Chapter 20: God Usopp

In the ship of the Black Cat Pirates.

"How could such a thing happen?" Nami was very surprised when he learned what happened that year from Jango's mouth.

Not only Nami was surprised, but even Luffy, who knew the plot, was surprised.

"Can your hypnosis technique last for so long? Or can it be made permanent?" Luffy touched his chin and directly asked his question.

"My ability can't always take effect, and it's impossible to change a person's memory forever." Jango, who was beaten, had a bruised nose and a swollen face at this time. Hearing Luffy's question, he answered directly while steering the rudder.

"Meaning that Morgan has long since regained his memory, but he didn't report it at Marine Headquarters?" Zoro asked with his hands behind his head, leaning against the plank of the boat, and opened his eyes when he heard Jango.

"It should be like that. Captain Kuro also waited for a while and saw no movement from Marines before starting his plan." Jango replied and had long since revealed Kuro's plan.

"False report for a status, what a disgusting Marine!" Nami said with a sneer.

Just when they stopped talking and the ship was slightly silent, there was finally a trace of the island not far away.

"Finally, Syrup Village!" After seeing the island, Luffy said and, at the same time, glanced at Jango, "As for you, just watch the boat right here. Well, if you are lucky and we get a ship there, you can leave on your own. Don't act rashly. Your every move is under the perception of my Observation Haki." 

Hearing Luffy's threat, Jango trembled. Although he didn't know what Luffy was talking about, he knew it must be some kind of surveillance. After seeing the strength of Luffy and Zoro, Jango stopped resisting. At least for now, his life is not in danger. Thinking of this, Jango nodded quickly and continued to steer the ship straight towards the island.

Just when Luffy and others got off the boat and walked towards Syrup Village, there was a lot of movement from the high slope not far away, and at the same time, a slightly nervous young voice sounded, "Hey, Pirates, Stop advancing! This is the territory of the great pirate captain Usopp. if you continue to advance, my 80 million men will attack you without hesitation." 

As the boy with a long nose jumped out from behind the bushes in brown clothes, a lot of flags appeared around him and swayed among the bushes. 

"If you tell a lie, at least make it a little bit convincing." said the three of them together.

"You live on such a small island with 80 million people?" Nami said with speechless at how naive the other person was.

"They know? Oops! Wh... what.. are... you talking about?" Usopp covered his mouth and replied nervously.

"Okay, we're not pirates yet, and we don't do anything to you. We just want to buy a boat here." said Luffy.

After Luffy explained the purpose of his visit, Usopp's trembling body returned to normal, and he enthusiastically brought the three of them to a restaurant in the village, not embarrassed at all because the previous action was exposed.

"Do you see that house there? That's the richest family in the entire Syrup Village, but the butler there is a bit annoying." At the dinner table, Usopp cheerfully speaking, but less so when mentioned the butler.

"What's wrong with that butler?" asked Nami.

"That butler should be the former captain of the Black Cat Pirates, Kuro the [Hundred Plans], who should have been executed. Presumably this wealthy family in Syrup Village is his target." Luffy answered Nami's question, and the answer is directly stated. 

"Huh? Could it be that the plan that Jango said was..." said Nami.

"What are you talking about? Most of the people in the village trust him. How could he be a pirate?" Usopp heard Luffy talk about the richest family in their village, and asked directly. 

"We are saying that the butler in that house is the captain of the Black Cat Pirates, who should have been executed three years ago. His real name is Kuro, and the reason why he came here to be a butler is for the family's property." Luffy spoke calmly.

"How could it be? If that's the case, then Kaya now— ahemm, you guys just eat here. I have something to go out for!" Hearing Luffy, he didn't doubt whether what Luffy said was true. Usopp said goodbye, and then he grabbed his purse and left in a hurry. 

Regardless of whether what Luffy said was true or not, Usopp himself felt that the butler was suspicious a long time ago, but Kuro was trusted by the villagers.

But now, he heard Luffy about Kuro which made Usopp's heart tighten. Thinking of the gentle lady, Usopp clenched his fists and said, "Don't let it happen, Kaya!"
