Let's Go Home

Working in the front bar was much easier, and all she had to do was serve drinks to customers and clean the small tables after customers left.

Usually, the upper class people did not like to stay in the first floor bar, which was always crowded with people who came to relax and hang out or try and run into upper class people and squeeze their way into the upper class gatherings.

Either way, Xu Anyi did not know anyone here and although the work was tiring, she felt much more relaxed.

It was late into midnight already when she finally finished, and she finished cleaning the last table. She took the towel back to the sink behind the bar counter and squeezed her way out of the bar, which was still filled with people.

After she had finally left the bar, she quickly made her way out of the building. However, on the way out, a person walking by suddenly stopped, "Xu Anyi!"

She turned around instinctively, hearing the familiar voice, and her eyes widened slightly in surprise when she saw Lan Yu standing in the hallway, holding a towel in her hand.

She had not said goodbye to any of her roommates, as she was not that close with them, so she did not bother. However, Lan Yu had been quite pleasant to her. . .

Lan Yu smiled as she walked over, "I can't believe it is you! I thought you left! Why did you leave the dorm?"

"Oh, I found somewhere else to live, so I left the dorm. And I work in the bar now."

A sparkle of surprise flashed past Lan Yu's face when she heard that, as the bar was definitely an upgrade compared to washing dishes in the kitchen in the Back, "Oh! Congratulations."

Xu Anyi smiled and she nodded as she took a step back, "I have to go, but I will see you around. Good night."

Lan Yu nodded and waved her goodbye.

She turned around and walked out of the front door, which was wide open. When she stepped into the cold night, she saw a familiar black car parked right in front of the door.

Once she stepped out, the car door opened and a tall figure got out of the driver's seat.

She froze in her steps, her mouth falling open in surprise. Then, her lips broke into a smile, "Si Mu!"

He closed the door and walked around the car towards her.

She ran over, suddenly filled with energy even though she could barely move her feet a second earlier, and she stopped next to him, "Why are you here? It's so late!"

He looked at her, his heart clenching up when he saw how exhausted she appeared, but he did not say anything about it, "I came to pick you up."

He pulled open the passenger seat's door, "Let's go home."

Xu Anyi paused for a moment as she felt a surge of warmth rush through her when she heard the word 'home' - a word so unfamiliar to her, a word she hasn't heard in five years.

Did she have a home?

She did not ponder on the question for too long, for she would not be able to come up with an answer, and instead, she nodded her head, smiling at him sweetly, repeating, "Let's go home."

She got into the car and he carefully shut the door, walking back around and starting the car as they drove home together.

"It's too late. In the future, I can just take a taxi home, you don't have to come pick me up," Xu Anyi said as they drove down the empty streets.

Si Mu did not even have to think about it before he replied firmly, "No."

Xu Anyi pursed her lips out, about to ask why, but it was almost like he could read her mind, as he added, "It's too dangerous."

He was firm with his words, and she knew she wouldn't be able to change his mind, so she did not try to convince him anymore. Plus, having someone pick her up after work each night was. . . quite nice.

Xu Anyi looked out the car window into the night sky and smiled.
