Unexpected Guest

“Alpha Shiloh will be here soon, uncle.” Lucas smiled nervously as he repeatedly called for Shiloh through the mind link. He knew Shiloh could hear him, but the man must be deliberately ignoring him again.

The man sitting across where Lucas was standing humphed and crossed his arms. His thick brows were slanted. The few wrinkles on his face became more defined after scowling.

Lukas anxiously sighed to himself. They were prepared to receive Blue Crescent. However, nobody expected for such a person to come today. He could only hope for Shiloh to hurry up and receive this prominent guest. The pressure was too much.

‘Uncle Remus is here. Shiloh, where the hell are you?’

Shiloh blinked and tilted his head. He forcefully drowned out the annoying voice from his mind. He lost concentration after speculating too much, so a voice had accidentally slipped through.

At the same time, Nevada was finally ready. He casually strode out of the door that Lowe had opened for him.

“Alright. Where to?” he immediately asked as he straightened out the crease that formed on his shirt when he moved.

When he looked up, he saw Shiloh peering down at him. No—to be exact, he was examining his clothes. The action made Nevada, who was already very conscious about what he was wearing, unconsciously lift an eyebrow.

“What is it?” he irritatedly asked.

The original Nevada was a pushover who only wanted to please people and didn’t want to be perceived as a nuisance. That was why he never cared or at least thought about what he liked and didn’t. Whatever others say is what will go.

However, the current Nevada knew exactly what he wanted and a big part of his priority list was appearances. He tried on many types of outfits, but it seemed that these kinds were really what suited him and his looks best. He can’t do anything about it even if they were too far away from his usual preferences.

Nevada subconsciously took a step back when Shiloh stood straight and walked to him. Shiloh’s stride was bigger, so he was almost instantly in front of him. Without any time to escape, Nevada could only stay still and watch as Shiloh held him in place by gripping his collar.

“You look good,” Shiloh unexpectedly said. He fixed his collar and fiddled a little with his chain brooch before patting his chest a few times. “Before anything else, you must eat. The doctor specially made a menu that should help maintain your health.”

Nevada took a deep breath. He didn’t even realize that he was holding it.

With a stiff face, he lightly pushed Shiloh and walked past him. “Whatever.”

Shiloh could only follow from behind while wondering how Nevada, who had only stayed in his room the past week, knew the twists and turns of the packhouse. Neither of the pair paid any attention to the strange looks they were receiving from the people who saw them walking together.

Actually, not together. Because what was bothering the stuck up werewolves of White Moon was the fact that the omega was walking in front of their alpha. Most of them already caught wind of the sudden visit of Shiloh’s biological uncle, Remus. That was why they didn’t care to call out the omega’s behavior anymore.

They assumed that Remus must have heard about Shiloh bringing an omega home, and he came to knock some sense into his nephew’s head.

“Nevada.”

Before Shiloh could stop Nevada from entering a certain room, the latter had already opened the door and stepped inside. Shiloh licked his lower lip and followed.

Lucas almost jumped from joy when he felt the alpha’s presence just behind the closed door. However, his breaths were sucked out of his lungs when a lean little guy appeared. This certain person had a cold and indifferent aura around him.

“Omega.” Lucas hissed. But before he had the chance to say more, Shiloh had already appeared behind him. He towered over the omega so easily, like an impenetrable fortress protecting a castle.

Shiloh’s sharp gaze pierced him and Lucas immediately looked down in both fear and respect. He gritted his teeth when he recalled that the omega was also with Shiloh. It looked like he was also greeting the thing when he hadn’t even thought of accepting him yet.

“Shiloh, my favorite nephew.” Remus didn’t care about the tension between the childhood friends and just happily greeted Shiloh. He stood, grabbed his nephew’s hand, and pulled him in to give him an abrupt embrace with a pat on the back. “Have you grown taller since the last time I saw you?”

Shiloh laughed. “Uncle, we saw each other two weeks ago. I couldn’t possibly have changed so much in that short time.”

Remis stepped back and went back to his seat. His expression was light and he had a smile on his face as he eyed the three young people standing by the entrance. However, it was still hard to guess what he was thinking.

“What are you talking about? I almost can’t recognize you anymore.”

Remus’s tone wasn’t hostile nor did it sound anything like scolding Shiloh. On the other hand, it felt more distant and uncaring. As if they really haven’t seen each other for a very long time.

Of course, Shiloh, who knew this uncle of his like the back of his hand, could understand the meaning behind those words.

“Uncle, you’re too much. I didn’t look that bad before.”

The side of Remus’s mouth subtly lifted up, but he was quick to fix his expression. Nevada looked at Shiloh behind him, and then to the old man sitting on the head of the long table. He looked like his former guidance counselor, and they were the three bad students who were called to detention.

Nevada looked at them back and forth a few more times before Remus’s gaze landed on him. Like a nervous daughter-in-law meeting her husband’s family for the first time, he stood straight and gave a small smile.

Remus raised his eyebrows at him. “And this young man is?”

It was impossible for the big news to not have reached the other packs yet. Remus didn’t have much exposure during the previous timeline, so Nevada wasn’t sure how to act. However, he did know that Remus remained neutral throughout Shiloh’s quest and Shiloh let him be since he was family.

Nevada didn’t know if the same visiting event happened previously and what they could have discussed about, but he was sure that he couldn’t have been an enemy. So maybe he will observe for now and decide how to treat him later.

Before Shiloh could answer for him, Nevada already raised a hand and replied, “Hello, uncle. My name is Nevada, an omega.”

Both Shiloh and Lucas were dumbfounded. Not because he could act so normally as if he was still the same heir as before, but because he very confidently included that he was an omega in his introduction.

Remus frowned. His expression distorted then turned into a disgusted look. But then, as if he could no longer suppress his laughter, he suddenly bursted laughing. He grabbed Nevada’s hand and shook it up and down while a few tears dropped before the sides of his eyes.

“Good, good! Hahahaha. I am Remus, Alpha of Black Gibbous Pack. It’s very nice to meet you, Nevada the Omega.”

Remus was still dying of laughter. Shiloh gently took Nevada’s hand and inspected the redness that formed. His uncle had gripped him too tight. He wanted to complain, but seeing him in such a good mood, he didn’t have the heart.

A family member liked Nevada…
