18: Sweeping through the gym

"that's a powerful Gyarados you have there" Misty laughed a bit to herself, of course these weren't her strongest Pokemon, but since Jayden only had 1 gym badge, she couldn't bully him with her powerful Pokemon that reached over level 35.

"come out, Starmie" misty said and threw out another PokeBall after returning Staryu.

starmie released its signature cry as it landed in the water.

misty nearly facepalmed when she saw that Starmie was actually still intimidated by Gyarados.

"to think a new trainer has such a powerful shiny Pokemon" misty kept sighing in her head.

"Gyarados, prepare for battle, don't hold back" Jayden said to Gyarados when he saw misty's Starmie appear.

"starmie use confuse ray" Misty said instantly.

Jayden reacted immediately.

"Gyarados, dodge this attack, dive into the water"

the confuse ray was shot out from Starmie but it missed, Gyarados had dived into the water and disappeared without a trace.

"starmie, Leave the water NOW, get on a rock" misty said as she noticed the water turn turbulent.

starmie swam to the nearest rock and tried to get on it.

"hmph, Gyarados, use twister and aim for the rock" Jayden's voice sounded out immediately after misty made her move.

the water shook like an earthquake before gyarados's monstrous head appeared, it's huge tail appeared behind it immediately after and swung towards Starmie who was on the rock.

a devastating wave was created, the waters all around parted ways and a huge twister was sent flying towards Starmie.

what made this move even crazier was that the whole cerulean city gym building shook, the huge winds nearly broke all glass items that were around, even the rooftop seemed to be on the verge of collapsing.

the rock that Starmie was on shattered instantly, sending Starmie flying with the debris of rock.

"starmie hold on, use power Gem at it's head" misty said.

Gyarados stabilized itself in midair after being sent flying, a couple gems glowing with light appeared beside it and flew off towards Gyarados like bullets.

"Gyarados, use waterfall to block it" Jayden also made a move.

Gyarados would find it hard to avoid the power Gem attack, even if it went under water.

his best bet was currently a waterfall.

the waters all around shook once again admits it's already violet waves.

a wall of water was lifted up into the sky, starmie's power gems landed in the water, due to the power of waterfall the power gems lost all their power.

"NOW, lock onto Starmie and finish this with ice Fang" Jayden shouted.

Gyarados released a toe-curling roar before dashing through the waterfall, it's snake-like body maneuvered like a whip before it appeared in front of Starmie.

ice coated gyarados's sharp fangs as it bit towards Starmie.

"Starmie, Light screen then use power Gem again" Misty said, her fighting experience was proven just from this battle.

starmie didn't avoid gyarados's ice Fang, a screen of light appeared in front of it.

Gyarados roared and stopped in it's attack before releasing it's large tail, slapping at Starmie.

swoosh!!!

power gems appeared around Starmie and shot off.

boom!!!

a loud collision was heard, both Gyarados and Starmie were sent flying back.

"hehe, not bad huh" misty said while gazing at Jayden.

"You're not bad either" Jayden said with a smile.

"Gyarados, stop playing games and finish this" Jayden said to gyarados, this whole time it had just been playing around.

although Gyarados couldn't have counters starmie's second power Gem attack with a waterfall, Gyarados's power using ice Fang was more than enough to break through both the light screen and the power Gem.

In that close space, even if Gyarados was affected by the light screen, Starmie had no choice but to take the ice Fang head.

Gyarados roared at Jayden to say that it understood.

"ice Fang once again, use your full speed" Jayden called out again.

Gyarados dived into the deep water before ascending again, it shot out like an arrow being released from a bow.

it's speed alone caused the waters to part in different directions.

misty flinched, the Gyarados had actually increased in speed?

starmie had landed on another rock and prepared for this attack.

"starmie, let's go again, counter with hydro pump" misty said, in her mind Gyarados and Starmie had the same level on overall attack power, there was no way gyarados could push through a full powered hydro pump from Starmie.

starmie used a hydro pump, a huge raging pump of water was shot out, almost like a column had been sent flying towards Gyarados.

before Gyarados could collide with the hydro-pump, Gyarados twisted and turned before diving into the water in a split second.

hydro-pump had missed Gyarados.

boom!!

the water tore appeared and Gyarados appeared again, it's menacing head roared before it's fangs bared out.

ice Fang.

starmie was hit and sent flying immediately, landing next to misty.

starmie tried to stand up but it couldn't, it was heavily bruised and fell back down.

"it seems like I underestimated this Gyarados" misty laughed to herself before returning Starmie to it's PokeBall.

"the winner is the challenger" the voice of the referee landed in Jayden's ear, signaling his victory in his second gym battle.

"Gyarados we won again" Jayden laughed and approached the edge of the water.

Gyarados appeared before him and rubbed its head on his stomach affectionately.

misty appeared with a smile on her face.

"You're one of the strongest new trainers I have ever faced in this gym, it was nice battling you" she said.

"you're very strong as well, it was an honor to fight you" Jayden replied calmly after returning Gyarados.

"here is the cerulean city gym badge, good luck on your future battles" mist handed him the gym badge before leaving the battle field.

Jayden placed the gym badge in his case before getting ready to leave the huge building.
