Primal online

Since childhood Wyatt has always followed the advice of the adults around him. Study hard! get a good job! honestly not bad advice the problem is that's all he has ever done. In the year 2200 the first immersive full-body VR system is being released and with it comes the insanely hyped MMORPG Primal Online. With everything, someone could ever want from a fantasy game, it's no surprise when it takes the world by storm. Never taking any time for hobbies or interests Wyatt's life has quickly fallen into a constant loop of mundane boredom waiting to be broken. This all changes one day when his cousin invites him to try this new game during a family get-together. It doesn't take long for a spark of interest to emerge. Disclaimer: This is my first novel as well as where I plan to simply practice writing to get more comfortable so I don't know how detailed or active it will be.

Poison And Talented Teacher

Author note: earlier chapter accidentally said 20 stat points per level this has been changed to 10 since then! I just figured out how to edit published chapters! :>

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Hysteria] [Rank c]

[Causes your opponent to lose control of their emotions leading to both confusion and fits of rage. Can be used either as a liquid or gas.]

[Drowsy] [Rank e]

[Release a slow acting gas that when inhaled by others causes them to become fatigued over time]

Staring at his new skills Wyatt couldn't help but get excited. Although neither of the skills involved deadly poisons they were both incredibly useful skills, especially for someone who fights at a distance like Wyatt.

"Thank you teacher I'll make good use of these" Wyatt smiled at his teacher

"tch, I don't need thanks I need to win the bet" Saleen replied rolling her eyes.

Although she acted snarky she was quite pleased to see her new pupil start playing around with his new skills.

First, he tried using drowsy since it is the lower ranking of the two skills. Drowsy was very straightforward when using the skill his body can release a certain amount of light pink sleep inducing gas while slowly depleting his mana the longer he used it. After Wyatt stops the skill the pink mist will linger in the vicinity for different amounts of time depending on how long he initially held the skill.

After experimenting a bit he managed to understand the drowsy skill very quickly but when he switched to hysteria things became much more difficult.

The gas version of hysteria worked very similar to drowsy the older difference being that the cost per tick of mana was much higher due to the skill being a couple of ranks above the other but it wasn't until Wyatt attempted to turn hysteria into its liquid form that his struggles really began. Turning the hysteria into liquid involved slowly condensing the gas and solidifying it while increasing the amount of poison inside each drop this meant that not only was using this version of the skill much more taxing on Wyatts mana it was also much heavier on his lacking mana control. Due to this anytime Wyatt tried to add the drop of poison onto one of his weapons, it would quickly dissipate since he lacked the ability to control it for long periods of time.

Wyatt sat on the ground experimenting with his new skill for over an hour during this time he was barely able to form 5 droplets of poison each of them lasting anywhere between 2-10 seconds.

After the hour of training, Wyatts master handed him a glass of water as he lay on the ground sweat drops already forming on his head.

Saleen felt bad for her student and wished she could give him some advice but none of her skills involved condensing an element into liquid especially not something as unique and heavy as poison so instead, she simply watched with a worried face while silently cheering him on in her mind.

after a quick break to recover his fatigue and mana Wyatt opened his status and added his 10 free stats into mana bringing his total up to 35. He also noticed that his total health seemed to go up by a base of 20 per level.

"Status"

[status] [username: Twite] [level:2] [health: 220/220 [class: Chakram magician] [subclass: none] [strength: 15] [defense: 15] [mana: 35] [agility: 35] [endurance: 20] [affinity: Electricity, Wind, Poison ] [pets: none] [unassigned stat points: 0]

The reason Wyatt didn't mind dumping all his free stats into mana is that his agility already surpassed the level of most early players he might run into especially someone with a swordsman class who has to focus on the strength stat.

The added stats in mana gave Wyatt a massive boost in his total mana pool which meant he could now form about 8 drops before he was completely exhausted. Although the extra mana helped his practicing and exhaustion a lot it did little to help his control over the droplets of poison.

After practicing for another hour and a half Wyatt was able to get his control to the point of holding each drop for a minimum of 10 seconds. 10 seconds isn't very long and Wyatt knew that if he tried to throw a chakram with hysteria on it within this time he was almost guaranteed to fail. Despite his limited control if he could manage to fight his opponent at close range he might be able to manage a hit within those 10 seconds.

following this training session Wyatt stood up and started stretching, his teacher had already informed him that training mana control takes a very long time to improve. Choosing not to waste his time with minimal improvement before his spar Wyatt turned to his teacher hoping to find a better option.

"Teacher, would you be able to get a swordsman for me to train against?" Wyatt inquired

At first, Saleen looked a little confused by his question but soon realized Wyatt wanted to learn how to fight against swords before his match with the swordsmanship student. admittingly even though no one said it Wyatt actually had a massive advantage against his opponent in this regard thanks to the fact that besides his teacher he was probably the only chakram magician in the city. Swordsmen on the other hand could be found everywhere, it would probably take less than a minute for Saleen to find some random guard patrolling and throw him a couple of coins to practice against him.

"No problem, I think I know that perfect person for you to train against" Saleen replied with a mischievous grin.

Wyatt was confused by his teachers smile but thought nothing about it as he went to sit down while waiting for his sparring partner to arrive. But before he could even get comfortable his face turned to shock as he witnessed his teacher walk over to the weapon rack and casually pick up one of the swords before swinging it around.

"Why are you sitting? didn't you just ask me for a sparring partner?" Saleen questioned her shocked student.

"Weren't you going to find me someone else to spar against? I thought you fought with chakrams" he asked

Saleen giggled at her student before sharing some information with him "Elven training is pretty strict most elves are trained in the basics of most common weapons before they decide their main focus" she stated before continuing "Although my skill with a sword is lower than the sword instructors it's still far above the level of some beginner trainee don't worry!"

As if to confirm her earlier words Saleen proceeded to pick up different weapons ranging from a spear to a bow showing off some basic skills with little effort. At this point, Wyatt couldn't help but be impressed by his teacher as he took his fighting stance.

Fighting against his teachers sword went about how one would expect from Wyatt in fact, he proceeded to get his ass kicked around their training arena for the next couple of hours all while Saleen showed off that same mischievous grin from earlier.
