Two days later,
"Are these all, Sofia ssi?", Asked my grandmother's personal assistant, Lee Chunhee
"Ye, just this", I replied looking at 2 large suitcases and 3 large boxes in front of me
"Very well", he replied, carrying a box out
I helped him take out the boxes and suitcases, took one last look around my apartment and walked out. I sighed slowly when I locked the door of this apartment. Honestly, I feel really hard leaving it. According to my grandma, the apartment and its furnitures would be rented out to someone else.
I dragged one of my suitcases down the stairs to the ground floor and put it in the trunk of my grandma's car. We had to go back and forth 3 times to drop all my things. While sitting in the car, the two of us were already out of breath from exhaustion.
"Let's go", said Uncle Lee as he started the car engine
"Have grandma arrived there?", I asked when we were in the highway
"Ye. Your grandmother is meeting the interior decorator of the house, they are waiting for you right now", replied Uncle Lee smiling at me
"Grandma hired an interior decorator for the house ?", I asked incredulously
"Ye", he replied briefly
I snorted as I stared at the car window, feeling that this was too much. Maybe you are wondering what is an interior decorator? is it the same as interior designer ?.
Well, actually the two professions are quite different, not only in terms of different names, but the focus of the services provided by them are also different.
Interior designers usually work with an architect to design a house or room. They play a role in creating a functional area that is safe, comfortable, efficient and aesthetically pleasing to the function of the house or room.
Meanwhile, interior decorators only focus on decorating an existing house or space. They are aesthetic specialists, who will help you in choosing wall paint colors, furniture, and accessories that are suitable for home decor.
*Ting
"Sobi ... where are you? Tomorrow I'm going back to Seoul. Have you seen the house?", The message from Yoongi
"Ani. I'm still on my way to the UN Village, oppa. Are you already at the MAMA venue?", I replied
Only 2 minutes later I received a reply message from Yoongi.
"Not yet. I'm still preparing at the hotel for the red carpet tonight", he replied
"Arasso. BTS fighting !!!", I replied
"Ye", he replied briefly
I smiled at the highway in front of me. BTS will be performing on MAMA's last day tonight. I hope they can get all the daesangs home.
During the last few days we have indeed exchanged messages, even if only once or twice a day.
"Is it still far, ahjussi (uncle)?", I asked Uncle Lee when the car we were in had passed the Hannam Brigde and started to enter the Hannam Dong area
"Ani, maybe only 10 minutes until we get to your new house", replied Uncle Lee smiling at me
I smiled and nodded at him. Today the weather is quite clear, the blue sky stretches out in front of us. It has already entered winter, although until now it has not snowed, but the air is cold enough.
I saw the entrance to the UN Village in front of us. Then we turned right and the road in front of us started to climb. UN Village is indeed located in an unique location in the Hannam area. The location is between the Han river (Han gang) and Mount Nam (Nam san).
This strategic location is what makes property prices in this area very high. That said, this location is also said to have perfect Feng Sui.
I stared in amazement at the rows of mansions to my left. To be honest, this was the first time I visited UN Village. And seeing this residential area in person made me quite fascinated.
Uncle Lee took us all the way up to UN Village 2-gil. This area is located in a hilly area, so the road we were on was quite uphill and winding. I might not be able to walk through this pretty steep road, I thought to myself.
"Waaah how big the house is", I said while busy looking at the large houses lined up
"Ye, only certain people can own a house in this area, Sofia ssi. You're very lucky", replied Uncle Lee
"Jinjja?", I muttered. "Is it still far?", I asked again
"Ani. You see the house with walls of stones on the right? That is your house", he replied smiling at me
"Ani. That's not my house, it's Yoongi oppa's house", I replied looking at the house pointed to by uncle Lee
We stopped in front of a large house with high walls made of gray natural stone. There are two black entrances. One small door that is used as the entrance for people. And another big one for the car entrance.
Then the big door slowly moved open, Uncle Lee immediately put his car into the house.
