Garp battles

Akainu of the Magma was a tough man, enduring the hardest punches with the toughest iron skin. His powers tried to automatically heal him, and tried it's hardest, but it could not, for the Haki of Roger was allowing it not to work efficiently.

There he lay, a man defeated and withdrawn from a battle. And thus was lost the greatest asset in the war, the strongest of the three Admirals, who are told to be the Navy's greatest military powers. When he was thwarted, a tumult was risen that erupted and blasted quite a few eardrums.

The Marines shouted and yelled, and shook their trembling arms.

In a fit, the Marines, without the consent of the Fleet-Admiral, decided to execute Ace. If they were to not win the war, then they might as well kill the person who was meant to be killed from the beginning, for that was their duty.

A handful of Lieutenants, the last of their lot, came upon the shackled Ace with their sharp spears and iron pistols, aiming to assassinate him instantly.

They knew that Roger would be upon them any moment, and that they had to hurry and make haste for their cause. And when Gol. D. Roger learnt of their motives, his eyes widened for a second.

Will he be able to finish off Garp and Sengoku both, in a few seconds, enough to go and save Ace? Was he powerful enough, and fast enough?

Yet as these thoughts raced across his mind, his actions were instantaneous. Swift as an eagle he soared and leapt towards Ace, and he ignored Garp and Sengoku entirely.

But as he ran forward, his sense of judgement left him, and he failed to see Garp zooming from his side, appearing at his blind spot trying to hit him.

And as Roger's eyes remained fixated at Ace, Garp's punch landed, and Roger soared in the wrong direction, and hit the ground a hundred paces away from his intended location.

So great was the Haki that was imbued within him, the Haoshoku and the Busoshoku, that Garp's punch affected him not.

And he himself wondered… what about his kenbunshoku?

And for a moment, he stood still in his place, and thought.

How deeply was his rage blinding him? Was his wrath and anxiety mixed in such a concoction that his Advanced Observation was being rendered useless by the likes of this old Vice-Admiral?

And therefore he was on his feet, and tried not to sway, as he rethought and rearranged his thoughts carefully. And then occurred his doom.

As he let himself get dazed, for only a matter of seconds, the Marines' weapons got near a feet of Ace.

As the first steel entered his son's body, the King shook with a might.

But even as the Lieutenant thrusted forth his lance, it was blocked.

Blocked by the one and only Monkey. D. Luffy.

The man, who had been previously knocked down by his grandfather, had finally mustered enough strength and had gathered enough energy to start his sprint for saving his brother again.

When he found out that his brother was going to get killed, his rush turned into a charge that made him seem like lightning. With his extraordinary Gear 2, he whizzed past all and slammed down the Marine who attacked his Ace.

And therefore was Ace saved, yet again, by his dear brother.

Sengoku saw Luffy only seconds before he rescued Ace, so he could do nothing but watch.

He knew, that his main fight was with Roger. If Roger was not defeated, then what will be the use of taking down Luffy?

The other small-shots are secondary targets. In this dire situation, it is always better to take down the great threats first. And yes, of course, he was going to kill Ace with his own two hands, even if the entire Navy was going to get destroyed.

Rage boiled and crawled under his skin, but Sengoku was smart enough to remain under his senses without losing control. The key to victory was both tactical intelligence and that boost of adrenaline that was required to win the battle.

Somehow, he had to win. There was no other way or alternative.

When Roger faltered, Sengoku gestured to Garp, motioning him to attack the enemy from the front. When Garp is the visible hostile, Sengoku would attack Roger from his behind, and take him at unawares, or so was his plan.

Even as Roger saw that his son had been rescued by Luffy, Garp came upon him from his front, and raised his fist. Gathered was the Advanced Armament Haki, and Garp's red knuckles glistened from the flow of his purple Haki.

And when Garp streaked like the wind, and confronted Roger, the Pirate King saw the Golden Buddha's glow behind him.

