Chapter 6 Smarty Pants

"Fine, but can't you think of it now? I want to know," Miles said. Mason turned to him and then gave him a cold glare that was enough to make him shut his mouth.

"Got it, I'll zip my mouth I'm doing it now," he said as he used a sign to zip his mouth.

"But," he opened his mouth but immediately shut it. He knew nothing good would come out when he angered Mason. He would rather die in Sky's arms than Mason who was worse than a devil.

After a few minutes, Sky walked into the classroom he scanned his eyes and after locking the target he walked towards him.

"There is no point in hiding, he has already seen you," Mason said to Miles who was trying to hide himself.

"Then, can you tell my parents and my sister that I loved them," he said weakly.

"Come out," Sky said as he walked towards where Miles was hiding.

"Stop yelling, if you want to yell go outside," Mason said nonchalantly as he flipped the book he was reading.

"Oooh, it's you smarty pants, since you want to defend why don't you take his place?" he turned to Mason.

"Here, start with this my homework," he took out his books from the bag and then placed them on top of Mason's books.

"From today onwards, smarty pants you are in charge of handling my homework and you I'm not done with you," he kicked Miles who was still crouching on the floor.

"Get up, the teacher is here," Mason said without even looking at Miles. He casually glanced at Sky from behind and then uttered under his breath," So he is now a bully,"

"What did you say? I didn't hear it," Miles asked making himself comfortable in his seat.

"I said, stay away from trouble I can't keep cleaning up your mess," Mason answered.

"Okay, got it don't worry about his homework I'll handle it," Miles stretched out his hand trying to take Sky's book but before he could, he heard Mason reply," No need I'll do it worry about yourself,"

Mason was the kind of person who pretended not to care but he still did. He opened Sky's book and then scribbled on it after a while, he closed it placing it aside.

Miles smiled silently as she watched everything that he was doing. Even though they had been friends since they were born, there were some things that Mason refused to do for him for instance, Mason had never once done homework for anyone. Even if Miles was sick, he still wouldn't do it but here he was doing Sky's homework and even correcting his work openly.

Wasn't he afraid someone would notice? Îles couldn't help but ask himself.

"Are seriously going to handle all his homework?" Miles asked again in disbelief.

"Mmmh, what's wrong do you want me to handle yours also?" Mason replied softly in a happy mood.

"You seem happy today?" He commented.

"You have a problem?" Mason replied.

"No, I just thought you were too busy yourself so you don't need to pay attention to trivial things like this,"

"Have you finished your homework? Or do you want to get punished again," Mason changed the topic.

"Aaah! Jeez, I totally forgot can I copy yours?" Miles hurriedly took out his books from his bag.

"No, it will be unfair to the other kids," Mason said.

"Oooh, how will it be unfair when you did Sky's homework I just need to copy yours quickly, it won't take long plus it's just the same," Miles tried to persuade him but he knew what the end results were. Scram!

Mason stood up and then went in front of the class to collect the books. Maybe being a class president wasn't so bad he thought.

His journey to requited love had finally started.

"Smarty pants, have you done mine?" Sky yelled from his seat.

"Since when did you become close," one of his friends asked. Yes, friends. Sky was a bully but he still had friends following him around. Girls were always acting coy with him, unlike Mason who was a loner.

"He is handling my homework from now on," Sky replied.

"Why? What about me?" Another asked.

"Me too, I've been handling your homework ever since school started,"

"He is the top student it's better if he handles it, right smarty pants?" Sky teased him as he smiled brightly.

"Can I also get a nickname?" One of the girls said.

"Me too," another said.

That was him, every little detail he did earned him attention from everyone both boys and girls.

After he had finished collecting the books, Mason went to the teacher's office.

"Oooh, Mason you brought the books," the teacher said.

"Yes,"

"Is everything okay? If you still feel reluctant to be a class president you can tell me we will choose someone else," he said.

"No, it's okay," Mason replied.

"If you are okay with it then it's fine, what about the preparations for the guests are you guys ready?"

"Almost, but we will be done by that time,"

"Good, I trust that you will do a good job," the teacher said.

"Thank you, I will take my leave then,"

"Go ahead,"

Classes ended as usual. Two weeks had already passed ever since they had joined their first year in high school.

Mason was as quiet as usual with little to no interactions with the rest of the class.

"Smarty Pants, let's discuss after class," Sky walked towards Mason and then said.

"What are we discussing," Mason replied coldly.

"The activities of the guest, I find that you are smart in studies but an idiot when it comes to other things meet me at the art room at 4:00 pm," he said. He walked away even before Mason could give him a reply.

"Do you feel something weird?" Miles teased after Sky had gone.

"Shut up,"

"Since you don't want to agree, I'll just say it,"

"Agree to what?" Mason replied sounding totally clueless.

"You guys are slowly growing closer, I think you're unrequited love will soon blossom. Hard work pays fighting," he said happily.

"Don't give yourself hope it's still too early," Mason replied but his smile couldn't be hidden.

"Oooh, is that so at least you agreed anyway,"

"Mind your own business," he replied coldly.

"At least we now have one more person who will be able to tolerate your mood, ah I can't wait to see,"

Immediately the bell rang, Mason walked toward the art room. He wasn't sure what he felt as soon but he looked forward to their discussion as he arrived, he was shocked at what he saw.

His books suddenly dropped on the ground.

"Smarty pants, keep a lookout," Sky said from inside the room as he went on with his business. Mason watched as he kissed the girl passionately.

He had no words but what did he expect? He thought at this moment, he felt quite heartbroken and sad for giving himself hope. He would rather remain just a class president and a loner. He tried to move his legs but he couldn't he was foolishly rooted to the ground till, Sky and the girl came out of the room.

"Thank you, I hope you don't mind," Sky tapped his shoulder lightly.
