The hunters had small bodies compared with cleavers but they had four tentacles. They had no arms, no legs, but used three as legs and one tentacle to fire fast and lethal darts.
These throwing tentacles were special in a way that had an inverted cone-shaped structure. Aroon didn't know from where these darts were coming but he knew the direction these tentacles were aiming.
And they were now aiming towards him.
"Sorry, but I need your body to be a shield for me,"' he killed a group of tankers before holding one of them with his right hand while the left discarded the heavy shield and took up a spear instead.
"Die!" the next moment he threw the spear off, pinning it violently inside one of the annoying hunters before picturing another one.
Another spear appeared while the old one vanished. "Sorry this area is restricted to monsters," he suddenly turned around himself in a full circle while letting the dead tanker's body take all the hits for him.
His spear howled in the air while cleaving all the monsters it crossed paths with. "You can't expect me to let you run away, do you?" he sneered when he noticed some hunters running away, trying to create distance with him.
He sent off the spear, ran fast while holding the tanker's body around as a shield before taking another spear out of his imagination.
"Oh gosh! I can fight all day like this and not feel bored," he laughed while the last hunter fell on the ground under one of his spears.
<Ding! Two hundred monsters remained alive and you've got only ten minutes>
The system warned him and he just sneered back. "Ten minutes are long enough for me," he threw the heavy dead body on the ground, imagining a sword while running fast towards the remaining forces.
What remained were mostly tankers and some were cleavers. Yet they posed no threat to him.
He kept hitting everything he crossed paths with using his fast speed and a sharp sword.
<Ding! Congratulations! You managed to fulfil the task with less than two minutes remaining>
Aroon was now panting for breath. He turned around and not a single monster stood there anymore. "Finally it's over," he muttered before turning his gaze towards the dungeon. "Why didn't it disappear yet?"
It was a known fact that when the monsters were killed or the boss of the dungeon got exterminated the dungeon then would vanish.
<Ding! That doesn't work anymore on you> the system said before adding:
<Ding! From now on any dungeon appearing in a place near you won't disappear even after clearing it>
"Wow," Aroon said in fake admiration, "I bet you'd say next that's because I'm special, right?"
<Ding! Well… you can say that>
"Then where is my promised trophy?"
<Ding! The reward to the quest you mean?>
"C'mon, stop playing games with me," Aroon laughed, "you know what I'm speaking about. You said I better leave the monster corpses for a better reward."
<Ding! Oh you mean that> the system said before adding after a short laugh: <Ding! It's that big dungeon in front of you>
Aroon turned his head towards the dungeon and glanced at its wide entrance. Dungeons were just like caves in big mountains, except they appeared in places without mountains at all.
"What do you mean?" he asked in doubt, "how is having an immovable dungeon considered a reward?"
<Ding! That needs time and some price to pay know the answer. However, today is your lucky day. So you can go inside collect whatever from dungeon>
Aroon didn't get what the system was speaking about. He stood there hesitant before he resigned and went towards the dungeon. "Wouldn't that nasty boss be there?" he asked.
<Ding! The dungeon now is in a dormant state. No monster of any kind will appear inside it for the next twenty-four hours>
"And?"
<Ding! You ask too much!>
"Stop speaking in riddles then!"
<Ding! After twenty-four hours you have the choice to either make it vanish or give life whatever lives inside>
"You mean to make it create monsters again, right?" Aroon said and from the system's silence, he got the answer.
"Who is insane enough to do something like that? I'll choose to exterminate the dungeons I conquer every single time."
<Ding! That depends> the system vaguely said and Aroon felt there was something hidden in the system words he didn't get.
"What now?"
As he entered the dungeon, the bad smell that came out from it brought back old memories.
All dungeons were alike, beginning with cave-like entrances, filled with stench odour, and they had some rooms connected with a long curved tunnel network.
And the biggest room lay at the end of all tunnels, which was the room of the dungeon boss.
<Ding! See the walls of room out there? Go and cut everything covering it gather them up>
Aroon felt the system was crazy but he still followed the path towards the first room.
The room was around a hundred meters in length and width. And it was lightened with some shiny thick tongues running through the entire walls of it.
"That looked quite familiar," he couldn't help but sigh while examining the room that looked no different than any other room he entered before. "How can I hit these? With a spear or sword?"
<Ding! Can't you do something on your own?> the system complained, <Ding! A hammer will be much better here, or a mining axe>
"I'll try the pickaxe first," Aroon said before the sword in his hand vanished. A long and curved pickaxe appeared next. "Let's see what you are trying to do here, my mysterious system."
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
He aimed towards the nearest wall while hitting it with his pickaxe repeatedly. The walls seemed thick and sturdy like any normal cave walls, covered with a thick layer of strong rocks.
However, under his repeated hits it started to crack and finally, the rocks fell off.
"What are these?" Aroon was shocked the moment the pieces of rocks fell and exposed what lied behind.
