dungeon depths.

In the Loki familia home, Finn, Riveria and Gareth were discussing something. Despite all the information that they had gathered, they were still unable to figure out what the evilus had planned.

While discussing Loki barged into the room.

"Evilus are attacking the 18th floor" she said.

"Really, Finn shouldn't we go and deal with them??" Riveria asked.

"Don't worry, I have already informed the Astraea familia about it" he replied.

Meanwhile on the 18th floor. Vito was attacking a group of adventurers before Draco, Alise, Kaguya and Lyra arrived to stop him. Vito was a high ranking evilus.

He had short red hair and eyes of the same colour which he usually kept closed. On the surface Vito appeared to be a kind and casual person but his true personality says otherwise.

He was sadistic and loved relishing in the anguish displayed by people before he murdered.

When we arrived at the scene on the 18th floor, we were greeted with a horrific sight. Chaos and bloodshed engulfed the area, as terrified victims fled for their lives amidst the Vicious assault by the malevolent force called Evilus.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, we immediately sprang into action, fighting back against the evilus with all our might while saving anyone that could be saved.

Amidst the chaos and carnage one particular enemy stood out. He had red hair and eyes, wearing a black top with a gold trim and an overcoat of the same design.

The evilus seemed to be receiving instructions from him so we determined him to be the leader of this group of evilus.

The man with red hair was currently stepping on the throat of a female adventurer while smiling. Watching her flail around in despair beneath his feet. Her limbs had been cut off as if she had been dissected.

This scene enraged the girls. Alise, Kaguya and Lyra proceeded to attack the man while I stopped the small fries from interfering. I was also looking for an opportunity to land a sneak attack.

*Crunch*

The man crush the throat of the female adventurer that he was stepping on before engaging in battle with Alise, Kaguya and Lyra.

Her body lay lifeless after struggling to breathe as the man watch it in glee. His actions further enraged them as they battled with everything that they could muster.

The girls engaged him in combat for a while and still couldn't gain an edge in battle. Seeing this, I wasn't sure if I could even do anything against him. The man with red hair was probably a level 4 and a high one at that to be able to handle the three of them like that.

"Hahaha, yes this is it. Much better than the garbage that I have been killing for a while now" the man said in an excited tone.

The battle didn't seem to be progressing well but I finally found an opportunity to attack him. Summoning my grimoire, I drew an earth and wind rune.

Casting the spells haste, stone skin and toughness. I noticed that he was open to attack after every clash because of the rebound. That was my chance.

I waited a bit and the opportunity soon came. Covering my full body in scales and and positioning my claws in a piercing motion. I tried to use wind to eliminate any resistance and conceal my presence to which worked partially.

I used full body scales and some defensive spells, In case my attacked failed, I would have enough defence to survive a counter.

My claws ready to strike, I lunged towards the man's heart during his scuffle with the girls. I believed that I would be victorious.

"Nani" I muttered.

My attack was impeded by a cloaked figure who halted my attack with a single finger, no a single claw like mine. Shock, confusion, rage and fear filled me at the same time.

The mysterious stranger, no I had met this person earlier today. This person was skilled and strong as my instincts screamed death if I should continue my assault. Worse of all a question came to mind.

'Was I truly the last dragon kin'.