Instantly Roger sidestepped and leaped aside, and shoved forth an arc of energy, which was produced from his sword. Aimed at Sengoku, it hit it's mark, though Sengoku had already changed into a defensive position. Though he was filled with a golden might, the Fleet-Admiral was not strong enough to withstand the attacks of Roger. Even he felt that each swing of the blade was heavier than a mountain, and each step taken by him faster than lightning. His presence was such as stormclouds emancipating thunder, a colossal entity.

Sengoku himself was strong, very strong. Yet because of his immense size and the shaping of his Buddha-like form, his versatility and speed had been greatly reduced. He could no longer completely react to the speed of Roger. His mind worked a hundred times faster than his limbs, and he struggled to catch up to the workings of Roger.

As the arc of energy pushed back Sengoku, Garp whizzed forward and feinted, acting as if giving an uppercut using his left arm, and then actually jabbing Roger.

But Roger was fast, and could read clearly the moves of his opponent. He brought forth his sword and used it to half-sword and protect himself from the jab; in the end Garp's punch did less to him than expected.

Being pushed back a few yards, Roger lunged forth, and swept at Garp's legs. Garp jumped and while his adversary was still air-borne, Roger thrusted forth his sword.

The thrust was great; it cut deep, and many crimson drops decorated the earth.

But Garp realised that he was too slow to counter Roger, and knew that he had to restrict Roger's mobility. And therefore, he sacrificed his right arm.

When the thrust came, he kicked the air towards the left, and he was thrown to the right. And as Ace the blade was fast, the thrust would've taken apart his ribs like butter, and thus Garp grabbed hold of the sword, and used all his might to not let go.

Seeing this, Roger's eyes widened, and he tried to pull out his sword from Garp's iron fist. But the grip of the Hero was no small feat, for even Roger struggled for a moment.

As Garp held the sword, his knuckles turned white, and blood started to ooze out from his palm, but he could not even feel anything. He had no concern for petty things such as a few droplets of life-juice.

Grasping the blade, he pulled himself to come near Roger, and punched him in the chest.

And this attack, landed.

When the punch hit and the fist collided with the chest, Roger felt the very air getting pushed out of his lungs.

Roger gave a rasping breath, and staggered back a bit. Yet, he was not wounded enough to lose balance. When Garp saw that his punch had found it's mark, he followed it up with another one.

Ugh, but this really infuriated Roger.

Burning like a volcano, Roger once again released the most extreme torrent of his power and Haki, and made his move.

He darted through the grounds and tore through the air, and his anger rose to such a level that adrenaline rushed through his body, like liquid fire. His bolts here and there caused enough friction to make the nearest inflammable gunpowder remnants to explode in a huff of smoke and dust, and he wrecked Garp of the Marines.

A slash here and a thrust there, and a lunge which shook the very Earth, Roger completely overwhelmed Garp, to the point that Garp' fist had no impact on Roger.

Such power was demonstrated there, and the amount of Haki liberated out there was enough to make the remaining Marines intoxicated with something of no visibility.

Roger's moves were so fluid, and so compact. There were no unnecessary movements, and even if his mind was on stormy terms, his body acted in accordance with his inner will.

With swift strokes he crushed Garp the Hero, on whom was laid the entirety of the hopes of the Navy, except for the Fleet-Admiral and the two Admirals who would not dare to attack the Pirate King.

Droplets of blood scattered through the air, and crimson tainted the blade of Ace. Staggering back, Garp's knees gave way, and he knelt.

Garp the great, whose tales have been sung throughout the countless Naval fleets. Whose deeds have been spread through the vast ocean that even the Yonko deem him worthy to be their opponent.

Waned though he was, his power was not for naught. Even after aging to the age of more than seventy years old, Garp was still one of the strongest Marines in the entire world.

A motivation and a role model to more than a thousand Marines, the great man had fallen, to the hands of none but the Pirate King.

The downfall of a mighty man.
