"papa, when will the ship reach Reverse Mountain?" Emily looked out at the sea and asked curiously.
"We'll be at Reverse Mountain in an hour." Ethan observed the weather and sensed the fast-moving streams of water.
Emily's eyes flashed and she seemed very excited.
"There is a ship approaching us!!!" All the passengers got nervous when hearing what the sailors said and they thought it was a pirate ship but after a while they felt relaxed hearing that the ship was carrying the flag of the Mercenaries Guild.
Emma looked at Ethan and asked, "Did you summon them here?"
Usually guild ships don't approach other ships for no reason.
"not me." Ethan shrugged, "Maybe they have a mission on this ship."
"Hmm, you're right." Since the Mercenaries Guild is a large organization, of course it will follow a hierarchical system to sort information and tasks so those at the top don't need to know every little thing that happens within the guild.
The guild ship arrived next to the merchant ship.
The captain of the merchant ship politely greeted the union members and then asked them why they had stopped the merchant ship.
"I am Jaco, captain of this ship. We are the Mercenaries Guild protecting this area from the sea so there are no pirates." A guild member advanced and spoke arrogantly, "In exchange for our hard work in protecting you, every merchant ship that passes through this sea must pay a tax."
The workers and passengers of the merchant ship looked at each other strangely because this merchant ship belonged to the Mercenaries Guild.
All the passengers thought the same, 'Isn't it stupid for the Mercenaries Guild to take taxes from itself?'
The captain of the merchant ship's friendly look changed to aggressive. "Which department do you work in? Mention your code."
The captain knows very well that this is a group of crooks, but he asked just as a precaution.
"Stop talking nonsense, old man, if you don't pay your taxes, the Mercenaries Guild will chase after you and take your head." One of them became hostile and tried to kick the captain of the merchant ship.
But before the leg could reach the captain, it was cut off.
The man fell to the ground screaming in pain and looking in fear at the sword in the hands of the captain of the merchant ship.
Jaco pulled his sword from the scabbard and pointed it at the captain of the merchant ship and said angrily. "How dare you attack a guild member?! Do you want to make the Mercenaries Guild your enemy?"
"You are just crooks pretending to be part of the Mercenaries Guild." The captain of the merchant ship did not waver and attacked Jaco and cut his head off, "The Mercenaries Guild has no weak men like you."
The crooks' faces turn blue when they see their strongest man die in this way and they start running away.
But before they fled, someone shouted menacingly, "You will regret opposing the Mercenaries Guild, Arthur-sama himself will take revenge for us and finish you off."
"Don't let them escape!!" The captain ordered the sailors, but after a moment his expression changed slightly and then he denied his previous order, "Let them run for now."
"...." All the sailors looked at the captain in silence.
....
"Did you do something?" When the captain changed his orders, Emma tilted her head and looked at Ethan.
"Yes, I told him to do that." The annoyance was evident on Ethan's features. "It's better to let them escape and then track them down and finish them off all at once."
"Are you upset that someone is using Arthur's name?" The corner of Emma's lips rose into a wry smile.
"Yes, I am disturbed, that such people are tarnishing my reputation and that of the Guild." In fact, Ethan is not interested in reputation, but he is upset when he thinks that some ugly and fat person is using his identity.
As soon as he heard about someone using his identity, he remembered the fat man who took Luffy's identity in the anime. 'Even though I know it's someone else, the image of that ugly person doesn't go away from my mind.'
...
Hours passed and they finally reached the Red Line, but while entering the Grand Line, their ship suffered some damage from a collision with the Red Line while riding the currents to climb the reverse mountain.
Because of this they had to stay for a while at the lighthouse at the beginning of the Grand Line in order to repair the damage to the merchant ship.
"Papa, why didn't you protect the ship?" Emily sighed as she looked at the sailors repairing the ship.
"There was no need for me to interfere, and also if I helped them every time the sailors would slack off because they would depend on me to solve their problems." Ethan patted his daughter on the head.
"But the ship's collision with the mountain led to the destruction of some of the valuables that I had collected in my room." Emily sighed deeply with a sad look.
"Don't worry, I'll buy you another one later." Ethan picked her up and gently patted her back.
Emily rested her head on his shoulder and gave a sweet smile, "Then Papa, you must buy me ten times that in compensation."
Ethan's eyelids twitched at what his daughter said, 'Damn, my daughter is getting greedier but I can't refuse her a request.'
Emma sighed while placing her hand on her forehead when she saw that Ethan was about to agree. "Ethan, you spoil her too much."
Ethan laughed lightly, "Mama's right, so there won't be any compensation."
"You're joking right?" Emily looked at her father with teary eyes.
Seeing these teary eyes, Ethan hesitated a little, and the trick of the puppy's teary eyes seemed to be very effective on Ethan, but Emma intervened in the nick of time and pulled his daughter out of his arms, "Don't expect that you will deceive us with your acting."
"Tch!"
'Tch?' Ethan looked at his daughter in astonishment when he heard the annoyed sound coming from her little mouth.
Although she showed an annoyed countenance, she looked cute with her little face.
