A New Evolution Of Poliwhirl?!

Kanto Region, Oak's Lab:

Laura Kernel gripped her head as she rolled around on her bed. If a person saw this, They would say that the girl was suffering from nightmares.

Tears dropped from her closed eyes as she remembered...

Laura jolted awake, rubbing her eyes with a sense of relief. Her eyes seemed glued to the bed which had a small wet patch.

Her face turned Red and she let out a slight shriek.

Laura Kernel had been granted residence in Pallet town 2 years ago by the Pokemon Professor himself after seeing her talents.

It was 6:00 and the sun had hardly come out but still, Laura could see her way to the lab perfectly. She had a habit of waking up early even though she slept late because of her nightmares.

She barely amassed an average of 5 hours of sleep and yet she pulled herself out of bed early in the morning every single day just to prove my worth to Professor Oak so he won't revoke my license to Pallet town.

'I know they know where I am, but they can't come here. If I get sent out, How will I be able to survive?'

Isn't that the whole point? Survival of the fittest. If she could live here until she died, Would she like it? A recurring day with a recurring timetable to spend the day.

Red spread his hands while sleeping and wrapped his hands around a certain Aura Pokemon that hated getting touchy.

"RIOLU!"

With a shout of determination, Riolu used a punch to knock her trainer flying.

...

"Whoa, Red. You came early today," Laura said.

Red was here early because Riolu knocked the sleep out of him with that single punch.

Red took his trench coat off.

"Whoa, The lab is looking incredibly clean," Red said, "Great job,"

"Thanks," Laura said.

She didn't notice it but her face lit up from a little bit of praise, something that had never happened before.

Laura let out a yawn much to her surprise.

"Whoa, Didn't you sleep?" Red asked, after her long yawn.

"I did... 4 hours," Laura admitted, barely squeaking out the last part but somehow Red heard it and immediately sprung forward, pushing her into the couch in the office.

"What... What are you doing?" Laura asked.

"Fall asleep," Red replied with a shrug, "You can't do research without a full night's sleep,"

Laura tried to protest but her mouth wouldn't open to protest. Did someone actually care about her well-being?

"Fine," Laura said, her heart felt calm then she let out a sigh, "Can I rest my head on your lap?"

Her face lit up as she asked for this favor, She knew it was embarrassing but it was how she slept when her Older sister was still with her.

Red didn't object at all, in fact he seemed all too willing to lend her his lap which left her speechless.

As she rested on his lap, Her mind and soul synchronized and her eyes closed. Within a minute, For the first time in her life, She had fallen asleep of her own Accord.

"Well what do we have here?" Samuel asked as the two of them stirred out of their sleep.

Samuel gave a knowing smile at Red and a salute inwardly.

Laura stared at the Professor, fear and embarrassment etched into her face.

"Honestly I don't care if you do it every morning," Samuel said, much to her surprise, "But Laura, try to sleep a lot more,"

With that, Samuel walked into his inner office, shutting the door behind him. Laura looked up at Red and their eyes met.

His Crimson and her blues met and a blush crossed her cheeks, He had a great amount of determination in that gaze of his.

"..."

"..."

For the next moments, There was awkward silence between the both of them before an unexpected guest stepped in and gasped.

"Laura and... Red?" Tina could barely say anything more before she was faced with the mother of all glares.

Now that the unprofessional scene was gone and the last member had arrived, Laura took the liberty of announcing their latest mission.

"As we all know, Poliwag has two evolutionary forms," Laura said, "Poliwhirl and Poliwrath,"

"Well a trainer said that his Poliwhirl evolved into some frog-like creature that is very different from Poliwrath, Therefore, the mission our group was assigned to," Laura said and cleared her throat, "is to go to Vermilion city and meet this trainer in question, any questions?"

Ella shook her head but Tina raised up her hands excitedly.

"Is it going to be like a trip?" Tina asked, only to be shot down by Laura who gave her a death stare, 'At least I know you're capable of loosening up...'

"Hey Red, Do you want to see us in Swim suits?" Tina asked causing everyone to turn to Red.

"Of course I do," Red replied like every normal man would do, Who doesn't like a good swim suit episode?