"Woaahhh ", I said wide-eyed when I entered the yard of this house
Standing in front of me is a big house painted white and gray walls. In front of the house there is a yard filled with grass and some plants and trees.
"We're here ...", said Uncle Lee, turning off the car engine
I took off my seat belt and opened the car door slowly, then followed Uncle Lee up the steps to the entrance.
"Please come in ," said Uncle Lee, opening the door for me and shifting sideways to make way for me
"Kamsahamnida", I replied as I walked in
When I passed the entrance, I was immediately in a foyer that connected the entrance to the inside of the house. To my left was a large shoe and coat rack camouflaged with the surrounding walls. On my right there is an abstract painting and a white bench.
Then I took off my shoes and replaced them with slippers. After that I climbed two steps to get to the family room where my grandmother and her guest were.
I was amazed to see the room in front of me. To my right were two lined doors, a staircase, and a large kitchen. Meanwhile, on my left there is a large family room and dining room. I could see the backyard from the dining room.
"Annyeong", I said to my grandmother and her guest
"Annyeong, Sofia~aah you've arrived ..", said my grandmother as she stood up from her seat and approached me
"Ye", I replied
"This is Choi Rena, she has decorated this house", said my grandmother introducing a middle-aged woman in front of us
"Annyeong, I am Han Sofia", I said bowing to her
"Annyeong, nice to meet you. I am Choi Rena. Your grandmother has told a lot about you and your husband", she replied smiling kindly
"Sofia, since you have arrived, Rena will take us around this house", said my grandmother
"Ye, can we start now?", She asked us
"Ye", I replied, nodding my head
"Alright. Maybe you've seen the foyer in front, there is a shoe rack and a coat rack big enough to put your shoes and traveling coats," explained Rena.
"Then this is the family room, I put your wedding picture here so that every guest who comes can see it", she said, pointing to a photo hanging above the living room television
I looked around the living room biting my lower lip, fascinated. There is a large light gray L-shape sofa in the middle of this room. And a coffee table in front of it. A big window on our left shows a grassy garden next to this house. The floor of this house is made of ivory white marble.
"This is a study room as well as a library", continued Rena, inviting us to enter a room on the right
This study room is quite large, the same size as the living room in my first apartment. There is a window facing the front yard of the house. Then there is a sofabed and study table on the wall opposite the window. And on the other wall is a large shelf of books. A light gray fur rug filled the center of this room.
"Next to the study room is a toilet and then a staircase leading to the garage and to the second floor", continued Rena
Then she led us to the dining room and kitchen which were opposite each other. The kitchen is very modern and minimalist, dominated by gray and white. A large refrigerator is standing in the corner to the right. There is a kitchen island with 2 tall wooden chairs. This kitchen reminds me of the minimalist kitchens I often see in a magazine or television, very clean and modern.
"This dining table is very large and can accommodate up to 8 people. I think you have to have a big dining table so you can entertain friends or family who come to visit you," she explained, smiling at me
Indeed, the dining table in front of me is very large. It is rectangular in shape, made of solid oak wood and surrounded by 4 chairs on each side. A minimalist chandelier hangs just above the dining table.
And what amazed me the most was that all the walls and doors in this dining room were made of glass. So that it offers a spectacular backyard view, because from the backyard you can see the stretch of the Han river down there.
"Woaah daebak (amazing) !!", I said, widening my eyes as I walked towards the backyard and stood by the fence to see the Han river, the houses and roads below me
"Do you like it?", Asked my grandmother from the terrace
"Ye, it's beautiful. Wow,that's why the prices of houses here are very expensive. I can't wait to see this scene at night", I said, smiling broadly
"The scenery here is truly extraordinary. Almost everyone is fascinated when they see the scenery here", said Rena, standing beside my grandmother
"Let's see your room upstairs", asked my grandmother after a few minutes let me enjoy the view
"Ye", I replied walking back into the house
The three of us then climbed the stairs to get to the 2nd floor.
