"Equipment Showcase Competition?"
"Yes, it's an event that the Support Course is about to hold."
The "Equipment Showcase Competition" in the Support Course is like a midterm exam, only open to students within the Support Course itself, so most other classes don't know about it.
In Hero Course Class A, after their visit to the Support Course yesterday, Takeyama Urei and Ochako finally understood why Midoriya Izuku had been absent from the hero course lately.
"This sounds really interesting, but why didn't the school tell us anything about it?"
Ashido Mina, who was chatting with Takeyama Urei, was always curious about fun things like this.
"It's an event organized by the Support Department, so it's not an official school activity."
"I see..."
Ashido Mina thought for a moment, then her antenna-like hair straightened up. She raised her hand and waved it around to get everyone's attention, then shouted loudly:
"The Support Department is having an event. Does anyone want to go check it out?"
As soon as she said this, the other classmates started whispering among themselves. Mina's suggestion was definitely appealing, and the more lively ones quickly showed their support.
"I want to go, I want to go! The Support Department must have tons of cool stuff!"
Kaminari Denki immediately agreed, as he loved fun events like this.
"I want to go too… Support Department girls… (drool)!"
Of course, Mineta Minoru's response was laced with his usual pervy thoughts.
"An event by the Support Department, huh? It could be a good chance to get to know students from other classes."
Iida Tenya, the serious class representative, was interested as well. Plus, he hadn't forgotten how the Support Department had messed with him during the sports festival.
After Mina's excitement, a lot of the class's livelier students agreed to check out the Support Department's event. Activities from other classes had definitely caught their attention, though a few in Class A were not interested in going.
"What's so great about something from another class? Not interested! I'm not going!"
Bakugo Katsuki, with a scowl on his face, had just washed out his hair to go back to his spiky style. His recent experience with the hero internship still annoyed him.
"I'm not that interested either… You guys go ahead."
Todoroki Shoto, focused on his book, didn't feel up for the crowd either.
Seeing the two hardest-to-please guys in class say they weren't interested, Mina grinned slyly. Bakugo and Todoroki might seem tough to persuade, but they were actually pretty easy.
"Come on… Midoriya has some special new gear to show off this time. Aren't you guys a little curious?"
As soon as she finished, Bakugo and Todoroki both stood up. They glanced at each other in surprise and quickly tried to explain:
"I just want to see what kind of new weapon that Deku has. I need to know what my opponent's up to."
"Same here… I lost to Midoriya at the sports festival, so I can't take him lightly…"
While Todoroki and Bakugo explained themselves, Mina made a triumphant gesture behind their backs. Getting these two to come along was too easy.
With Bakugo and Todoroki now on board, the rest of the class joined in too. No one wanted to be left behind from the group.
When Midoriya Izuku arrived in Class A, everyone blocked him, which instantly startled him, leaving him unsure of what to do.
"Midoriya, please help us out!"
With a mischievous smile, Mina knew she couldn't just go on her own. By getting the whole class excited and then asking Midoriya Izuku, success was guaranteed.
With everyone in Class A staring at him, Midoriya could only agree to join the Support Department's event. After all, it wasn't really a big deal.
—————————— Time Skip ——————————
Time flew by, and soon it was time for the Support Department's planned event. The venue was the equipment testing area, and this event was meant to showcase new equipment.
"Wow… there's so many people here?"
Uraraka Ochako gasped. Although Class A had all shown up, they hadn't expected the crowd inside the venue to be this big. It was way more than just the Support Department students!
"Because this isn't just a first-year support event—it's for all three grades."
"Aizawa-sensei?!"
Class 1-A students were surprised to see their homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta, here at the venue with them. They hadn't expected him at all.
"Just so you know, Aizawa-sensei, this isn't class time!"
Ashido Mina, crossing her arms in a "no" gesture, was really afraid that their deadpan teacher was here to drag them back to class.
"Don't worry. I'm here for the support department's event too."
"Wait, Aizawa-sensei is here for the 'Equipment and Gadget Showcase'?"
Takeyama Urei, standing behind Ashido, was very surprised. Their homeroom teacher was known for his no-nonsense attitude—he wouldn't usually join events, let alone seek the spotlight. He even avoided interviews with the media whenever possible.
"This year, I'm one of the evaluators for the support department, along with 'Power Loader.' I'm also here to see if there's any gear I could use."
With his usual expressionless face, Aizawa Shouta explained. As mentioned earlier, this support department tradition was recognized by the school, and every year, the school assigned two teachers as evaluators to help maintain order.
As for Aizawa Shouta's abilities, his Quirk, "Erasure," lets him cancel out his opponent's Quirk, which he combines with close-range combat to subdue them. His weapon of choice is the scarf around his neck, woven from "maneuverable metal."
After his rough experience at the USJ training ground, Aizawa had taken note of the useful gadgets Midoriya Izuku used. They were practical and easy to carry. Now that he was an evaluator, Aizawa figured he'd also see if there were any tools suitable for him.
"Hey, you all came too?"
"Mirio-senpai?!"
While the Class 1-A students and their homeroom teacher were talking, another person entered the venue, calling out to them. Iida Tenya immediately recognized who it was.
It was Togata Mirio, and he wasn't alone—Hado Nejire and Tamaki Amajiki were with him. They had come as a group to check out the event.
"Mirio, you're interested in gadgets too?"
Aizawa Shouta asked curiously. He knew Togata Mirio well, along with Hado Nejire and Tamaki Amajiki—collectively known as the "Big Three" of U.A., the three strongest students in the school. It was rare to see all three of them together here.
"I'm a little interested… hahaha~~"
Togata Mirio scratched the back of his head awkwardly. He hadn't come here uninvited for no reason—he still remembered the future Sir Nighteye had predicted for him.
He needed to keep an eye on Midoriya Izuku to prevent him from heading down a dark path… and Mirio felt this event was worth watching, so he had dragged his two partners along.
"Mirio-senpai? Aizawa-sensei? Everyone's here?"
Midoriya Izuku, carrying a pile of stuff, was surprised to see all these people gathered at the venue. They were here to attend the support department's event.
