Chapter 39 : Rise Of The Fall ; Part 2

"You must have seen those glorified alliance battles, right? Pokémon on Pokémon, both trainers giving commands to their pokemon... well, it doesn't work like that here. People don't wait for you to give commands, and mutual trust between pokemon and the trainer needs to be prepared beforehand. The target won't be your pokemon, but you. There's no etiquette in street fighting; both sides can play dirty as much as possible." Janine muttered before instructing Eli to go towards one side of the field before moving to the others.

"Energy user's like to get close with the other person while fighting while it's Pokémon on Pokémon. I'm here to assess your talent in this skill."

"2v2 or 1v1 pokemon?" Eli frowned as Janine thought for a moment before responding. "Send the most powerful Pokémon.. which seems to be your Teddiursa." Janine threw out a Poke ball.

"SCREE!" A Zubat came out as Eli felt a gust of wind come his way. Eli silently observed it before looking towards Skrelp and nodding his head to it.

Skrelp slowly shuffled towards the battlefield as Janine clapped her hands.

"Well done, you saw through me."

Janine wanted Eli to send out Teddiursa, who undoubtedly would fall prone to the harassment of Zubat, not to mention Zubat could fly away from the short-ranged attacks of Teddiursa, and it was domesticated and a lot stronger than the one in the cave.

"Are you ready?" Janine smirked before she cracked her knuckles and gave an eerie smile. Eli's hair raised seeing this, but he calmly nodded before suddenly moving to his side; a black barrel was all that Janine could see.

Eli squeezed the trigger of the gun before silently commanding.

"Water gun."

Skrelp released a high-pressure water gun towards the Zubat, of which Janine only saw the bullet fly toward her, but her smile only grew.

Eli watched as her figure flickered, leaving nothing behind.. almost like she teleported away. But she promised she wouldn't use energy, so this must be something else... right?

Eli's eyes flickered to the right, where Zubat swerved around Skrelp's water gun behind a voice came behind Eli.

"Zubat, air cutter."

sweat dripped off their face of Eli as he twisted the gun upwards and over his shoulder before shooting behind him. But when he turned around, there was nobody there again.

"Skrelp, use a water gun on the floor and ride it." Eli didn't have time to look over before looking around the warehouse for the rat woman.

Turning his back, Eli felt a gust of wind behind him, but he knew this highly-trained trainer couldn't make such an obvious mistake. Putting his hand behind his back, several chaotic strands came out of his fingers, piercing the air behind him.

Rapidly turning around, Eli saw an afterimage of the woman as he cursed. She was toying with him. Looking over to Skrelp, it had managed to dodge the onslaught, but Eli sensed something wrong coming off the Zubat. He looked towards it before his eyes widened.

"Level 20." Eli cursed as Janine flickered in front of him, as Eli raised the gun and fired.

But she disappeared once more.

"Feeling disheartened?" Janine muttered, which caused Eli to scoff while looking around for the women. But once he found nothing, he quickly sighed before raising the gun towards Zubat and firing.

A figure appeared before the Zubat, a dagger blocking the bullet before smiling.

"Good idea. When your target is unreachable, it's a good idea to go for the next line of defense, the pokemon. However, your gun is not a good option in the long run-"

Eli fired a bullet at her, and she disappeared before smirking.

"Oh.. you cheeky bastard. Don't interrupt a woman when she is talking to you. How about stage 2?"

"Men.. woman... children. All the same in my eyes." Eli muttered, not a trace of light reflecting off his dark eyes. "I care not for your charms, woman."

"You remind me of my father." Janine's smile faded, the joy fading from her eyes as Eli could see her disappearing again.

"Skrelp, haze," Eli instructed as he felt a chilling air seep around the arena, bleeding into his muscles as his braze quickly became visible. The screeching of Zubat could be heard as the voice's echoed around Eli. It came in all directions and sounded like multiple, so he couldn't listen.

"Interesting. Echolocation doesn't go through water particles as well, is this your plan, or was this pure luck?"

"There is no such thing as luck," Eli growled, quickly running over to Zubat, who was screeching. Running over, the thick haze in his view may have blocked his vision, but it also blocked hers. She was probably on the ceiling looking for an opportunity, as Eli stopped running and slowly started to walk instead towards the screeching Zubat and commanded Skrelp.

"Stop the haze."

Eli felt the wind, but instead of coming behind him, he looked up and condensed a normal energy barrier; the period was much longer than before, so it was successfully created, unlike before. Something that resembled a kunai came into contact with the wall, but its edge was successfully blocked.

"You can create normal energy even with the broken vessel?" Laughter echoed through the space. But when the haze fully dispersed, Janine looked to the voice to see nobody. Instantly looking toward the doorway, A small brown bear and a boy with a punch-able smirk looked at her.

"Oh... you seem to have understood the lesson. Congratulations." Eli's smile quickly faded when a crazed expression fell over Janine as he went on guard.

"Why? scared?" Janine's taunt was the last thing Eli focused on as purple energy surrounded her body. Bad memories flooded his mind as he thought back to Ava.

"Poison energy. I don't know if I should pity you or be scared for my life." Eli spoke out, which caused Janine to scoff, her eyes darkening evermore. The previous humor was gone as Eli flooded his outer body with chaos energy. A burning feeling in his throat was present as he spat out a thick pile of blood.

But something was burning, something on his back. Ignoring the pain, Eli looked toward Teddiursa before saying. "Kill the Zubat. Skrelp, come back to me!"

Eli shot her, but as expected, she disappeared again. Still, instead of a moment of silence, ten kunai flew into the air at him, of which he swiped his hand with chaos energy, creating a strand of webs that blocked the chaos energy. However, the momentum of the Kunai was not stopped, as it started to crack the chaos energy. Eli heard the waddling of Skrelp before muttering again. "Use acid!" The Kunai instantly melted, but Eli listened to the air swooshing to his left and right as time slowly slowed down around him.

The slow motion kicked in once more as he looked towards the kunai on the right, which was closer, but on the left, which was only a couple of minutes delayed. She threw two kunai in opposite directions in a second... but Eli had no time to be impressed as he assessed the situation.

The bullet time was cut shorter than last as Eli had a split-second to move. Raising his gun to the left, Eli felt the kunai slam into the weapon, and the cracking of the hard outer case could be heard before the pieces of the gun fell on the floor. He was looking towards the Kunai on course with the left kidney. Raising his hand, Eli felt his hand torn open by the Kunai; the flesh tore open. But his face didn't change as he dropped the broken gun and clutched his impaled hand.

"Good pain tolerance."

"Fuck you."

"That Kunai was coated with poison... which means that you are on a timer."

Eli stood up, the burning sensation on his back and in his naval slowly increasing as he felt energy surge in his body.

The energy slowly started to come out of his back as a crimson red tail-like appendage tore out of his back, causing Eli to grit his teeth.

"Your energy hurts you, huh? Much like me in that regard."

"We are not similar."

"Oh?" Janine had a smile on her face, but it wasn't one of laughing; it was one of mocking. "Your right. We are not similar. I'm strong, and you're weak."

Weak?

The energy surged as Eli looked towards Janine, letting the energy flow around his body.

Weak?

Maybe.

But he was determined to change that. No matter how much it took out of him.
