Chapter 27 : Into the Underworld

Two days had passed, Leo had already gave Tom his license hunter. It is the end of the second semester and on the next two months Tom will be a 3rd year in high school.He has two months to go to a raid and grind for levels.

One day ago, Leo haven't opened his rewards from the last mission he completed, so he decided to open it now.

[Reward 1 : 100,000 Gold]

[Reward 2 : Key to the Underworld]

'Hmmm? I already have a key like this. Why would the system gave me this again?'

[Underworld's Key : (A-rank Item) The Underworld's where beginner hunter go and grinds for level and items]

[The underworld has 11 level. Each level contains monster and a level Boss except for level 6.]

"Beginners?" Tom's face crossed his mind when he read that word.

[Reward 3 : Staff of the fallen magician (C-rank Weapon) no required level]

'I'm not a mage, this system's broke giving me all the useless stuff' he let a deep sighed.

Whilst he was on his room, Tom just got home from the closing ceremony. Tom quickly look for his brother, knocked on Leo's door and barged inside his brother's room.

"Brother the closing ceremony had just ended. Now let's go on a hunt!" Tom was out of breath. It seems like he was running all the way from bus station to home.

"Huh? You just got home, get some rest for the day. We'll go tomorrow"

Tom's eye brightened as he smile.

"Really! Then I'm gonna take rest and prepare for tomorrow" Tom was ready to leave the room when Leo called out to him.

"Tomorrow's hunt will be different from the one you always watch"

This made Tom to get curious and asked. "What do you mean by that brother?"

"You'll know tomorrow" Leo chuckled as he pushed Tom out of his room.

Back to present, Leo haven't saw Tom's status when he first take the evaluation. Normal can't see their status, they have to go to Hunter's Association and ask for their stats to be measured.

Tom was standing beside Leo. Tom was carrying a bag full of food and water they'll need. It might take them a few weeks to finish completing all the levels, it might even took months.

The transportation was successful, though they don't know what the place was.

A plain red terrains where a small stand where visible from their sight. They both decided to go and have a look to know what's exactly the underworld place are.

It seemed like they were noticed by the figure inside the stand.

"Hello?-" Leo was shocked when he saw that it was a human.

"Hello, it's rare for beginners to arrived late" he was clearly a human, nothing can be considered as nonhuman.

"I have lots of questions right now that I want to ask!" Tom should be the one who'll be asking here.

"Okay, one at a time" he was smiling.

"Then, why is a human here? I mean you. And Tom listen, he'll answer your earlier questions"

Tom nodded, the human puts his hand on his chin.

"That's a strange thing to ask but I will answer it and your other questions too"

"I'm all ears"

"This is a separate world from the one we live and there are different world not just one but many. Of course I don't came from the same world as yours. This world was created by the Lord of Light when he fought the King of Darkness and sealed him inside the lowest, the level 10. He is so powerful that no one had ever beaten him since he was imprisoned here. All of his generals were separated into each floors, it is also said that they are living for almost a thousand year. This underworld have been created 600 years ago and the reason they're still alive was because the level Boss and the King of Darkness haven't seen and met their worthy enemy"

The two of them looks like they couldn't take that all inside their head,

then Leo asked again.

"What about level 6? It is said that there's no monster there"

"It would be good if you ask them that directly. That is if you will reached level 6"

"What are you!-" Leo shut Tom off, he knew what the human said.

There people watching them from afar carefully hiding their presence. Waiting for the right moment to move. With a single step from Leo, came a super fast figure pop up in front of him.

The human quickly stretch out his hands and wants a handshake. Of course Leo didn't took it and shake, he was told by the human earlier that "Trust no one" that left him all confused.

'So fast' "Who are you!?" Leo asked.

"No need to be on guard, I'm just here make friends with you two and form a party"

"Huh? Why would we form a party with you?"

"You two are new, I'm new so let's do it"

"No, you, approaching us is suspicious so I think we'll pass"

"Brother he seems like he's saying the truth" Tom said but Leo's made his mind.

"No! And you, why are you following us?"

"I'm Evan" he won't stop on following them.

"Ahhh! I won't be responsible for you and don't walk behind us, go first"

"You might be wary because of what 'he' said right? That also applies to him"

He's right, if he said that he's know that Leo will either trust his words or really trust no one including him.

The three of them went down to level 1 with Evan leading the way.There were other humans on the level 1, but they weren't fighting any monsters, yet. Instead were waiting and talking to each other, others preferred to be alone whilst others formed a group.

"The level test haven't start, we are the last batch of the beginners taking the test on level 1"

"It seems that you know a lot about this Evan?" They look and found a place to rest before the test start.

"Of course, we were told first at hand before going here" he seemed quite confident coming here. "The Underworld open every five years, that's to make strong humans that can stand toe-to-toe to powerful monsters"

"So you're telling that there is something big coming to every world?"

"That... I can't for sure, but our prophet predicted the greatest invasion on every world"

Tom and Leo don't know if they should just believed him or not. But they know for sure that before that happen they need to be stronger to protect their family.

[Ahem! Okay, I'm the level administrator and the Level Boss, Rhasta]

All of the people present had their ears on the voice coming from everywhere.

"I guess it's starting"

[For today's test, it's called Capture the Monsters, as its name applies, you need to go and capture the monsters that will be release. Killing them wouldn't count, that'll contradict today's game. Form a group of three and the 20 teams who gets the most monsters pass the test. Ahh, also, for those who pass will be given a chance to fight and kill me. That is if you can hehehe. Shall we start?]

The monsters being caged had been released, there were different monsters rank from E to S.

"This is tough for a level 1 test but let's do this"
