Introspection at Priya’s place

Chapter 3: Introspection at Priya's place

"Well, this is strictly confidential at the moment, but Laura has been offered an opportunity to appear in a European movie as a model. She can also act in it if she wants to, but you need to find out whether it will be a good decision for her to make.

Will there be repercussions or only good results if she accepted the offer? That's what you should find out," Carminda stated.

"Uhmm, I guess that you already know the answer to that with your advanced skills, though?" Jacqueline asked.

"Frankly, I actually don't know. I might find the answer at some point, but you can find it even faster than I can. It all depends on who's meant to know. Maybe I don't find out at all," Carminda responded in a matter of fact kind of tone.

"I suppose you're so used to this that it doesn't really matter," Jacqueline responded in a small tone of voice.

"Well, let me tell you that this kind of thing never becomes boring because it always involves serious issues which are also interesting at the same time.

Sometimes it's a life and death issue," Carminda pointed out in a serious tone.

"That sounds frightening," Jacqueline responded with a shudder.

"So, will their decisions depend on what I tell them to do?" she asked with a worried frown on her brow.

"No, their future depends only on what you see, not what you think," Carminda responded.

"That sounds better. I will just tell them what I saw in a dream or a vision and then they can decide what they want to do with that information?"

"Definitely. Just like that, more or less. You will find out exactly how to do it with practice," Carminda responded in a frank tone of voice.

"So then, I will just think about this and leave it in the hands of the one who gives me a revelation?" Jacqueline asked in a concerned tone.

"If you want to see it as some entity that's working through you, then that's fine. I prefer to see it as my inner eyes revealing hidden truths to me."

At that moment, a servant arrived with a tray of snacks and Adam followed closely on her heel.

"I guess that I will find a way to interpret what I see," Jacqueline responded.

"As long as you focus on being helpful," Carminda remarked.

"Yes, I guess that's a reward on its own," Jacqueline responded.

"Well then, as long as you're willing to actually explore this side of yourself," Carminda remarked in a lighter tone of voice.

"I definitely will do as much exploring as I have the guts for," Jacqueline responded.

"You go for it then, girl," Carminda responded in a lighter tone of voice.

"I will, thanks for your call. I will look into this and get back to you as soon as necessary," Jacqueline remarked in a resigned tone of voice.

"Yes, just relax and whatever you need to see will come straight to you," Carminda responded.

"Well, it's back to the party then for me. Goodbye," Jacqueline responded. She had to make Carminda understand that she was not on her own anymore. She had company.

"What was that all about?" Adam asked with raised brows.

"It was Carminda. She wants to know whether I am going to explore my sixth sense further until I can help people with my skills," Jacqueline responded as she helped herself to some snacks.

"I'm not supposed to let Adam find out about Laura's new opportunity. I better be in control of myself and keep this secret while I open myself up to supernatural guidance," she told herself.

"If you look at it as a way of helping people you will get started very quickly and spontaneously. You will soon have so many fans that you won't know what to do with all the attention and demands," Adam remarked as he stared at the floor, deep in thoqught.

"Oh, I'm amazed that you're not mentioning all the money that I can make with psychic skills," Jacqueline commented with a sideways grin at Adam.

"Well, it goes without saying that with all the attention comes financial success as well," Adam replied as he looked her steadily in the eyes.

"Gosh! There's another example of success through unusual talents. Why don't I have any?" he continued in a desperate tone as he pretended to be emotionally distressed about the situation.

"You might also have a hidden talent that you're not aware of," Jacqueline responded as she studied Adam's face.

"You think so? When does it want to surface? When I'm forty-years old?" Adam asked, with a desperate look on his face as he pretended to be in deep despair.

In her own private bedroom much later on, Jacqueline looked at the swimming pool through her window. The water looked so peaceful as the wind sent ripples through it, causing tiny waves on the surface.

"What if I see things which are frightening in my dreams or visions?" she asked herself.

"Won't it shock me? What if I see a murder, for instance?" she whispered again. This thought made her shudder.

"If I saw a dead body or a monster I would be afraid and if I saw someone commit a crime I will also be afraid because they could find out that I know somehow?" she asked herself again.

"Wait, it's late. Let me go to bed and forget about funny things. Just now I give myself nightmares. Everyone else must be asleep by now."

It was so quiet except for some music that played softly somewhere.

"The others must be fast asleep due to fatigue because they were so busy with wedding preparations today," she told herself softly as she crept in under the bedcovers.

"Oh, my! I better fall asleep quickly because they all might be getting up early tomorrow morning if they rushed off to bed so quickly. I will have to get up early as well then."

Jacqueline switched off the bedside lamp and closed her eyes, hoping to fall asleep as soon as possible.

When she woke up later on, there was still only moonlight outside as she could tell from a gap in the curtains.

She felt uncomfortable and sat upright on the bed.