"On the 2nd floor there are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms", said Rena when we reached the 2nd floor. "On the right, there are the master bedroom and one guest bedroom, which are both equipped with a private bathroom in it", she continued
"This is the master bedroom", she continued, opening the door on his left
"Waah ...", I muttered when I entered the room
This room is big, the walls in this room are covered with elegant light blue colored wallpaper. There is a king-size bed facing a large window overlooking the Han river. A photo of our wedding hung above the head of the bed. And a blue armchair that looks very soft is in the corner near the window.
"The bathroom and walking closet are over there," said Rena, pointing across the room
"Arasso", I replied nodding my head
I walked following Rena to see the bathroom and walking closet that she pointed earlier.
"Are these my clothes?", I asked when I saw the one of the cupboards
The doors of these wardrobes are made of glass so that I can clearly see the clothes inside.
"Ah, ye. That's your clothes, Sofia ssi. One of my employees just tidied up your belongings earlier", replied Rena smiling at me
"You let one of your employees touch my belongings without asking my permission ??", I asked incredulously
"Umm ye. I'm sorry for not telling you. Because usually we also help tidy up the things brought by the client so you don't have to bother tidying it yourself", replied Rena confidently
"What?", I said can not believe what I just heard
"Sofia, that is indeed one of their services, so you don't have to bother with your luggage and can immediately rest in your new house", added my grandmother when she saw that I looked unhappy with that action
"But I prefer to tidy up my own things. I don't like it when someone touches my belongings without my permission," I replied firmly, staring at Rena
"Please forgive us. We just want to help you, Sofia ssi", replied Rena, bowing over to me
"Never mind Sofia ... can we continue to the next room?", Asked my grandmother softly
I didn't answer, just nodded my head at her. I was still annoyed that they had unpacked my clothes and belongings without my knowledge.
We headed for the room opposite the master bedroom, this room smaller than the master bedroom, of course. But both have a stunning view of the Han river. A large cherry blossom painting forms the backdrop for the queen-size bed's headboard. The bathroom and walk-in closet are smaller than the main room, but I really like this room, because it's not too big nor too small.
"This room can be used as a guest room if there are friends or family staying here. Meanwhile, in the hallway over there, we have converted the two remaining rooms into a music studio and workshop," explained Rena as she walked towards the two rooms in the opposite hall
"Mrs. Han said that her granddaughter-in-law is a musician. And he said that he wanted a mini studio in this house. Meanwhile, you are a designer, so I thought maybe making you a workshop would be very useful. I hope that you and your husband can do each other's work but still close to each other ", said Rena smiling at me
"Workshop? For me ??", I asked haltingly
"Ye, we will see your workshop later. Well, this is your husband's mini studio," said Rena as she opened the door of one of the rooms
"Wooaah", I said in amazement
This room looks like BTS's music studio that I often see in the pictures they've shared. There is a large table with two monitors and a keyboard on it. There is a piano beside the work table. Then there are four speakers stuck in every corner of the room.
Below the window is a medium sized sofa with soft cushions on it. And of course there are some retro-style wooden shelves as storage and display several objects.
"We have made this room soundproof, so you don't have to worry about the noise from this studio," she added
"I think Yoongi will like it", said my grandma who looked very happy to see this studio
"Ye", I replied smiling at her
"Can we see the last room?", Asked Rena, smiling broadly at us
"Kajja", replied my grandma as she walked out of the room
"And this is your workshop, Sofia ssi," said Rena as she opened the door to the room opposite Yoongi's studio
"Oh my God !! Daebak ya! This is for me ?? Jinjja?", I asked, widen my eyes looking around this workshop room
There was a large L-sized table attached to the corner opposite the entrance. On that table there is a computer, keyboard, printer, and various types of drawing tools.
An electric sewing machine is located right in front of the window that leads to the front yard. I don't think I'll get tired of sewing while looking at Namsan Mountain in the distance.
