In her mind, Cindy floated in a vast emptiness, an all-encompassing darkness that wrapped around her, dense and silent. Every direction she turned looked the same—a void that seemed to go on forever. She reached out instinctively, her hands cutting through the thick, inky air, but there was nothing to grasp, nowhere to gain footing, only the cold sensation of being utterly alone.
