13. Visiting the palace
After Zhang Zuo left, although Lili wanted to start moving, she was forced to remain in bed as her body was still sore.
With nothing to do, she started planning her next move. Although she already met Lu Wei, it doesn't mean that she should have him next. Meeting him by chance was difficult since she didn't know where to find him. What if he doesn't visit Haochi when she goes there to find him? she will just be wasting her time then.
So, she decided that she should shift her focus to another target who's easier to find. The 3rd prince, Feng Jun, was just in the palace. She was also looking forward to seeing him. She has seen him in novel Lili's memories, and as the main male lead, she could say that he was more than worthy.

The next day, Lili started wearing the tang dynasty costume with a tube and shawl. She decided to visit the palace with the excuse that she's seeing her auntie, the queen.
She looked at herself in the mirror and gave herself a smile. 'Lili ah! When that Feng Jun see you later, I'm sure he will fall for your beauty. I mean, you have always been very beautiful, but with my make-up ability and better seductive skills, he won't be able to escape your clutches.'
After a few minutes, Lihua came in to inform her that the carriage is ready.
On the way to the palace, she recalled that in the novel, Feng Jun liked to sit by the Wanshang Gazebo by himself and play the guqin. Not that he's a real melancholic idiot, it's just the image that he wanted to project, but at the back of his mind, he's planning how to take over the throne.
Lili doesn't really care if he's a two-faced person who wants to overthrow her cousin, the crown prince. Truth was that her cousin was incompetent and her auntie a bit too power hungry so having the 3rd prince as the new king was not so bad. Plus, he's the main protagonist of the novel written by the author, so who cares? Her mission was to find Samael and have him make love to her, not save her family or what not.
Anyway, by then, her mission should be over. The novel ends when he becomes the king and marry the FL. Now, come to think of it, perhaps she should try that approach. Maybe, she should try to vie for that position and become the FL herself. Like, it's the best way to go to ensure that the 4 men would love her and make her mission a success.
She grinned. Ah, she now has a plan on how to do that.

When they arrived in the palace, she went to visit her auntie, the queen, first as planned. She began asking her how she was in the Marquess' household, and she enthusiastically told her how everyone was kind to her and treated her well.
Then, the queen asked her how her relationship with Zhang Zuo was. She needed to know if this niece of her can still be useful.
Lili smiled and proudly showed her upper arm where the red mark that looked like a mole was already missing.
The queen nodded her head satisfied. She gave her some jewelry as a gift for a job well done.

After Lili talked with her auntie, she was now free to roam around the palace. She was a princess, and she frequently visited, so all the palace maids and the Eunuchs know her, or at least recognizes her face, so no one stopped her.
Based on Lili's memory, the Wanshang gazebo was in one of the gardens which was rarely visited. Well, good for her, when she meets Feng Jun, no one should be spying at them, except for his own spies/ guards that is.
When she reached the clearing, she finally saw the gazebo, and true to her expectations, she saw Feng Jun there playing the guqin.
Briefly, she wondered, do these 2D characters do what the novel described them to do everyday until they have the FL come in and they start doing something else?
She shook her head. Maybe not, maybe they were actually living a life out of the monotony described in the novel. Oh well, whatever. She just wants to do her mission, like literally.
She walked nearer the gazebo and she was sure that by now, Feng Jun must have realized that she was there. Like, this was an overpowered male in a novel, what can he not do?
He did not stop playing and she did not stop approaching. Finally, she was near enough so that she can see him clearly.
Again, the novel and the memories of novel Lili did him no justice. If she thought Zhang Zuo and Lu Wei were already ML material, Feng Jun was a step above them. He was otherworldly.
His skin was almost luminous, his eyes dewy, his lips thin and red, his nose thin and high, he was the embodiment of perfection. Suddenly, she felt silly for feeling proud of her looks as Lili.
If she were to bet, Feng Jun should be Samael. He's like a real angel. She shook her head, or maybe not. For all she knows, he's just like that because of his specs as the main ML.
Doesn't matter. Whether or not he's Samael, she will do him, oh, she meant, her mission. Ugh. Same. Haha!
