Chapter Three

Kira and Uma walked around the market that evening buying dresses and other things.

"You know what? I wonder how you know all these things and people. I thought you lived all your life on the sea." Kira rolled her eyes.

"Well while on the sea I read all about it and my dad tells me the story so don't stress yourself asking how." Uma smirked.

"So I'll just waste my coins on these stuffs? Never." Kira rolled her eyes.

"Uh...flakes?" Uma looked up. "It's snowing."

"Oh, great. It's snowing."Kira frowned.

"Come on Kira. Winter is the best." Uma nudged her.

"Oh no. I hate wearing heavy clothings when outside, my hair gets darker and heavier during winter." Kira frowned.

"Come here. We'll get some winter coats and scarves for you." Uma pulled her into a cloth store. "According to dad, this is the best cloth store in Vitalia."

"Nice." Kira mumbled.

"You should quit your cold act Kira. Look at boys looking at you. You wouldn't want to send them away with your behavior." Uma used her fingers to show Kira she quoted the word behavior.

"Haha very funny." Kira replied sarcastically and looked away. "Let's just get some clothes and return home shall we? I also have to stop by the library to borrow books."

"Aye aye captain Kirana." Uma smirked and Kira just rolled her eyes.

The bell rang as they walked into the library with baskets of clothes and other stuffs.

"I would like to rent some books please." Kira said to the old man behind the counter. His face was hid in a newspaper.

"Okay." The man put the paper down and gasped. "Kira, child is that you?"

"Uhh, yes?" Kira raised her brows.

"Pa James, Kira lost her memories so she couldn't remember." Uma smiled at him.

"Oh, no problem I could tell." He chuckled and walked to them. "You used to come here a lot when you were five. You would read and read till night and sometimes you'll fall asleep and I'll have to take you home."

"Oh." Kira just replied flatly.

"You're still the same. Always quiet and cold I can see." He smiled leading them to the inner part of the library.

"I just act normal. I'm not cold." Kira protested.

"Oh, I tell you all the time Kira. You're cold and quiet." Uma pat her hair.

"I admit I'm quiet but not cold." Kira frowned.

"You know you can't know how you act better than those who see you." Pa James replied.

"No it just depends on how they see you. That doesn't necessarily mean that is you." Kira replied.

"I see." Pa James nodded.

Kira rented about ten books and of course gave it all to Uma to carry.

"Oh seriously Kira." Uma groaned.

"You brought me out so you'll shoulder everything." Kira replied looking at her fingers.

They got home finally and Uma had to put everything in Kira's room.

"You'll pay for this Kira." Uma fumed.

"Meh." Kira shrugged and gave her five piece of her treasure coin. "Bye."

Kira walked up the stairs but Eva called her back.

"Come stay with us a little, won't you little pirate?" Eva gave her a pleading look.

"Okay." Kira could only give in.

The three of them - Kira, Eva and Evie - sat by the fire talking and talking. Well to be precise, Eva and Evie.

"So mum I remembered, you promised to tell me about my father." Kira looked up at them and they looked at each other.

"Well, uhn.....uh...."

"Okay. I get." Kira replied. "What about my childhood. I can't remember anything."

"Well, you were really secretive since you were a kid so we don't know much. The only thing we know is you sometimes sneak out to play with someone we don't know about." Eva replied.

"That's the only thing anyone knows? Gosh." Kira frowned.

"You used to paint." Evie replied.

"I know." Kira replied.

"Well you used to say you wanted to go to the palace but you know commoners are not allowed." Evie said.

"I did?" Kira looked up.

"Oh yes. You were so obsessed with going to the palace that I had to start following you around but you escaped a day and went to the palace. You almost got in before I caught you." Evie smiled as she remembered.

"Holy mother." Kira groaned.

"Yes. You were quite cute then." Eva chuckled.

"Cute ehn." Kira chuckled and stood up. "I'll take my leave now."

"Okay, darling. Good night. Don't forget to put out the light." Evie kissed her cheeks softly and Kira walked up to her room.

Kira sat on her bed looking out at the high moon. She sighed and was about to close the door when she saw something fly above her outside. It was as large as a human and has wings. It seems to be one with dark sky but she could still make it out.

"Mmn, it's like a human flying." Kira frowned. "Who am I kidding?"

Kira picked one of the books Pa James had given her. She then noticed she didn't see this book before. It had a golden lock and golden metals were used at the edge of the cover. How will she open it?

As soon as she placed her hands on the lock the book suddenly glowed and disappeared. Kira gasped not believing her eyes.

"What just.... what just happened?" Kira looked around still surprised. She couldn't find her voice to scream.

Suddenly Melchoir sat up on his bed and he saw the Lords appear all at once except Ralph who came in from the garden.

"Kirana. I remembered. Her name is Kirana. She's in the kingdom. She's here." Melchoir gasped.

"I saw her. Golden hair and fair skin." Ralph smirked.

"Take me to her. Now." Melchoir stood up but Ralph pushed him back.

"You can't. You can only see her secretly until the book she touched gets back to the guardian. If not you'll have to face the consequences." Ralph replied.

"Damn consequences I want to see her." Melchoir hissed.

"Finally. I can now rest peacefully." Viltalis sighed.

"Oh, the restless nights just begun. We'll have to protect her every now and then." Achilles rolled his eyes.

"Leave the men. Ralph take me to her." Melchoir said and Ralph nodded.

Melchoir stood at a corner in Kira's room watching her sleep. He could tell she was a bit disturbed in her sleep. He smiled to himself looking at her golden hair spread across the pillow.

"Kirana. My weakness. My queen. My little pirate queen."
