Chapter 85: Plan
After purchasing the map, Kiba,
Hirohiko, and Yukina found a corner and spread out the scroll.
"This is a general map of the
Death Forest, with the location of the Tower of Death clearly marked,"
Kiba said, glancing at it before handing the map to Hirohiko and Yukina.
"I estimate that the 4-point and 6-point maps will show more details, like
shortcuts. We need to rush to the Tower of Death to protect the scroll. Before
we arrive, the secret scrolls are unprotected. In a sense, the attackers can
take them upon arrival. So, we must hurry."
Hirohiko and Yukina nodded in
agreement. After examining the map, they handed it back to Kiba.
The 2-point map was very basic,
only showing the Tower of Death's location amidst a large forest. It provided
little else besides that.
Kiba put away the map. "In
ten minutes, we can't stop attackers with a 6-point map. So... I have an idea.
Follow me."
Hirohiko and Yukina exchanged
glances and nodded.
Kiba looked around, then walked
into a bush growing from the inside of the barbed wire fence. Hirohiko and
Yukina followed closely.
Soon, they emerged, their faces
unchanged. Hirohiko patted Kiba on the shoulder, saying, "You can think of
this kind of method."
Kiba smiled slightly.
"Desperate times call for desperate measures. This should give us enough
time. Now, let's coordinate with the other defensive team."
The trio approached the other
defensive team, who were examining their 4-point map. As Kiba's team
approached, they hid the map behind them. Their captain, Kanno Satoru, sighed
in relief upon recognizing them.
"It's you guys. You scared
me. I thought it was the attackers," Kanno said.
Kanno Satoru, Aso Sasuke, and
Kusunoki Katsuki... This Kusunoki Katsuki was likely the one from the first
match.
The strength of these three seemed
average, while the attackers, particularly Shiga Taketake's group, were very
strong. Their captain, Shirakawa Izumi, had formidable Water Style techniques.
In terms of strength, the
defensive side was inferior to the offensive side.
"Do you have any plans?"
Kiba asked with a slight smile.
"Plan?" Kanno was
momentarily stunned, then gave a wry smile. "You mean a plan to deal with
them?"
Kiba nodded.
"Uh..." Kanno was
clearly stumped.
Plan? What plan? With this map, there's an optimal
route through the forest to the Tower of Death, which we can reach in a day.
Then, just defend for two days. Since the defender is disadvantaged at the
start, the tower must have something beneficial. With the strength of the three
in front of me, it should be no problem. Are these three really seven years
old? With that strength, I don't want to fight them!
Seeing Kanno's bewildered look,
Kiba frowned.
It seems he doesn't understand the current situation
at all!
Kiba resisted the urge to touch
his forehead and twitch his mouth. "So, there is no plan?"
Being questioned by a
seven-year-old made Kanno a bit embarrassed. He coughed lightly. "There is
a plan. Look at the map. There's an optimal route. Following it, we can reach
the Tower of Death quickly. It must be beneficial for us there. Otherwise, the
chief examiner wouldn't set such additional rules. My plan is to rush to the
tower and take advantage of the location to hold out for three days."
Kanno spread out the map and
confessed his thoughts. Then, he glanced at Kiba and saw the three children
looking at him in a daze.
What's wrong? Could it be that my plan is too
subtle, shocking them?
Kanno looked around, noticing Aso
Sasuke and Kusunoki Katsuki admiring him.
Is my idea really good?
Kanno felt a surge of
self-admiration.
At this time, Kiba's true thoughts
were different.
This guy... is an idiot. The members of this team
are absolute idiots! Even a three-year-old could think of this tactic. Won't
the attackers anticipate it? They'll definitely guard against this move!
Why two groups? Why did the chief examiner divide us
into two groups? Why make us pass through the Death Forest and draw maps? There
are many implications here!
At that moment, Kiba felt the
future looked bleak.
However, they couldn't give up.
There must be a reason for Orochimaru's arrangement. Kiba believed in
Orochimaru's strategic thinking.
"Compared to this... I have a
plan and hope you can cooperate," Kiba sighed deeply and glanced at the
attacking teams, who were also planning.
Judging by their expressions, their plans are much
more thoughtful than ours!
Kiba sighed again internally.
It feels like my plan has been gently pushed
aside... No! Ignored!
The corner of Kanno's mouth
tugged, feeling rejected by a seven-year-old. No! Ignored! This feeling was
uncomfortable.
His face showed slight
displeasure. Aso Sasuke and Kusunoki Katsuki were slightly stunned.
Uh... it seems like the captain has been ignored!
"Listen, my plan is simple.
Although Lord Orochimaru said the defense team enters first and the attackers
follow ten minutes later, there's no rule about when the defense team must
enter. Do you understand? We need..." Kiba smiled slightly.
But at that moment, Kanno Satoru,
Aso Sasuke, and Kusunoki Katsuki felt a chill down their spines.
The seven-year-old genius's smile
seemed chilly.
No, is this an illusion? Why do I feel like there's
an arrow-shaped tail dangling from his back?
"I understand!" Kanno
interrupted, hitting his upturned palm with a fist. "You mean, as long as
we don't go in, they can't enter, and we can spend three days outside,
right?"
Hearing Kanno's words, Aso Sasuke
and Kusunoki Katsuki suddenly realized, looking at Kiba with admiration.
As expected of a seven-year-old genius. So amazing! they thought.
This time, Kiba couldn't hold
back. He put a hand on his forehead, the corners of his mouth twitching.
It's over. These three guys are hopeless! They will
definitely die on the battlefield!
Kiba had once thought the big
idiots in anime were artistically processed for comedy, but now he realized:
What fools!
This
theory is flawed! If you don't enter, the test hasn't even begun. How can you
expect to win in three days!
