Chapter 61: keeping up appearances

At the Lanxian's family home, Mrs Lanxian was shocked by Dominic's admission of a marriage between the WuXain's. The previous day both herself and Mr Lanxian had received the same video of Kang Lei and tried multiple times to contact Dominic to confirm if what they saw was in fact his Kang Lei.

Has they hadn't spoken about the said disgusting video, Mrs Lanxian had the horrible feeling that Dominic may have changed his mind about Kang Lei and BoJing, she was now confused by Dominic's confession. In reality Dominc's parents were distraught by the video as they knew Kang Lei was in serious trouble and this was not the time for Dominic to give up on Kang Lei and BoJing.

"This is fantastic news, looks like Dominic has gone and confirmed his relationship with MiMi" an elated Mr. WuXain spoke, Mr and Mrs Lanxian both sat awkwardly looking at the WuXain's not quite sure what their son was planning. "Well— this is good news we should get planning the wedding straight away" sated Mrs Lanxian with great difficulty.

Knowing what the Lanxian's know of the WuXain if it wasn't for Dominic asking them to pretend they knew of nothing, instead having a discussion of a marriage between the families a police officer would be escorting the WuXain's off their property as they speak. The hatred for the three people that sat before them multiplied with each passing moment.

The WuXain's on the other hand were far too overjoyed by the News of their little MiMi becoming a Lanxian that they paid little attention to Mr and Mrs Lanxian odd demeanours.

"Mr. Lanxian— wait seeing as we're going to be family soon can I call you Chao" asked Mr WuXain beaming.

Mr Lanxian who really disliked the presence of the man wished nothing more than to be out of presence of such vile humans as soon as possible, but for the sake of Dominic he was willing to keep up appearances, "ahem, as— we're soon to be family—- I".

"Please refrain from addressing my father and mother in such an informal manner, myself included" Dominic walked in the room cutting off his father stated in icy cold manner, while taking his seat as far away as possible from the WuXain's.

"Oh Dominic darling you're here, why don't yo—-"

"Miss MiMi WuXain— did I stutter? did I not just clearly state not to address us in an informal manner" Dominic cut her off giving her a cold glare.

"I— thought as you announce we're to get married, that—that meant"

"Meant what? That you were exempt" Dominic have a cold laugh before continuing,"haha, Miss WuXain need I remind you of a simple fact we are yet to be married and until I stand before you and say I do— well you will address me and my family as someone who is not yet apart of this family, do I make myself clear" Dominic's demeanour was dangerously cold sending shivers down MiMi's spin, she clenched her fist angered by Dominic's intolerance towards her, she never understood why Dominic was always indifferent when all she did was do everything she could to show him that she loved him.

"Dominic that is no way to speak to our daughter, further more your future wife. I know you have never had a relationship but you have chosen our MiMi so please show her the respect you would a wife!" Mr WuXain who felt Dominic had crossed the line with his daughter quickly defended MiMi.

Rage almost overtook Dominic it took every muscle in his body to withhold himself from ripping the heads of the three people before him, he took a deep breath before gracing Mr WuXain with an answer "Mr WuXain I am not in the mood to be repeating myself today and am sure you're an intelligent man so this is the third and final time I will repeat myself. Again the correct manner in which to address me his Mr Lanxian and as for Miss MiMi WuXain well if she wishes to be with me she'll need to act according to my wishes, otherwise we can call off the wedding" Dominic was frank with his demands and knowing how greedy these people were without a doubt they wouldn't dare to call of the wedding.

"Oh no Mr Lanxian— am sorry for upsetting you please forgive us" MiMi said shyly almost on the verge of tears a look on the face of is she was deeply wronged.

Dominic scoffed at her yet timid and innocent act [how pathetic, did she forget I've already seen her real face] he thought wanting to rip that fake mask of her face.

Mr WuXain still felt Dominic was being unreasonable seek help from Dominic's parents "Mr and Mrs Lanxian, don't you think this is a little drastic we are soon to be family after all" again he protested.

The Lanxian's who was more than enjoying Dominic's obnoxious behaviour, had forgotten to calm keep Dominic in check.

"Huh— what— yes, Dominic darling let's not be unwelcoming to the WuXain's, they're— going to be family soon" Mrs Lanxian tried her best to sound sincere.

Dominic glared unapologetically at the WuXain's, but he had to remain focused at the task at hand his missing family.

"Why have you not ask about Xi WuXain?" Dominic suddenly asked, startling the WuXain's and his parents.

MiMi clenched her fist angered at the the mention of Xi WuXain's name.

The room became silent the WuXian's eyes wide in horror, "hmmm— when MiMi had told us she saw him working here we had— hmm gone to see him but he wasn't home, we figured he hadn't want to see us and left" Mrs WuXain answered awkwardly.

"Really, how did you find his address?" Asked Dominic, "oh— I had hired a private detective to investigate... I felt bad after the way I had treated him— am really ashamed for what happened that day" MiMi again pretended to be innocent, looking to Dominic's parents for their reaction, both looked unknowing to the situation so she figured that Dominic had not mention anything to his family. "If we had known he had changed his name to Kang Lei we would have found him and brought him home sooner then maybe he wouldn't be doing what's he doing." MiMi started crying.

"What happen, whats going on?" Mr Lanxian asked

"kang Lei is the Wuxian's dead son Xi Wuxian" Dominic responded like he was telling them for the first time. His parents both acted shocked looking to Wuxians for answers.

"We got a video yesterday— of Xi WuXain— he was doing such explicit things— it's better if we don't discuss this right and ruin such a happy day" Mrs WuXain tried to deviate from the topic.

Dominic was tired of the WuXain's lies but knew it was in the best interest of Kang Lei to act naive, "I find it odd that you seem unconcern about your thought to be dead son, whom you've recently discovered his not dead at all. Is it because you were aware of his current situation" Dominci asked clearly annoyed with their lies.

Mr WuXain who was now thoroughly annoyed at Dominic for digging his nose where it wasn't wanted aggressively replied to Dominic, "Mr Lanxian I don't like your insinuation towards us, this is clearly a delicate subject and we are handling it the best we can privately. Obviously we are pleased our son isn't actually dead, but we need confirmation and answers from Xi WuXain, especially regarding that video we received".

"I believed we may have received the same video yesterday, it was quite disturbing-- would you like some help finding him" Mrs Lanxian who saw that Dominic was on the verge of losing his temper, quickly tried to steer the conversations back.

"We just want to concentrate on MiMi and Domi— I mean Mr Dominic Lanxian, Xi WuXain is our concern the Lanxian need not get involved" Mrs WuXain stated putting and end to the conversation.

"Well seeing that we're going to be family am sure Miss WuXain would like to have Xi WuXain at the wedding, he is her brother after all and on such a important occasion family should all celebrate together right?" a unreadable smirk rose to Dominic's lips, because for him this wedding is going to be a changing occasion for all.
