That damned Titan

Aster would have cried if his eyes had moisture left.

'I can't even celebrate slaying a Titan, hah. Well I do admit that Titan was sorta weak. Titans are supposed to be disaster ranked at the very least right? But it died just like that.'

'No use thinking about that for now. I need to preserve my life.'

He looked at his hands and clothes. His skin was dry and bright red, his clothes emitted a burnt smell and the vision in his left eye was slowly declining.

He touched his face with his right hand. The cracked skin on his hand certainly hurt a lot but not as much as his face which was swollen and burnt. His face skin was soft, something he didn't expect.

Without thinking anything, he jumped into the ocean and was met with a ferocious current and refreshing cold.

He held onto one of the stone trees on the seabed and indulged in the water around him.

Now that the lord of this part of the ocean was gone, fishes gained the guts to venture to this rocky area much to Aster's delight.

'Finally, some food.'

***

Aster climbed up the bird's pillar, carrying a few colorful fishes he had caught.

The bird was still immobile. Its energy hasn't risen at all but that's to be expected.

He threw some 1 meter long fishes at its black beak and that's when it finally moved. It quickly nibbled down on the long awaited food without even inspecting what it was.

"Eat well, you deserved it."

After saying that to the young silverwing, he went to the battle platform. Thanks to the flame tornado, it is safe to say the entire platform is like a frying pan now.

He peeled off the scales of some smaller tuna sized fishes and placed them on the ground and it sizzled beautifully.

His mouth salivated the moment a smell other than the charcoal next to him or his burnt hair appeared in the air.

The fat on the fish melted and oiled the stone frying pan, preventing it from getting too burnt.

A refreshing wind blew, chasing the unwelcome smell away while bringing mana. He, being the impatient brat he is, absorbed those mana and created a few fireballs in the air, near the fish being cooked.

He tried to hum a song but his dry throat wouldn't let him. 'Hmm, food is solved now, I need some drink.'

He first extracted some stone from the platform and willed it to adapt the shape of a cooking pot.

Then he filled it with sea water and put it on the ground and waited for it to boil. Once it boiled, he created another stone pot and guided the steam coming from the first pot into it.

The result was crystal clear water.

'The fish should be close to finishing now, let's hope I don't get another parasite by drinking it.'

Gulp

'Ahh, this is really refreshing. Hmm?'

He saw his reflection in the water in the pot and froze.

His hands lost their strength and he dropped the pot.

'Huh!?'

"Huff, huff, haa' His heart started racing, beads of sweat formed on his forehead,

His hands slowly reached his face and gripped it hard, hard enough to draw blood.

Then he pulled.

"GRYAAAGH"

RIP!

TEAR!

There was no time for surgeries, no time for closer inspection. The longer this thing rested on his face, the more likely he would die.

Some part of him didn't want to pull this hard. He didn't want the pain but he kept going nevertheless.

'This thing infiltrated my brain, shit!'

He pulled even harder.

Blood flowed down his neck. Tissues were ripped, skin was torn off.

"AAAAARGH"

With one last pull, he successfully tore it off. His brain went numb with pain and his right eye felt strangely hollow. It probably popped off. With his damaged left eye, he saw what was on his hands.

He saw a pinkish flesh blob, pulsating and trying to assimilate into his hands.

Using his remaining strength, he manifested a fire storm in his hands, engulfing the flesh blob on fire.

He kept blasting it with fire, the blob's regeneration powers were absolutely terrifying. Even if it was completely cooked, it would heal back. Turning it into ash and charcoal was the way to kill it.

He was finally able to breathe when it crumbled. He collapsed once again.

'Good thing that the vampire's clothes were high quality. Otherwise my back would be getting barbecued right now.'

'Ahh, I don't think I will look into mirrors from now on. I gotta look absolutely horrendous, tearing off my face and all.'

'Hehe. I have enhanced strength, agility, endurance, vitality and dexterity now.'

The dopamine from seeing his skills grow offset some of the pain and he got up to have some hard earned lunch.

He walked up to one of the fish and grabbed it. It was a little bit burnt but it's alright for Aster.

He made a stone plate, fork and a wind knife that works like a chainsaw.

He cut a piece of juicy fish and brought it closer to his mouth.

This was the part where he should revel in the taste of otherworldly fish but he encountered a huge problem.

'Where's my lower jaw? And tongue?'
