Not Human 1

A night in the woods, a morning of questions. Asher McKnight's life is changed after he wakes up to the most painful experience in his life. The stories always said a bite did it, but it's different now. The tables are turning and the bodies are piling. Teenagers and townsfolk going missing and Rider's Crest has more creatures than it should boast suddenly showing up everywhere. What's worst, someone is turning people into supernaturals but not the regular way. Asher's new world is catching up to him fast, and he seems to keep hearing that lone wolves never make it to winter. Yet with a stubborn alpha hell-bent on pulling him into the pack, a vampire that won't leave his side and Helsings in the mix. Asher can't believe he'd actually grown up in such a dangerous place. Maybe, just maybe he'd get to see winter.

Aurora's Hunt

Aurora

Shit. Shit. Shit.

No number of shit could describe this moment perfectly as I stared at the scene down there from the spot I'd climbed to in the trees. His roar the only reason I had run all the way from the far off distance I had been at.

Finding an animal had been harder than I thought. I wished he was here since his hearing was better than mine by far. But I also knew I had to do this myself.

He'd helped a lot, kept me alive , trusted me to not kill him which I almost failed at . Now I needed him to do this by himself and trust that he could. I knew my shouting could have been way off but I needed him to see how dire our situation was.

Last night had literally been the slap to my new reality that I needed . I was a vampire whether I liked it or not and since there was no other vampire around to teach me I had to learn on my own. I knew Asher would want to help and in just the few days I already knew he'd help me and forget to master his own.

I needed to get my own working and he's too. My ears finally heard the snapping of twigs and branches alerting me to movement. I was quick to move zipping behind a tree as I watched. A little doe stepped out it's mother watching from a little feet away as it grazed at the few grasses at its feet.

I let my body hum as my fangs descended and my irises went red. I don't think the mother knee what happened as she looked around making some noise as I held the doe strongly in my arms a few ways off while I watched the mother searched for her child.

This was life then. The strongest only survived, and the doe was food to them. I sank my fangs into it's neck and felt the blood pour down my mouth and down my throat. The difference was very clear, very clear. Human blood was alluring exquisite and tasty, something you'd surely want.  Animal blood while it lacked the same sweet taste as human blood. I could feel the same energy coursing through my body as I drained the doe.

*Stop" I screamed in my mind. But I couldn't,no wanted more, needed more. But if I could'nt  stop on animal blood how much more for human blood.

My head shot back quickly and I breathed heavily at the exertion to pull off. The Doe's heart beat softly almost to weak but I knew it had to survive. The frantic mother finally laid eyes on the doe lying weakly on the side of the tree while I watched from a distance.

*Only the strong survive Aurora" I told myself.

"That hers to be you and Asher. " I muttered a smile climbing my face.

A roar had me jumping near outta my skin as I looked back where it had come from. I could hear the defiance in them. No mistake it was his  .

My shadow dissipated as I ran , the trees and branches flying past me with speed as I hurried back to the cliff.  I cursed running off such a long way to find prey.

By the time I got there  I saw a mess. Wolves attacking him and just one standing away watching. I had half a mind to take her down before helping but then my eyes found him and I stopped moving.

This was it, I could tell. His eyes burned fiercely as he took them on actually holding his own. I didn't know how he was doing it but it didn't matter. He kept on putting them on their asses. My eyes widened in worry a bit as the shewolf  leapt atop his shoulders and savagely clawed at his arms . My feet dragged forward and I stopped my mind replaying my own words

The strong survive. Asher and I . He needed this, maybe I did too but now this was his and I prayed he shifted. I zipped away leaving a flutter of breeze that drew the last girls attention to the spot.

I'd barely sat on a branch that gave a good view off the fight when I saw him do it. Watched the mad glint or the way his face crinkled in mad rage as he slashed her throat.

My eyes twinkled and body hummed at the sight of the blood splashed on his face. The fight seemed to pause as one of them tried to help the girl he almost killed.

One shouted out at him and I knew there was trouble the moment he rushed forward. A part of me panicking as the guy went all wolf his gold fur ripping through his flesh and clothes as he stood in the bright afternoon sun his fur gleaming from the sun rays. A part of me hoped this was it though the final push to shift he needed , what else would make him have to transform anyway.

The wolf prowled him, the way he had done me those nights ago. This was getting scarier and I knew it would not really go all to well. I sat up my irises reddening as my blood hummed and boiled ready to join in when it got ugly.

Only things didn't get ugly, it got freaking mad.

Short chapter. Had to package everything into the next chapter.
