Dragging the massive body of Edward Weevil, Roja stepped onto the deck of Noah's Ark Maxim.
The sheer scale of the ark was overwhelming—just standing on its deck made it feel as though the entire world was encompassed by the colossal hull of the ship. The ark's presence loomed over the scene, a testament to its unimaginable size and power.
The moment Roja and Weevil boarded Noah's Ark Maxim, the island below them crumbled, collapsing into the ocean. The landmass was consumed by the sea, leaving behind massive waves and a swirling vortex where it once stood.
Without lingering, Roja activated the ark's propulsion with the power of the spells and set course for O'Hara.
At his side was Edward Weevil, now transformed into a relentless war machine. Roja was confident in Weevil's strength and unwavering loyalty—a result of his unique intervention. Weevil would act as a powerful guardian, ensuring O'Hara's protection even in Roja's absence.
Roja had a strong sense that the Navy's surveillance of O'Hara would soon escalate. If they failed to uncover what they sought, another strike was inevitable. Weevil's presence would be a sufficient deterrent in Roja's absence and a formidable force in any conflict.
Meanwhile, aboard the warship, Kalifa and the injured marines had reached Marineford.
The Navy's medical team, already prepared for their arrival, rushed to assess Admiral Zefaefa's condition as soon as the warship docked. Despite his severe injuries, Zefaefa's vital signs were stable, drawing awe from the medical staff.
"Master Kalifa, what exactly happened to Admiral Zefaefa?" one of the lead doctors asked, his voice tinged with disbelief. "His life signs are remarkably stable despite the extent of his injuries. This level of recovery is almost... miraculous!"
The medical team soon discovered similar signs of advanced treatment among the naval interns. The unfamiliar techniques baffled even the most seasoned medics.
Kalifa responded calmly, though her tone carried pride: "It was Admiral Roja—White Dove—who treated them before we returned."
"Admiral Roja?!" one of the doctors exclaimed, stunned. "To think he possesses medical skills this advanced… This surpasses anything we've seen. It's a miracle!"
The awe-filled murmurs among the medical staff continued, but Kalifa's mind was elsewhere. She had left Roja behind, battling Edward Weevil on a collapsing island.
In the Fleet Admiral's office, Sengoku looked at Kalifa.
"Kalifa," Sengoku began, "where is Roja now?"
"When we left, Admiral Roja was still engaged in battle with Weevil. The island was already collapsing by then. He ordered us to leave first and bring Admiral Zefaefa and the others to safety. He said they needed better care to avoid long-term complications. I trusted him and followed his orders."
Kalifa's voice wavered slightly as she clenched her fists. Though she maintained composure, her guilt was evident.
Sengoku frowned but nodded in understanding. "I trust Roja as well. He wouldn't have given such an order unless he was confident. I'll dispatch an investigation team to search for any signs of him. Stay strong—he'll return."
"Understood," Kalifa said, though her heart was heavy.
Kalifa carried with her Roja's personal Den Den Mushi, but it remained silent. Roja had left it behind, as was his habit, leaving her unable to reach him.
Three days passed.
Kalifa barely slept, spending most of her time in Sengoku's office, anxiously waiting for updates.
"Buru-buru-buru!"
The sound of a Den Den Mushi echoed through the room, snapping Kalifa to attention. Sengoku answered swiftly.
"Reporting, Fleet Admiral," came the voice of an intelligence officer. "We've searched the specified coordinates thoroughly, but there's no trace of the island. It seems to have completely sunk into the sea."
Sengoku's expression darkened. Kalifa, standing nearby, felt a wave of despair crash over her. She sank onto the sofa, murmuring to herself, "This can't be... Roja is too strong. No matter how powerful Edward Weevil is, he couldn't possibly defeat Roja!"
A sharp, steely determination replaced her despair.
Kalifa vowed to herself, I must become stronger. I will be ready to fight by Roja's side when he returns.
"Fleet Admiral," Kalifa said suddenly, her voice firm. "I've heard there's an upcoming competition for the Special Intelligence Division. I wish to participate."
Sengoku raised an eyebrow but quickly agreed. "Very well. I'll register you. Rest assured, if there's any news about Roja, you'll be the first to know."
Kalifa nodded, bowed slightly, and exited the office.
Outside the office, Kalifa encountered a familiar figure.
"Kalifa," said Hina, her pink hair swaying as she approached, "Hina has been looking for you."
Kalifa's weary eyes met Hina's calm gaze. "If you're here to ask about Roja, I don't know. But I believe in him. He'll return."
Hina nodded thoughtfully. "Hina believes in Roja too. But Hina also feels uneasy. I thought a good sparring session might help clear your mind. What do you say?"
Kalifa's lips curled into a faint smile. "You're right, Hina. Let's head to the training ground. I could use the exercise."
Far away, aboard Noah's Ark Maxim, Roja gazed out over the endless clouds.
It was only now that he realized he hadn't brought his Den Den Mushi. He chuckled at his oversight—he had always relied on Kalifa to keep track of such things.
"I should head to O'Hara quickly," Roja murmured. "Kalifa will worry, and Sengoku will grow suspicious if I don't report back soon."
Adjusting the power of the ark's spells to maximum output, Roja directed Noah's Ark Maxim toward O'Hara. The massive vessel soared through the skies like a god's chariot, its destination clear.
