Chapter 3: Unicorn Vs The Forest Ghost

The philosophical question of, 'Do we fight more people in order to grow stronger or do we get stronger in order to fight more people.'

This doesn't apply to Pokemon as a whole, as it's solidly both, Pokemon want to get stronger in fighting more Pokemon, as they find that the most enjoyable time, and they fight more Pokemon in order to grow stronger.

Essentially, catching a Pokemon is applying for a job position, you pass the evaluation check, you pass the question and now you doing the practical.

Your job as a Pokemon Trainer is to convince a wild Pokemon through battle with your own that you have the qualifications to train them, and that they can put their trust in you so that they can continue their journey in growing stronger.

As Tye stopped his mental rant, he focused back on the battle me, Hatterz was just standing there, completely unbothered, at some point she just stopped moving from that spot.

Mimikyu on the opposite side of her still stood strong, he refused to give up, just as he was about to make another move, all function seized from the Mimikyu, and the Custom flopped over.

Never gave up fighting nor surrendered, in this state, Mimikyu refused to be caught by Tye and he did catch it now, it would never listen to him.

Sighing to himself, "Use Mimikyu, but not enough to wake him up."

Hatterz then proceeded to use Life Dew on the unconscious Mimikyu.

Fun fact about life dew and most healing Moves, they heal injuries and damages, but minimally restore stamina, so although the Pokémon is in perfect health, they are just too exhausted even stay awake.

Sighing to himself, set takes out his sleeping bag and sets it on the ground, takes out his phone, and begins scrolling through, trying to find the social media of the Ultra Sun.

After a few hours of waiting, an inhuman sound alerts his attention.

"■■..."

The sound of Mimikyu makes him release Hatterz from her Pokeball, and she notices the state of Mimikyu.

The Pikachu costume suddenly regains its shape, as Hatterz steps up to battle again, Mimikyu does something that surprises them all.

Mimikyu points towards Pen, the Galarian Ponyta, and then points towards Hatterz.

"□□■□□"

Tye looked towards Hatterz for a possible translation but all he got was a nod from her and an inquisitive stare from Pen.

He racked his brain, thought about the clues, and came to a conclusion.

"Mimikyu wants to battle Pen instead?"

"Hat, hat!" Hatterz nodded in agreement, singling that he was right.

"Alright, Pen get ready for battle."

"Pony!" Pen walked up front and they all could feel the excitement Pen had for the upcoming battle.

"■■□■□!"

Both of them were ready for battle, uniform vs the ghost.

As they were about to begin the fight, the first seconds of daylight sunlight appeared from the horizon.

Launching its claw forward, Mimikyu went straight for the attack, as Pen instantly used Confusion to counter.

Mimikyu stopped its attack as it jumped into the air, heading straight towards Pen.

Jumping back, Mimikyu landed on the ground harmlessly.

"Now use Fairy wind!" Tye ordered,

As Pen sent a pink-tented gust of win towards Mimikyu, Mimikyu dodged by using Shadow Sneak and launched itself forward.

Unlike in the night, the sliver of sun from dawn allowed them to see the Shadow Sneak on the ground, but that still didn't allow Pen to dodge in time.

As Mimikyu appeared behind Pen and received a big super effective hit.

'It grew stronger, its shadow Sneak is far faster than it was last night, and it started to use strategic abilities, but unluckily for you, the sun is out.'

"This is gonna be fun, use morning sun, get ready to counter."

'Although it is a bit of a risk with copycat.'

Pen closed his eyes as his whole body glowed brightly, the damage from earlier disappeared in front of their eyes.

As Mimikyu slowly moved around before speeding up, Mimikyu split into two and rushed towards Pen, one went underground while the other held its claw ready.

Tye, taking a risk but still making a decision, "Back up and use confusion wide area."

Jumping back, the air around him began to swirl as it was tinted pink, the shadow disappeared from the ground as the one moving above ground was left.

Its claw pushed through the wind and struck Pen, knocking him away, and the wind stopped.

Pen glowed once again, before standing up, but you could still notice that it had taken damage.

The exhaustion of an all-nighter has taken its toll on their decision making.

'The only attack Pen can use is Confusion is really limiting, it will take a while before he learns any physical moves."

Dipping in the ground, Mimikyu rushed towards Pen.

Noticing this, "Jump into the air!"

And Pen did just that, making a great leap, Mimikyu appearing in his previous spot.

Mimikyu sent out its claw to attack, thinking that once Pen was in the air, he couldn't dodge.

'Just because Confusion is limiting doesn't mean we can't make our own options.'

"Pen, Dive down, use confusion, and tackle together!"

Clenching his fist, hoping his idea worked, Pen hearing the orders, righted his position, his horn glowed blue as he dove straight down.

As Mimikyu was attacking both Hatterz and Pen, Tye noticed something, once Mimikyu outstretched his claw, he could move from position unless it pulled the claw back.

Unlike the start of the battle where Mimikyu anticipated a counter and was prepared to pull back if need be, now it was completely caught off guard.

Pen pushed through the claw and roared, hitting Mimikyu dead center.

"■■■■■■■!" Mimikyu roared in pain as the surrounding dust and sand were blown away, covering the area.

As the scene cleared, both Mimikyu and Pen could be seen standing and facing off against each other.

As Pen took a step forward, Mimikyu let out a weak cry with a nod and collapsed, not even 2 seconds later, Pen dropped to the ground as well.

Seeing the situation, Tye smiled to himself and returned Pen to his Pokeball and without a second thought through an empty one towards Mimikyu.

Shrinking in Mimikyu with a red light, the Pokeball instantly caught Mimikyu without resistance.
