-Ancient Greece-

Demetrios's POV:

The first time I saw him was when he wielded a sword against me, our swords clashed, and his look of determination and fire threw me off from the sheer beauty of it. I was frozen in place and couldn't help but stare at this handsome man in front of me, who had frozen as well. I stared up into his beautiful eyes, frowning when he looked away, breaking the connection and back to his comrades they were being pushed back and were on the verge of retreating. He took one last look at me and ran back to help, they retreated.

I got caught up in the cheers of my friends and soldiers surrounding me and I watched as the beautiful man turned to look at me one more time then down at his wrist causing me to look down at the beautiful name written in cursive when I looked back up he was being pulled back urgently. The pull to follow him was so strong that I jumped when my tall best friend, Haimon touched my shoulder.

“You alright there Demetrios?” He looks down at me in concern. I nod, shrugging him off and walking back to the others.

“I’m fine, Haimon,” I nod, shrugging him off and walking back to the others. We packed up, attended to our injured, and traveled back to our camp.

-Hours later-

I had woken up in my tent the same pull, pulling me forwards, the feeling was new and filled me with confusion but excitement. I get up grabbing my boots and step out of my tent and travel right to the edge of the camp. There I could see someone moving through the trees I froze and watched till a beam of moonlight showed his face to be of the stunning man from earlier. A sign from Artemis? Though I do not think she would help in this way.

“What is your name?” He asked with clear curiosity and suspicion as he slowly stepped out of the tree line.

“You are the one who has come up to enemy territory. You should be more cautious as I could sound the alarm and everyone would be after you,” I threatened but it was empty and by the look on his face he knew it was a bluff.

“You would’ve already,” he says in a quiet voice as he keeps his distance. “Do you feel it too?” His voice was so deep and compelling that I had taken a few steps forward and to my pleasure and surprise he didn't move away.

“You're very bold coming to the edge of our camp,” I said quietly as he moved right up to me and looked down, seemingly pulled by the same feeling I was.

Aleixo’s POV:

Seeing him in the moonlight reminded me of the beauty I saw on the battlefield. I’ve seen so many people during this war but him.

He was so different from everyone else I’d ever seen. It was mesmerizing his eye twinkling in the little light we had. I prayed to the gods that I wasn’t dreaming. He looked to be blessed by Aphrodite herself.

“You're beautiful,” I whispered out as I continued to study his face committing it to my memory forever. Me saying that had brung out a satisfying blush on his face and a warm proud feeling rushed through my body at his reaction.

“You are a flatterer. Do not lie,” he said back with a little disdain. I shook my head as I stepped back slightly feeling the pull to touch him but knew I shouldn't. He followed me bringing us back to how close we were seconds ago. I felt like I was in a trance staring into this man's eyes, one that I didn't even know his name. We were stuck in our own little world till the camp's warning bells sounded and shouts traveled through the field of tents.

“INTRUDER BY THE WEST GATE!”

My eyes widened and I looked down at his surprised expression as he turned quickly to look at the camp.

“Go I’ll cover for you,” he said urgently.

I nodded then grabbed his hand, “My name is Aleixo.” He looked down at his wrist in even more surprise and shock then looked up at me looking right into my eyes.

“My name is Demetrios,” he said looking back at me the name hit me with a wave of familiarity as I had read that name over and over on my wrist, “you have to go please.” I nod quickly and take off into the tree’s and back to the encampment of my side and slips into my tent unnoticed.

Over the course of three months, I go almost every night to meet him just outside his camp and we get closer and closer every time. First, it was hand touches then we sat closer, then with our knees touching. After two months our nervous glances turned to love-filled gazes.

It happened during a full mooned night, the moonlight shone on him again like the first night I snuck to the side of the camp and I couldn’t resist anymore. He was talking excitedly about what had happened during his day when I gently wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him into a gentle kiss. He froze for a few seconds in surprise before he melted into it and cupped my face to pull me closer.

It was a magical feeling his lips on mine but it ended too soon as we pulled away to breathe our much-needed air he stayed close looking deep into my eyes and I met his gaze getting lost in his eyes. I leaned in to kiss him again and he responded with the same amount of passion it even feeling wanton. It still brought the same feeling of ecstasy through my body, this rivaled every feeling of passion I had ever felt.

Kissing had become normal by the end of the month as well as more but the day came when our sides had planned to strike against each other.

It was a warm day but the battlefield was filled with bloodcurdling screams some of the determination others filled with pain as the clanking of swords and shields was ear-shattering. I searched for my beloved as I slashed and cut down soldiers from his side praying to the gods he was alright.

Demetrios’s POV:

I looked for him desperately. When I spotted him I ran as fast as I could towards him he turned towards me and smiled happily seeming to sigh in relief as he saw me. I smiled back just as wide but it falls as I see my best friend turn his attention to Aleixo and him to occupied by me doesn't even notice.

I run faster.

“ALEIXO! BEHIND YOU!” I shouted in warning but it's in vain cause before he had time to react to what I said Haimon had pierced his long sword right through Aleixo’s stomach. His face was painful to look at, his beautifully calm face was now twisted into a painful and shocked expression his mouth opened to make a sound but nothing came out.

I screamed in horror as Haimon roughly pulled his sword out of the one I loved and he fell to his knees. I skidded to a stop right then and kneeled down quickly to wrap my arms under his to keep him up. He was crying and groaning in pain I realized I was crying as well.

“D-Demetrios…” he stuttered out with a wince of pain as he leaned heavily against me I struggled to keep him up as I placed kisses alongside his face.

“It’s alright. Please don’t leave me. I can’t live without you,” I pleaded softly.

“I love y-...” he slumped against me and I sobbed and laid him down on top of my lap to see him trying to keep himself in the world of the living but it was wasted and as my tears streamed down my face he looked right up into my eyes for the last time before his beautiful brown eyes went dull and I clutched his body close as the battle raged on around us.
