Lexia walked into the building to see the situation handled neatly, giving a nod in approval she made a note of Xelfia and Xilo's ability. Taking over, Lexia grabbed the two people who passed out while giving the man, Xilo was holding a side glance. Waving her hand at Xilo, he tossed the man's body towards her. Catching it, she took a couple coins out of their pockets and her own. "For their troubles." Tossing it to the store keepers, Lexia left the building. "They don't seem to hurt either." The men had just been disabled not permanently injured or killed, which was good for her, since she had hired them.
"Good job you two, I would have liked to see everyone in action but oh well. What happens to be your name girl?"
Pointing at the red head in her vision Lexia was curious.
"Xelfia, why?"
"No real reason to be concerned about, though I did notice the scent of a beast on you. I'm assuming you're an Astral Beast?"
Xelfia could feel her guard going up as she looked towards Xilo.
"She is, any problem with that?"
"With me, no. Just try and keep that information hidden from other people. The people here don't take Beast kind very well, especially with the looming war over our heads. Alright, that little test is over. For now I want to head to the City that Katrin destroyed. You will all be helping rebuild it for starters. It's the least you can do after causing that mess. After that we can talk about other things. I'd like to get to know you all more."
Lexia knew she smelt the scent of an Astral Beast from Xelfia however there was something else as well. She couldn't quite put her finger on it just yet. "She sent an interesting bunch." Her own daughter and her weird boyfriend. An Astral Beast and a couple of criminals. She met Vandor and Yulrin before in her few visits. It was good to see that they were doing well. Standing out on the streets Lexia fired a signal into the air. One second a figure hidden in shadows appeared next to her. Handing him the bodies she told them to send them back to the Castle and grab them a ride while they were at it. Without having to wait too long a couple of beasts came with a fancy carriage a few minutes later.
"Come on in, it's not to far away so hopefully you're okay with a bit more travelling."
The City that was destroyed was only a half an hour away from the Capital. Xilo's group took a seat inside with a bit of awkward silence. "The place Katrin destroyed." Xilo could never forget the images he saw that day. Buildings had collapsed everywhere after that massive explosion. "I know most people got evacuated but..." Xilo didn't want to think about how many deaths Katrin had caused. "Thankfully we can help." He hadn't ever cleaned up broken buildings before so it was worth the experience. "Who knows, maybe I'll learn something." With that thought in mind the ride passed on in silence until they eventually arrived.
"We are here, Over there are the remains of the city."
Looking out the window, Xilo saw a lot of people sitting against the walls of the City. "Homeless." Even if there was room in the Capital not everyone could go there. "...." Trying not to stare too much, Xilo saw all the buildings piled on top of each other. The walls had cracked everywhere showing plenty of the City they were meant to protect. As they got closer a few soldiers came up to them but once they saw Lexia they were let on through. She mentioned how ever since the attack the only thing she was doing every day was staying in this City and helping out. That was her current number one priority, everyone and everything else was second.
"Too many people lost their homes and the Country took a hard hit. My husband isn't doing anything about it so I needed to do something. Even if it breaks me I'll put this City back together piece by piece, if that's what it takes. Seeing all this suffering...I can't just not do a thing. With how much work is ahead of us though I'm afraid it'll take a couple years to repair if we even have that kind of time. It's hard to say."
Xilo couldn't think of anything to say to Lexia, she was working hard with such a large burden on her shoulders. "Even though it's not her fault." Regardless of the reason she as the Queen of the Country is out here herself doing her best. "Maybe it's for show though." A sliver of doubt slipped into Xilo's mind that tried to think she was faking it before instantly shaking it away. "This isn't an act." Slapping himself on the cheeks, Xilo knew better than to think like that. With his sudden slap alerting everyone around him Xilo jumped out of the carriage and onto the City's ruined streets. Taking in all the air and sights he felt the ground underneath his feet.
"Well, we won't be here for a long time but maybe we can make fixing this place easier while we are here."
"That's the plan, boy."
Smiling as she watched Xilo's enthusiasm, Lexia got out herself. The area they were currently in had been mostly cleared up so people could actually enter the City. The more deeper they got the worse things would get as well. Lexia planned to have Xilo's group join everyone else working on fixing that. There weren't many people willing to volunteer for this kind of job so Lexia had hired a lot of the homeless people that stuck around. In return for their help she would give them permission to stay and when this place eventually was rebuilt an actual home. As long as they put the work in they would also be fed so it was a pretty good deal for them and a second chance for some. It was all a matter of how they wanted to proceed.
"A group is already up ahead, you should go talk with them and see what they want you to do. I'll also be helping out in the area so no slacking off or any funny business. I'll always be watching."
"Got it."
Their voices rung out as they headed down the streets towards where Lexia pointed.
"We'll see how long that positivity lasts, I'll give it a couple days at best. This place is just too much of a mess.."
Regardless of the struggle Lexia had to keep on going, just to prove him wrong.
"That bastard gave up on this place instantly and this Country, I won't do the same. I promise that."
