Academy

Naruto was at the door of their home and ready to storm out the apartment.

"Do you have some flea or why are you so squirrelly today?", asked Kaito when he saw him. His blue eyes were still somewhat bloodshot from waking up and being tired.

"How can you not be excited? Today is our first day at the Academy!", replied Naruto.

"...I am surprised that you are already awake...Wait...Did you even sleep at all?"

"Nope!", grinned Naruto as if it was the most normal thing in the world. "Come on, bro. Let's go!"

Kaito walked to the bathroom. "I go wash up first..."

Later the two arrived at the academy. They could see all the other children of the dame age grouping around the entrance.

What was immediately noticed by Naruto was that each child present here had at least one parent with them.

The twins themselves were brought here by Kano. So Naruto felt somewhat saddened knowing he did not have parents.

Kaito bumped his shoulder to cheer him up. That at least helped somewhat.

But the moment the shinobi Kano left it became a hideous display of ostracization.

"Look, it's those demon twins."

"What? Why are those monsters allowed into the academy?"

"I don't want my child to be in the same class as these two."

Those were only the mild words that were said and whispered behind their backs. Of course, there were also people that directly attacked them and didn't hold anything back.

"Yuki, don't go near those two, you hear? Those two are bad children."

And it was not just that they hated or disliked the twins, but they also tried to keep everyone away from them as well.

In the classroom, both Kaito and Naruto sat together at a far corner of the room. The seats in front and to the right of them were empty.

Kaito was really fuming at the moment and clenched his fists. He felt so wronged at this moment. Although he always cheered his brother up he himself was feeling the same after all.

Only after someone actually sat down beside them he calmed down. A little bit curious he looked at the person that sat at the table.

It was a guy with black hair put into a ponytail above his head. His facial expression looked as if he was extremely bored.

Close to him, a girl with blonde hair took a seat.

Naruto was also curiously looking at these two kids. The guy reacted from being stared at and looked back. "Is something wrong?", he asked.

Both of them shook their heads. Secretly Kaito and Naruto smiled at each other.

Then their teacher entered the classroom. He wore the usual attire of a shinobi. A green vest with the Uzumaki clan symbol on the back and a blue head protector with the Konoha leaf symbol on his forehead.

His hair was black and he wore it also in a ponytail. Looks like this style was very common. The most notable feature was his scar right above his nose.

"Good morning, everyone. I am Iruka Umino. And from today onwards I am going to be your sensei until 6 years later you all graduate from the academy to become shinobi."

He smiled and looked at each child in his classroom. When he noticed the twins his facial expression became a little bit complicated.

"A lot of you come from an already established clan or a family already in this line of work. Some may even have been normal citizens until now. But I still hope that you all treat each other as equals and learn as much as you can so that in the end when you change your decision you will not regret visiting this academy."

"Now then, let us begin with the basics."

Iruka was actually very professional and besides that one look, he kept his feelings towards the twins mostly hidden.

But Kaito noticed his expression and didn't know how to feel about it. He already put Iruka on his bad side on the back of his mind. He already did that with a lot of people. He would definitely remember them.

A little later after the class started Naruto became bored and was already most of the time laying his head on the desk.

"What are you doing? If you keep that up you will fall asleep.", whispered Kaito to him.

"But I am so bored~ Where is the ninja stuff? I don't like math...", answered Naruto and flipped through his boring math book.

Kaito only sighed. "So much for your earlier motivation..."

"Hey, let's prank that teacher." Naruto seemed to ignore his comment and was already trying to get himself occupied with something. And pranking was his hobby.

"Why?"

"...He gave us that look....didn't you notice?"

"Naruto..." Kaito grimaced a little bit. "I did notice it, but we shouldn't become like them. He doesn't know us so let's behave ourselves...for now..."

"...Urgh. Alright, then I will go to sleep." With those last words, he really went snoring.

That got him a chunk of chalk straight to his face. "Ouch!"

The class started to snicker immediately after seeing who was hit. Even Kaito slightly smiled. he did warn him.

"Naruto Uzumaki! What exactly do you think you are doing?", asked Iruka with an angry voice.

"Sleeping, why?", deadpanned Naruto without holding back.

"...." Iruka was flabbergasted by that answer. "So you are saying my class is so boring that you need to fall asleep? Good...go outside and stay in front of the door!"

"What!? Why only me!? My brother also finds it boring and you didn't say anything to him."

"...I see...Then both of you can go outside. Now!"

"Thank you, dear brother....", grumbled Kaito to his neighbor.

He and Naruto were now standing in front of the class and holding two water buckets. One in each hand.

"Ehehehe" Naruto just grinned sheepishly. He involved Kaito on purpose to not stand around alone. And it actually worked.
