I will be my own hero!

Horror engulfed the heart of Cesar when he saw the raging crimson eyes and heard the ferocious wolf howl.

Even though the silhouette of the wolf was obscured by the steam and rain, its wildness and savageness could not be hidden.

"T-that's… T-this is our fault. I don't know what ability the boy used, but it looks like he's losing control, and after that explosion, he's sure to be injured! Boy, we really brought harm to you…"

Cesar's heart was overwhelmed by guilt after seeing what was happening to Yeshua. However, powerless as he was, Cesar could only weakly stare at the result of their misfortune.

The heavy rain and the steaming wind brought more melancholy to this tragic scene.

Meanwhile, Yeshua, who just released a wild bestial roar, was fighting the savageness overpowering his rational mind while enduring the torturous pain caused by the burn wounds in his body.

The red vapor produced by Yeshua's boiling blood continued to cloak his injured body. Even so, the blood-red mist could not completely conceal the severe injuries he suffered from that blazing explosion.

Even though he was able to distance himself from the epicenter of the flaming tornado, Yeshua could not completely escape from the flood of flames that swiftly engulfed the area.

The flames scorched Yeshua's bristling dark blue fur and charred his skin black. Numerous cracks could be seen on his burned skin and red flesh was peeking from them. Hot blood also spurted and sizzled from these cracks like magma escaping from the ground.

An unbearable pain overwhelmed Yeshua's senses that further aggravated the savageness influencing his mind. Amidst the torturous pain and frightening savageness that he was experiencing, Yeshua was howling and growling madly.

"Argh! This pain is further strengthening the influence of my Blood Rage ability! The only way to stop this savageness from influencing my mind is to turn back to a human, but I can't do it yet! With these injuries, though my passive boost is much stronger than normal Alterers in my human form, I will be crippled and I might even die! I have to endure all of this until my injuries are healed enough!"

Yeshua knew that turning back to a human would save him from being a feral, but he also knew that his injuries were very severe that if a normal Alterer had these injuries at his stage of power, then they would definitely die!

Fortunately, the Blood Rage ability would also heal Yeshua's injuries during the duration of its usage, or else what happened to Jason would also happen to him. Yeshua just needed to endure the tormenting pain and terrifying savageness he was suffering.

The crashing sound of the heavy rain accompanied the raging roars of a wolf while the obscuring hot steam faintly receded. The blackened trees and the scorched ground were being drenched by the rain cleaning the scene of the intense battle.

As the area of the conflagration slowly revealed its gruesome state, the dark blue werewolf was also gradually healing his severe burn wounds.

Yeshua's blood kept on boiling as red vapor covered his injuries. The hot temperature his body was releasing also vaporized the drops of rain drenching his body creating white steam that blended with the blood-red mist.

Yeshua's injuries were healing, but his mind was also engaged in an intense battle with his bestial ego.

The hearts of humans were filled with lots of emotions. There were positive feelings like happiness and kindness, but there were also negative, dark, and sinister emotions that humans hid in the deep recess of their hearts.

The savageness dug these dark thoughts and influenced the mind to just forget their inhibitions and indulge in their desires.

What Yeshua was facing was his broken persona mangled by the pain and despair he experienced. It was not only influenced by his dark emotions, but also the emotions of the original Yeshua that he inherited.

The pain caused by the despairing loss of their parents made Yeshua wanting to just destroy everything around him, to just end everything, or to just release his hate to the world.

When people experienced pain and suffering, they would develop hate deep in their hearts. This hate could be for anything, but most of the time the target of that hate would be the unfairness of the world.

Why did he have to experience losing his parents? His life was good. He also felt that he did not do something bad to incur his tragedy. But why him? Why did he have to go through all those pains and sufferings?

And then, after reconciling with his fate in that world, he was brought to this dangerous and unforgiving place that he needed to fight tooth and nail just to live. He just wanted to live a simple life, but here he was, enduring the fate he did not choose.

"Why… Mom, Dad, why did you leave me? Why am I suffering like this? Argh…"

Tears streamed from the blazing eyes of the raging wolf. Yeshua was crouching on the wet blackened ground while fiercely digging his bloody claws to it. His growling filled with hate and pain from the unfairness of the world.

All his hidden emotions ever since he transmigrated in this world flooded the broken heart of Yeshua.

Then, amidst the savageness eating at him, a flash of memory filled Yeshua's mind.

Three people were sitting on a sofa. The two adults were smiling as they lovingly looked at the 10-year-old boy sitting between them.

"Josh, what do you want to be in the future?" A teasing smile hanged on the woman's face as she just wanted to see the troubled look of Joshua every time he was asked this question.

"Mom, you always ask me that," the chubby boy pouted cutely after hearing the question of his mother.

"Hmm, I don't know what to be in the future yet, but I want to be with Mom and Dad forever!" After pretending to be thinking, the witty boy said. He was smiling like he was proud that he succeeded in dodging the question.

The two adults could not help but laugh heartily at the cleverness of their child.

Then, the man looked tenderly but seriously at the young boy and said, "Josh, in the future, we won't always be there for you. There will be times that you'll have to face things alone. When that time comes, we want you to be brave. Your mom and I hope that you'll be your own hero."

"I'll be my own hero…," the young child repeated the words of his parents.

"I'll be my own hero…," the raging wolf Yeshua whispered amidst his mad growls.

Clarity faintly shone in the blazing eyes of the injured werewolf. As he was reminded of the happy times he experienced with his parents, Yeshua focused his mind and gathered his will to fight back the madness consuming him.

"Indeed, it's true that the world is unfair, and it's something that no one could change. Though I experienced pain and suffering, I also should not forget the good memories that I have. I should engrave them in my heart. These happy memories will be my anchor, so I'll not lose myself from my madness. And if they are not enough, then I'll make more happy memories in this world!

"And though this fate is something I did not choose, I already resolve myself in walking this path and only I can walk this path for me. I'll have to face the trials of this path using my own strength! I should be my own hero!"

Yeshua's will burned with an impressive radiance that drove away all his negative thoughts as he endured the savageness influencing his mind and the pain of all his injuries.

Yeshua's injuries slowly healed as the bloody wounds mended. The charred skin was restored to its original appearance and dark blue fur covered his skin again. As time passed, the regenerative effect of the Blood Rage ability healed Yeshua enough that it would not pose danger to him in his human form.

After ascertaining the state of his body, Yeshua controlled the genome sequence of the Windrage Wolf and deactivated his Alter form.

A light shrouded the body of the raging werewolf as glitters of lights glowed in his body. Though it was not easy to pull back the wild beast into its cage, Yeshua's burning will still reigned and caged the beast inside him. After a while, the bloody wolf was replaced by a crouching young man.

Yeshua felt intense weakness after deactivating his Alter form. He could not stop himself from collapsing and slumped face down on the ground weakly. He was breathing hard as his body was drenched by the heavy rain.

After resting on the ground for a few seconds, Yeshua forced his body to rise. Although a lot of thoughts whirled in the mind of Yeshua during this time, only a few minutes elapsed after the explosion of the blazing tornado and the heavy pouring of the rain.

During that time, nothing happened while Yeshua was fighting the savageness consuming him. However, he still needed to ascertain the outcome of his battle with Jason.

The heavy rain almost extinguished all the flames. It was also washing away the ashes and soot caused by the forest fire. The steam obscuring the place was faint enough to discern things and from a distance, Yeshua could see a black figure lying collapse on the scorched ground.

After observing for a few seconds, Yeshua dragged his body slowly and carefully towards the charred figure.
