Suddenly a car drove by splashing Alex in muddy water drawing him away from his thoughts. "(Sigh), I better get out of this rain." Alex spotted some lights from an old shop and headed towards it. The shop gave off a warm orange glow that seemed to make the cool rain dripping down from the heavens warm up. As Alex sat down on the store steps he continued his thinking.

Alex stared as the store attendant left him. 'What's her problem?' he thought as he continued to walk around the store. Alex walked past all the jewelry and past the cosmetics section ending up where all the luxury and designer items were sold. He saw Gucci, Burberry, Coach, and Louis Vuitton. Just as Alex was walking past, he saw a familiar face out of the corner of his eye. "Emily! Over here," He shouted while waving to his girlfriend in the Louis Vuitton store.
"Baby, it's him! It's him who is pestering me and won't let us be in a relationship!" Emily yelled out suddenly.
"Huh, Emily, what are you talking about?" Alex said in confusion as walked into the store. It was then that Alex realized there was another man standing beside Emily. He had his arm around Emily's waist and if anyone saw them they would undoubtedly think the handsome man and the pretty girl were lovers. "Emily! What is the meaning of this? Why are you with Jason?!" Alex shouted. Jason Sterling was Alex's high school classmate. His family was extremely wealthy, worth hundreds of millions of dollars and owning dozens of companies. Jason was always the center of attention being rich, tall, handsome, and great at sports. The epitome of a perfect man.
"Hey! your the one bothering my girl?" Jason's deep voice filled the room.
"Your girl?! She's been dating me for the past 3 years!" Alex continued to yell. "What are you doing with my girlfriend?!"
Jason smirked. "I'm treating her very nice for her birthday," He said drawn out in a relaxed manner. "Were going to the plaza hotel tonight, presidential suite." He said with a lecherous smile.
"You B*stard!" Alex yelled in anger while charging at Jason. BAM! Jason snapped his fist forward and smacked Alex square in the face. Alex reeled from the blow and Jason followed up with a swift right hook sending Alex to the ground. Alex laid flat on the ground of the Louis Vuitton store, stunned. Fighting back tears he turned to Emily. "Why?"
"I'm sorry, Alex," Emily had said, her eyes filled with a mixture of guilt and defiance. "Jason can give me things you can't. He can take care of me. I dated you back then because I didn't know how the world works. Money maters most. Jason has everything I ever wanted in a man. While you... your just a loser!" She shouted loud enough for the entire store to hear. "See these clothes Jason bought for my birthday? This is a Louis Vuitton wool and silk dress worth over 3000 dollars and this pair of sneakers are worth 900! You can't even begin to compare to Jason, you don't have a job, you live off unemployment money, and you only have a high school diploma. If you truly love me, you'll let me and Jason live happily ever after!" Emily finally finished screaming and took a deep breath. "Just leave." She said.
