Annoyingly married

We walked in together, acting normal, as everyone clapped as they watched us come in. I had expected Mr Fabian's countenance to have changed, but everyone in this house seemed to know how to keep it cool.

Rick and I had to greet every one of his relatives, so we tried our best to hide our annoyance, as we covered them up with a warm smile. The function was done and we were told to prepare for our marriage in two days. In the meantime, I had to sleep in a different room, the one I was dressed in. Tired and feeling stressed out from all the emotions trying hard to settle in my body, I retired to my room.

I sat on the chair right next to the dressing table, facing the mirror. I began to take out all the jewelry they had given me to wear for the function. I was struggling with my necklace as it got stuck to my dress, when I felt something warm grab my hands softly.

"Stay still" Rick's voice brought my hands back to their usual place of rest. He gently untangled my necklace from the dress, and while he was doing that I could feel his warm breath on my shoulders, sending a cold shiver down my spine.

"There" he whispered and I immediately understood as I held on to the unhooked necklace that he had left to drop. Rick wasn't a man of many words, but I was.

"You've been asked to join us for dinner tonight…at exactly 8pm" he said, turning to leave until I stopped his exit with one of my stupid questions.

"Why did you agree to this marriage" I gulped in some saliva, knowing well enough that I had asked a question that might require my head. Instead of giving an answer to my question he only said "Don't be late" as he walked out of my room. I didn't know what I was meant to feel or think. I was the one going through most of the drama and no one was giving me clear answers to my questions. After a while of sitting down on the chair, I moved to my bed and tried to have a peaceful night when I remembered dinner.

"Shoot!" It almost slipped my mind. I checked the time and it was 5 minutes close. I hurried into one of the nightgowns in my wardrobe, and dashed out to the dining room in the most elegant way I could think of. So glad I didn't get lost, I hurried to the table and watched everyone stare at me for a while. Rick looked embarrassed, while his sister, Roxanne found it funny. I didn't understand why until I looked at the way they were all dressed up, in formal attires. I swear if eye contact could kill, I would've probably been dead, because my eyes caught up with Ricks' almost every time.

Mr Fabian shouted at the maid who was in charge of picking out my daily outfit, for failing in her duty. I could see her shake a little with fright. He then dismissed her, as he raised up his wine glass and clicked it with a fork like he had done earlier at the function.

"I'd like to make both an announcement and a toast" he said with a bright smile as he stared at me with so much delight.

"Firstly, the marriage will be happening in the next two days and you'll both be having your honeymoon in…" he paused, possibly for dramatic effect "Italy".

Everyone's smile was bright but I could see how much Rick was trying to cover up his disgust and anger. After the announcement, Mr Fabian made a toast to us both and I have to admit, it wasn't so bad living here.

The next day was packed up with preparations for our wedding, and the family was all in, except for Rick of course. He had 'business' to attend to. I, on the other hand, had a lovely spa day with his sister. He couldn't make it to the boutique, to help me pick the perfect dress, at least that was what his mum said. They all made me feel at home and I still felt a little awkward about it. His sister, Roxanne, was a very lovely soul, she attended to all of my needs before I even said a word about it. They prepared for a ladies night and so did Rick and his dad. We had different night schedules. There was a bachelor's party and a bachelorette's party. I knew no one around except a few of my school mates who were already graduates. I hardly spoke to anyone during the party. All I did was sit down and drink lemonade.

Roxanne had left her phone with me and it was ringing. I searched around for her to return the phone but couldn't find her, so I stepped outside the room to search more. It was disturbing. The fact that she wasn't at the party made me worried. I alerted her mum and we both tried looking for her in different rooms in the mansion.

"It's just gonna be for a little while babe" I heard someone say behind one of the room doors next to me. I walked a little closer, trying my best to not make a sound. The door to the room was slightly opened so I could see Roxanne holding on to someone.

"I'm just acting all nice now so dad can give me back my allowance and we could spend more money. I hate her, despise her, maybe even more than my brother does" Who was Roxanne talking about? My curiosity wouldn't let me and so I wanted to hear more.

"Mitchell is a bitch for thinking anyone in this family would love a wretch like her, except my dad though. I still wonder why he finds her…"

"Finds me what?" I interrupted her long speech as it was pissing me off while she just stood there looking back at me in shock. The guy who seemed to be her boyfriend and was holding her hands while they conversed, excused himself immediately. I didn't wait long either, I stormed off and went straight to my room, slamming the door behind me. They were all liars. I thought I was becoming a part of the family. Tears slowly ran down my cheeks and I sniffled.

"Ruining your makeup so early isn't a good thing, shell" Rick was standing in front of me and he handed me his handkerchief, but I declined. I told him that I wanted to be alone but he didn't move. Gosh! He was so annoying. I dragged the handkerchief from him and dabbed my cheeks a little.

"Don't be late to our own wedding" he said as he walked out of my room but came back to the front of my room door like he had forgotten something else he wanted to say.

"No nightgowns" He wasn't smiling.

The marriage was over and we were finally on our honeymoon. This was meant to be a romantic escapade or getaway for couples, but I knew this was going to be another nightmare. All our luggages was properly arranged by some of the maids who had flown with us. I tried countless times to help out but Rick kept giving me this death stare. I mean, what is wrong with this dude, I'm only trying to make the work faster. After everything was set, including our dinner, the maids left us. We were the only ones in the house and it was so quiet. I freshened up and came downstairs for dinner, in formal attire, a caramel colored shirt with a black fitted skirt, to be a bit precise. Our chairs were on each end of the table, a little bit far apart. I sat down, facing him already seated in his chair. After a while of what seemed to be an endless stare, he stood up and walked towards me.

Every step he took closer made my heart beat louder, it was crazy. Once he finally got to me, he placed his hands on the dining table, shook his head slightly, unbuttoned the first two buttons on my shirt, then brought his lips close to my ears and he whispered.

"No formal wear. Welcome to hell, shell" My body froze, unable to make movements or look back at him. There were two emotions, the first was fright and the other, lust. He walked back to his seat and slowly sat down. We ate in silence, but I knew I saw him a couple of times giving me a cold stare and an evil grin. The next issue of the night was where we both would sleep.

This brings us all back to the present. Story telling time for the past is over.

The guest room was comfortable and at least I could finally sleep, but I wanted to know what or who had pushed his anger button. He wasn't so fierce during dinner, but when he yelled at me to find somewhere else to sleep, something felt off. Maybe he was welcoming me to hell? Nahh. I knew something was up and I wanted to figure out what it was.
