"Good morning class. Im miss Riverdale! Today we'll be looking at what a pokemon is!" Miss Riverdale stood by the board side, picking up a chalk to write, her brown hair in a bun, her emerald green eyes turning towards the board.
Her figure was skinny yet tall, with a bright smile to go with all of it, I can already tell everyone in the school loves her.
"But first we need to know if anyone else knows what a Pokemon is." She continued looking around the room. I hoped that she wouldn't pick me because I don't know the first thing about Pokemon. I could barely pronounce the word! Poke-mon, poki-man, Pok-mon?
"you." the teacher called out to a little girl about my age. She had orange curly hair and emerald green eyes.
"Pokemon are our friends and they come in all shapes and sizes from being cute and adorable to big and powerful." She said, her hands on her hips in confidence.
Though that answer was extremely vague, something to expect from a five year old I guess.
"Wonderful Chloe you can sit now."
Chloe sat down, her orange curls bounced as she did, a bright smile plastered on her face one of pride. Miss Riverdale began writing on the board with the chalk and three weird balls in her other hand.
"But if we go over the textbook definition of a Pokemon." She stopped again and turned to the class with the ball,
"Pokémon are creatures of all shapes and sizes who live in the wild or alongside human partners called Trainers. During their adventures, Pokémon grow and become more experienced and even, on occasion, evolve into stronger Pokémon."
Though that answer was more detailed, it still left more questions than answers, though I didn't bother to ask any of them.
"for example." The teacher tossed the balls to the floor and out came a weird round pink ball with big green eyes and a swirl on its head, a lizard with orange scales, big blue eyes and a rock with a face and arms.
"These are pokemon." She introduced pointing it out to everyone.
Everyone was in awe of these strange creatures, but I didn't understand the appeal, I didn't want to get anywhere near that thing
"Come and say hi to Jigglypuff, Charmander and Geodude class!"
Everyone cheered and immediately went to pet and talk to the Jigglypuff but I stayed in my seat far away from the chaos.
"aren't you coming?" Chloe stopped in her tracks, looking at me with her big round emerald eyes.
I shook my head no, I didn't want to get anywhere near those weird things! What if they just randomly decide to bite me or something? What if I died?
She stared at me for a while before shrugging to herself and leaving with the crowd.
I took a sigh of relief.

Everyone was playing with Jigglypuff along with Charmander and Geodude and I was sitting in my seat waiting for the class to end. I decided to look out of the window watching the trees dance with the wind. My mom would say wind came from a creature called Lugia who made the birds Moltres Zapdos and arti.... arti- ...the majestic-looking ice bird.
We're all those pokemon? I thought they were gods, gods that people worshiped and made folklore about, though they might actually exist?
I closed my eyes, enjoying the serene breeze as it hit against my face,
bang!-
I quickly opened my eyes hearing something from the outside. I quickly got up and headed to the window to see what it was.
And I saw nothing but two ears prick up with a swaying dark flame-like hair pop out of a trash can.
"Teacher!" I raised my hand and Miss Riverdale turned to me.
"May I use the bathroom?"
Miss Riverdale smiles and nods and I was sent my way.
I wanted to see what was inside the trash can but you know what they say curiosity kills the Meowth.
I got to the trash can to see what was inside and it was a dark fox with red accents on its feet, eyebrows, and eyelids.
It looks like the mischievous type.
The fox noticed me and without hesitation, scrambling out the trashcan and running away, knocking it over in the process with a loud bang.
"What was all that commotion?" I heard Miss Riverdale say from the inside of the building.
Before I even got a chance to respond she came to the window and saw me standing near a trash can with a near-death trauma look in my eyes.
Long story short I didn't get out of that situation without a good scolding about honesty…Great, I just got here and I already got the nicest teacher in the school angry at me. I was put to sit in my seat until school was over though I didn't see that as a punishment so I was fine with it. I didn't make that obvious though I don't want her to hate me.
"you ok?" Chloe asked, sitting down in a chair next to me,
I looked at her confused for a second, and nodded hesitantly. We shared an awkward silent moment. At least it was awkward for me. Do kids even feel awkward?
"Are you scared of Pokemon?" she asked me bluntly, her voice short cut and straight to the point.
Where the hell did that come from?? Though that's a good question, am I scared of pokemon? I honestly don't know, surely not all pokemon are scary right? Kinda like animals, but so far, i'm not convinced in the slightest that they're our friends like they make them out to be
"I don't know.'' I shrugged. I have only met two Pokemon so far and have different feelings toward them I can't say for certain right now.
Understandably she looked confused by my answer but she pretended to understand what I meant. I can't help but think about that other Pokemon though it looked different from the others lately. It doesn't look like your pokemon, it looked, different from the others.

The bell rang and everyone packed their bags to go home for some reason I had a chilling feeling but I chose to ignore it.
"Ayuna!" I heard my mom's voice calling out to me. I smiled and she picked me up and snuggled me. I felt all warm and fuzzy.
"Let's get in the car, ok?"
I nod, grinning from ear to ear. It was almost embarrassing but I didn't care at the time.
When we got in the car I looked out of the window from my seat buckled down.
"Anything interesting happened at school today?" My mom asked me. I thought about it for a while and then I remembered the weird Pokemon from inside the bin!
"Mom?" I said in my squeaky little voice.
"Yes dear?" my mother responded to me
"I met a weird-looking fox today. It was red and black (kinda like a dark gray I don't know). What's the name of that Pokemon?" For some reason, I wanted to know more about that Pokemon even though I tend to be cautious of them.....so far at least.
"Oh! you're probably talking about a Zorua dear."
My mom is so helpful when It comes to these things it's almost like she knows everything!
"zo-ru-....a" I tried to imitate the word.
"you got it!" I can't see it but I can tell my mom is beaming with pride right now.
I smiled and looked back out the window as we drove off.
...
..
I whispered "Zorua..."