Then, on the wall opposite the window, there are shelves containing various materials needed by a designer. Alot of fabrics with several types and colors, colorful threads, buttons, accessories, sketch papers, to mannequins.
And beside the entrance there is a large magnetic glass board. I feel very moved to see this workshop, I feel like I want to run and hug Rena.
"Kamsahamnida", I said speechless
"I'm glad you like it", said Rena smiling broadly
"Ye. Halmoeni kamsahamnida", I said while hugging my grandma tightly
"I'm happy for you, Sofia", said my grandmother stroking my hair
*knock-knock
There was a knock at the door, we turned towards the door at the same time and saw Uncle Lee standing at the door.
"Sorry to disturb you ... Madame, the thing you've been waiting for has arrived", said Lee Chunhee to my grandmother
"Jinjja? Arasso. I'm glad it arrived on time. We'll come down in a little bit. Thank you", replied my grandma
"Is it finished?", Asked my grandma to Rena
"Ye, Madame Han. I've shown you the whole room. Is there anything you want to ask or add about the interior of this house?", Asked Rena to us
"Ani. I'm very happy with this house. Thank you", I said when my grandmother looked at me asking for my response
"Thank goodness ... I hope your husband likes it too. I'll have to go, then. Madame Han, if you have anything you want to add or complain about don't hesitate to contact me", said Rena bowing to us
"Thank you for your help, Rena ssi", replied my grandma
Then we went down to the first floor to meet uncle Lee.
"Sofia~aah .. I have a gift for you", said my grandmother as she led me to the car garage in the basement
I saw two cars in the garage, one belonging to my grandmother, the newest Mercedes Benz car I was driving with Uncle Lee, and a red Hyundai Kona which I saw for the first time. I frowned, my grandmother usually only uses luxury cars, but why is there an SUV here ?, I thought.
"Madam ...", said Uncle Lee, giving a car key to the grandmother
"Thank you", replied my grandma and stood facing me
"Sofia, this is a gift from me to you. I knew the distance from this house to your campus is very far. If you use public transportation you will need a lot of time to get there. So I gave you a car so you don't have any trouble", said my grandmother. while putting the keys to the SUV in my hand
"Huh ?? For me ?? Ani, I don't mind if I have to use public transportation, halmoeni. This car is too good for me, I can't accept it ..." I replied while trying to return the car keys to my grandmother's hand.
"Gwaenchana, please it accept Sofia ... let's just say this is a birthday gift from me while you were abroad. Forgive me for never looking for you and never once sending you gifts while you live away from me ", said grandmother with a sad face
"Halmoeni, I never expected this, I'm very happy to see you again ..." I replied hugging her
"You are a good girl ... you are the only one I have right now, Sofia, so I will do anything for you. Please accept this gift, I will be very grateful if you accept it", said grandma while stroking my face
I sighed and slowly smiled at her.
"Okay ... I'll accept this. Thank you very much Halmoeni. I love you," I said hugging her again.
Then my grandmother asked me to try my new car. I took my grandma and uncle Lee to a Subway outlet for lunch (a sandwich restaurant franchise) in my new car. I insist on treating them to lunch with my part-time work money.
After that we went back to Yoongi's house and in the afternoon Grandma and Uncle Lee said goodbye to go back to Busan.
Then I cooked dinner and watched MAMA. I'm so happy to see that BTS can get home 3 Daesangs from a total of 4 Daesangs tonight.
And right now I'm in the maater bedroom, I'm going to sleep because it's past midnight. From the bed, I was fascinated looking at the Han river which is surrounded by the lights in the city of Seoul, so beautiful.
I feel very lucky today, because I can live in a big house with amazing views, got a new car from my grandmother, BTS got a Daesang, and finally Bighit has sent me an email to inform me to attend an interview for an intern there.
I just read my inbox earlier before getting into bed. Dan squealed happily that a company finally invited me for an interview.
I lay down on the soft mattress, closed my eyes and gave thanks many times for this special day.
