Chapter Seven; Lineage and Justice

Sebastian took one last glance over to the 'mouse' in the closet. If it wasn't for the actions of his father that took place just a moment ago, and the fact that his father brushed him off the first time, he might have outed out whoever was hiding and gotten them killed as well.

Now he thought better of it and decided to leave it be. He knew his father wouldn't hesitate to kill them off as well, it was better not to leave witnesses to the Elite's crimes after all.

He walked quickly out of the home to catch up with his father. He was still in shock and a little afraid of the man, more so than before. As the emotional distance between them grew, the physical distance between them lessened.

As Sebastian caught up to where his father was he asked him, "f-father, what happened back there? I've never seen you do… do that before.." as he recalled his father moving quicker than a mortal's eyes could see, and sucking the blood of the woman.

"That my son was business. It's about time you learned of your true heritage, and the lineage you carry. Walk with me for a while Sebastian."

Sebastian's father talked as the two of them walked to no place in particular, waiting for the guards to finish cleaning up the mess he had made in the Winter's residence.

"A long time ago, your great great grandfather had fallen in love with a night creature, a vampire if you will. It shocked him at first, the difference in the two beings, but he loved your great great grandmother too much to stay away from her. He asked her to convert him into one of them, so he could love her forever. It's rumored amongst the Elite's, the other night creatures, that she was the first one out of all of us.." he continued his story to Sebastian. "Vampire's don't acquire their full powers until they are almost of age. The first power you will acquire is heightened senses. That usually comes around age five if I remember correctly. I don't know if you've experienced any weird sensation or cravings up until now Sebastian?" his father asked while looking down at the boy.

Sebastian shook his head. He couldn't remember a time where he felt the urge or need to draw upon human blood. Thinking back to heightened senses though, he supposed he could have that as he was able to sense the 'mouse' in the closet.

"Hmmm.. perhaps it might happen later for you, or maybe not at all, seeing as you are half-blooded. Let us hope that it is the former though, I want my son to carry on my legacy and the family business." His father thought aloud. "Your mother wasn't a night creature like me, you see. She was just an ordinary woman, a plain villager that caught my eye..' his father trailed off reminiscing about the past with his late wife. "I can't say she ever approved of me, and my heritage, but we fell in love nonetheless. Until…" His father stopped short, stopping in his tracks as they were walking in a straight line away from the house. "The guards should be done by now, let us head back to the carriage, and make our way back to the estate, shall we?"

Mia waited until the guards had left the house, watching as the two of them had dragged her parent's bodies outside of the house to burn them. Not even getting to say goodbye, she tried to process what had just happened but her juvenile mind couldn't.

"Who was that man? What did my mama and papa do to deserve this?" Mia thought in her mind.

She cracked open the closet door a little bit, to peer out from it. Glancing from one end of the room to the other. The floor had been stained a deep red from the amount of blood that her parents had lost. She walked over to the spot her mother was, then her father, staring at the stain they had left behind.

"Why, mother… Why leave me all alone?" Mia said as tears ran down her cheek. Something inside Mia had cracked. Her little heart at the young age of 3 years old felt like it would break, but instead grew harder and more resilient. Numb if you will, to the amount of stress and pain she had experienced.

"I won't forget this. Not in a thousand years, will I forget who or what did this to you mama, and papa." She was on her own now. No parents, no one else in the family looking after her. At three years old, Mia was completely alone. She didn't exactly know how to cook or take care of herself, but she knew that she would do everything she could to stay alive, and one day seek justice for her deceased parents.

Thank you so much for reading. Please leave any comments or suggestions and I will get back with you as soon as I can. I believe the next chapter will have a time skip of a few years juss so you're aware and don't get confused. I'll post it on the chapter as well whenever any time skips happen. <3 <3
