Chapter 5: Talk with grandpa (1)

Ken entered the Hokage's office to meet his grandpa. He saw his grandpa sitting on the Hokage's chair surrounded by paperwork.

"Little Ken, Looks like you finally decided to meet your grandpa," Hiruzen said with a smile while looking at his grandson.

'He feels different. Has the death of Biwako changed him?' Hiruzen thought as he got worried about his grandson's mental health.

Ken rushed in to hug his grandpa while a tear dropped from his eye remembering his grandma.

Seeing this, Hiruzen's worries disappeared.

'He is still my cute little grandson. His smile is something worth living another five decades or so.' He thought inwardly.

"Your grandma is going to watch you from heaven, Ken. Remember her will of fire is still alive and burns bright inside you."

Ken nodded hearing this while he thought

'I always thought that the will of fire was just some crap that Hiruzen developed to brainwash kids but looks like he believes in it more than anyone else.'

"Alright now we will move to some important matters."

"it looks like you already have awakened your chakra, Ken. You are quite a prodigy, aren't you? I would have helped you awaken your chakra at 5 just one year before you joined the shinobi academy. That would have given you one year of clan training which is usually given to most clankids. But since you have awakened it early, we can start your training early." Hiruzen said

"Now before you ask why chakra is not awakened before the age of 5, well it's quite dangerous. Someone can even lose their ability to use chakra. Some even die.

The other reason we don't awaken the chakra of kids at 5 is because we want them to enjoy at least some of their childhood before they train to become shinobi. That is why I am giving you a choice if you want to start training from today or next year. I would respect and support you in any choice you make." Hiruzen said looking at Ken

"I want to start training from today, Grandpa. I would become the strongest shinobi then I would be able to protect you, Dad, Mom, and Uncle Asuma from all the dangers." Ken said with childlike innocence.

Although he received the memories of his previous life, he was still a four-year-old kid.

"Hahaha. That's my grandson. I do not doubt that you would be able to surpass me with your two kekkei genkai's. You must have inherited the genetics of your grandpa to luck out on them. Hahaha" Hiruzen laughed while forgetting his worries about the village.

"Well, I would have trained you myself if I did not have to once again take the seat of Hokage. Besides, due to the destruction of the village, my workload is immense." Hiruzen said with a sigh

Ken hearing this asked his grandpa "How many people died in the attack Grandpa?"

Hiruzen was surprised to hear his grandson ask this but still answered his question.

"Despite how devastating the attack seemed, we did not lose many shinobi.

The only ones who died were some of the anbu guarding the wife of the fourth Hokage during childbirth and the ones assisting in childbirth. Apart from them, no jonin or above-rank shinobi died."

"Along with that, the shinobi guards present on the outskirts of the village were killed along with a lot of civilians. They were mostly chunin and genin. But even though they were not Jonins, their loss still hurts the village deeply."

"The fourth's wife created a barrier that enveloped her, the fourth Hokage, and nine tails. So I and the other shinobi could not engage the nine tails and thus there were no casualties on that front either."

"The fourth Hokage managed to protect the village from two devastating attacks from the nine tails. Although our shinobi losses were not that big, the loss of property was huge."

"The Academy building was destroyed along with several other buildings. Although everyone was safe since each clan had evacuated everyone in underground bunkers."

"Though, our shinobi loss was minimal. The death toll of civilians was huge since a lot of them lived near the outskirts. As a result of that our orphanages are full."

"The biggest loss would be the death of the fourth hokage and his wife. Two S-rank shinobi's death would hurt the village the most."

Ken was surprised hearing this as far as he knew the loss of shinobi was massive during the nine-tails attack in the anime.

Although the true death toll was not mentioned. There should have been many shinobi dead.

In the anime, Kurenai's father who is an elite jonin also died in the battle. But since Hiruzen said that no jonin or above shinobi died apart from the anbu guarding Kushina, it means he is also alive.

'Did my existence change the timeline? But I did not do anything. I may have met Kushina and Minato during the past years but it could not have led to this. Anyways, it's a good thing that not many shinobi died, unlike the anime or manga.' Ken thought

He did not know that the reason behind the change in the events was because of him awakening his chakra and kekkei genkais.

Orochimaru would have taken advantage of the chaos and killed or captured several shinobi for his research and experimentation. He would have asked Danzo for some help who would send his ROOT shinobi to eliminate the ones who would not have supported him to be the next Hokage.

But since Orochimaru got too busy witnessing Ken awaken his chakra and kekkei Genkai's, he could not do it. Thus, saving the lives of various high-level shinobi.

But that was not all. In the original, Minato would have first teleported Kushina to the baby Naruto and then he would have dressed up and helped the village from the nine-tails attack. While the third and the other shinobi would fight the nine tails, Minato would have been busy fighting the masked man.

But Hiruzen had appointed some extra security for Kushina for some reason who were outside the building where Kushina was giving birth and were safe from Obito.

Minato entrusted Kushina to them and then teleported the nine tails far away from the center of the village. Thus fighting both the nine tails and Obito. Kushina joined him afterwards.

This left the Konoha troops idle. So the ones who would have died fighting the nine tails lived. But still the initial destruction, the nine tails caused took the lives of several shinobi and civilians alike.
